Welcome to the detailed review of the Scope R5.a carbon wheelset. In this video, we dive deep into the world of carbon road bike wheels, exploring whether the investment in high-end, aero carbon wheels like the Scope R5.a is justified.
We'll assess key features such as the deep section design, , and discuss the overall quality of these wheels. Are expensive wheels worth it? We'll explore this by examining the Scope R5.a's build with a fine tooth comb to help you make an informed decision.
This review will also compare the tire profile on the Scope R5.a's with a 32mm internal width vs a wheelset with a 21 using the same tire.

Always put tyres on finishing at the valve, the valve will stop the tyre from sitting down into the well at the center of the rim,👍

I've been running scope S4 rimbrake and now running scope r5 disc. Get schwalbes they are made for scope rims. Used to ride Vittoria, that was horrible to fit as well 😂

good stuff. the only suggestion i would make is not using Stan's for the road. it just doesn't work as well under higher road pressures. I have best luck with Silca sealant but it makes a sticky mess. the compromise is orange seal sealant.

I'm perfectly happy with Stans Race sealant in my tubeless tyres. Going tubeless Jourdain won't have to worry about high pressures, he'll only need about 60 psi with a 28c tyre

Set the tire out in the sun if you can. I found this helps expand the tire slightly. Cheers

At 23 mm internal those Scopes come in 2mm narrower than ENVE AR. And they’re a good chunk heavier as well.
Where does the weight go? Reinforcement or glue?

How’s the freehub body? I have seen of these pairs as demo sets. The freehub body isn’t loose by any stretch of the imagination , but they tend to come off a little bit too easily. How’s your pair?

You do not have to hurry while installing the valve core - the tires stay seated anyhow ... and by the way - there are valve caps that have an built in valve core tool 😉🤓

it took me (us) 3 hours to put on a set of GP5000 on Vision 40 wheels. used some lube, hairdryer to heat up, stretching, etc.. it was a pain.

@@GNerdful I've used a tyre glider to mount and dismount 28mm Pirelli P Zero Race TLRs on my Scribe carbon rims and confirm no scratches and no headaches. It's essential to make sure the tyre bead is in the dip in the middle of the rim all the way around the rim as much as possible to make your life so much easier.

Try testing the balance? I can see the wheel bobbing in you hands after spinning it to evluate the bearings on the video, indicating the wheel is porly balanced.

Ultra wide at 23mm? That doesn't sound right. All road wheelset at over 1700gr sounds like a lot when the price is that high. Not for me.

One trick I use to "loosen" TLR tires is to heat it up in the oven on low heat for about 20mins.
That will get the tires to be softer and easier to fit.

please do not use this trueing stand to examine the wheels runout, as itself is extremely wonky. you can skew it by just pushing on the rim.
to get appropiate readings, spin the wheel and then HANDS OFF
