Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of 'Street Fighter III : 2nd Impact'. I play as Urien.
This is the second instalment in the trio of Street Fighter III games; the first being 'Street Fighter III : New Generation' and the last one being 'Street Fighter III : 3rd Strike'.
This game has superb visuals, music and gameplay. Unfortunately it was only ported to the Sega Dreamcast system, so it is quite rare. And, like all games in the Street Fighter III series, this one has parries, making the fights very technical.

The ending is basically saying that Urien beat Gill and got the PRESIDENT position that is meant to be the highest rank of the illuminati but there is a hidden higher rank which is EMPEROR. So Urien was shocked as he knew that Gill let him win the fight.

I love Third Strike..but seems like the backgrounds were rushed in it. This game really has the best art direction of all 3.

@@clinteastwood6875 It has nothing to do with rushing or time constraints. With so many characters, they had to tune down some animations to fit the game in the CD. Even some character animations seem a little choppier in 3rd Strike, too.
I personally always loved fighting Ken. Yes, he's a troll, but he was always alot of fun for me to fight for some reason. I never really cared about losing to him because of how fun and challenging it was to fight him, plus I always knew that I'd beat him eventually.
BTW, Ken is programmed to taunt you from time to time. Mainly to suit his personality

You can actually pick Akuma in this, he's right above Sean on the character select screen.
Ken's taunt is actually a power boost in whatever the next hit or combo you do

Still waiting on New Generation Playthrough, but I really enjoy watching the other Street Fighter III Playthroughs.
its funny cause some videos claiming total perfects with 8 starts of difficulty, the AI doesn't even move .
the music and stages in the SFIII series are so incredible! have grown to enjoy them since watching GSTAR's playthroughs (some of the first of his I'd seen!).
i prefer this version of sf3 more then third strike. Heck even New generation. The voices, the art is much better. even sound effects. the POP sound when someone gets hit with a fireball, the blocking sound effects have more Umfh to it, and ryus voice when he does a Haduken he sounds like he MEANS it, HAADUUUUken, vs 3rd stike....haduken. lol aand they F'ed up sean! i have it for dreamcast and my cps3 emulator

yea in some ways I feel so. I think they were going some where with the art direction for the 1st 2 games. They also removed the level destruction. I think if I played 3rd strike first, then I would of liked it more. but i played the 1st 2 games, few times at the arcade in 97 and 98. didnt know of 3rd strike until mid late 2000 when a new arcade place brought it in out of no where, but by then I think my mind had already been 'set'. same reason why i like SF alpha 2 more then alpha 3. I played alpha 2 and learned the in and outs of it from 96 and then SFA2 Gold from sf collection for the sega saturn. by the time alpha 3 came in arcades in late 1998 it was so different lol. i HATE alpha 3s announcer. cheesy compared to part 2.
***** i like gold also its my favorite because I got street fighter collection for saturn in 1997 for xmas. I have it for saturn still also. I also got the Ps2 anthology. great games. but I prefer sfa2/sfa2gold because sfa3 felt too different for me. just the smaler things llike music and announcer. but i got love for it though. Yeah. They did some things great and some things bad.
They totally changed Dudley's voice in 3rd strike. He didn't sound like he smoked 10 packs of cigs a day anymore. Also I prefer his new generation theme.
Urien's voice was changed for the better, etc.
They oughta release another SF3 online edition on Steam or something.

Again, good video. Unlocking Gull as a playable character is pretty much jumping through hoops for SF 3rd Strike but it so worth it!!! I love playing with him and played with him against my friends and only lost 8 times and played 40 games.

Nah, I've only got one more random playthrough video coming up, then I'm diving into Deception. But who knows, I tend to get side-tracked sometimes.

Parries are kinda busted, honestly. Really shapes the meta and makes the game imbalanced. If your character has bad normals or no strong punish it really hurts them. Probably why we never see parries in any other game. Garou did a better version of this technique in my opinion with Just Defend.

yeah, i don't really care for parries much either. It feels like parries de-emphasize the value of using your moves to control space and whatnot.
Personally, I think Guilty Gear has done this idea better. In GG you could also Just Defend like in Garou and it didn't give you as much frame advantage as a parry meaning you could punish predictable moves or create gaps in your opponents pressure, but it was never super strong.
In XX, there were also Slashbacks which were basically as strong as 3S parries, but they cost part of your super gauge, so you couldn't use it all the time.
Xrd has Blitz Shields which pretty much replaced Slashbacks. They also cost meter and are easier to do and send your opponent into a recoiling animation where you can combo them. Both of them also have long whiff animations (where the SF3 parries have no whiff animation) so they can be baited and punished pretty hard.
Axel Janes damn right man! It feels like the newer SF games have gone downhill since the lost of parrying. You should play Capcom vs SNK 2 also, that game has parrying in it, and if played properly, can defend anything that poke jab players can throw at you. there is a big tournament in ATL in November and I damn sure plan on playing both sf3 third strike and CVS2 if they are there.
Some games still have parries but they're either way more difficult to time or specific to certain characters, either way they're harder in a lot of games but the Street Fighter Impact series parries are really busted.
@@DreamerFromTheDepths and one dude said the series had gone downhill because they're gone smh. I don't miss them homely even though they were cool, they were very broken. I like that they tried something new with the focus attack in 4 since it could be used to party attacks but could be broken through EX moves

MrGSTAR, In all actuality, I found Dudley to be easy to play with in all iterations of SFIII. As a matter of fact I'd prefer him over M.Bison/Balrog if I just wanted to utilise the sweet science.

You need an emulator to play the rom, you can try to get something like mame or if you love fighting games, fightcade.
Hey GStar321 have you played the evil within yet? if not i know how much you love survival horror and this is the best since Resident evil 4. Its basically the sequel to RE 4. Very similar game yet a bit more violent and scarier. Its pretty damn difficult too dude. Its right up your alley for sure man. Best game to come out in a long time imo. I would like to see you do a blind playthrough of it haha. Shinji Mikami did an excellent job 9.5/10. hopefully capcom takes notes for Resident evil 7

The voice acting and music is a lot better in third strike. Not only that, but the sound quality is far improved as well. And a lot of people are saying the stages are a lot cooler in this game, but I think they are about equal. Some are better here, some are better in third strike. Would be cool if they had some of these stages in 3rd strike, though.

Sometimes i think when i listen to necros theme on here is that this is what they made akuma"s theme in street fighter 3rd strike
but its a little difrrent.

Also dreamcast is the only system to have the 1st to sf3 games because nothing at the time could handle it except dreamcast. by the time PS2 came out sf3 third strick was the latest and still newest. I think they felt it would be pointless to to sell a game from 97/98. though I actually hate 3rd strike

yea and sean wasnt messed up with that silly uppercut, the backgrounds seemed to have more things going on as well and had actual meaning to the storys background. also the voices were better with some characters. Ryus hadoken voice sound WAYYY better in my opinion. also the punching sounds (not the kicking sounds) are also harder. sound was changed in 3Strike.

Street Fighter alpha 2 had parries it came out 96
3rd strike while having a more polished gameplay, did not have their sound refined. the music in 3rd strike sounded so mono and mumbled. The stages are not as interesting in 2nd impact. 2nd impact had more clearer crisp audio, and a shin akuma. My personal favorite is 2nd impact and then new generation and then 3rd strike.
