I guess a little bit of personal experience on the lobbies since I’ve been going through SJ as well
Beginner: if you completed summit, you can do this. Any B and C side completions will also be of help, but for the most part that’s unnecessary. Bar a few exceptions, you should have no problem with these, and it’s mostly a warmup to modded Celeste. Most of these mechanics WILL show up in harder lobbies
Intermediate: I recommend up to summit B side and part of farewell (up to event horizon). The tech here in the gym is FUNDAMENTAL for the entire rest of the upcoming levels. Most levels here will use a super, or a hyper/wave, or a wall bounce, and they will not go away in the later lobbies.
Advanced: here’s a tip. Do beat all vanilla levels before this lobby, and maybe throw in moon berry or all 175 red berries. Some more important tech here (neutral jumping, reversals, mid-air super, and hyper b-hop). Not too much to say about this one. Some really good levels, and some really bad ones. The heartside here, will be much similar to past and less experienced you back in farewell or 7C room 3, do not fear it
Expert lobby: this is the one I’m in, and yet to fully beat most of the levels (all of expert green and that’s it). From what I can say, apparently this is the best lobby of levels and heartside. The gym tech here is a gateway for what lies in grand master, the ultra is vital in GM, dream hypers and supers are keys to learning the core tech, and corner boosts have there uses as well in GM.
Grandmaster: my only experience with this tier of difficulty is from doing the gym’s tech and a little bit of pinball (beat room 1/7 at least). To start, 4 levels are beyond red, the “cracked” levels. These levels (the solar express, pinball purgatory, nelumbo, ivory), are a cut of difficulty above the rest, through the 18 levels of GM, you will be test across all types of Celeste gameplay (holdables, input density, speed, precision, cycles, dashless, cassette block, ect.) The heartside is the final test of this lobby, the hardest thing in this collab (I think it’s on the hard levels list too). Only one word describes the level, apotheosis.

If you have done farewell you wont have much of a problem with advanced lobby, assuming you dont have anger issues

true, anger / frustration hinders improvement and learning a ton

@@Citrus_TV Currently on expert lobby it just takes a lot longer on each map and I dont really wanna put all that time in. Maybe one day i come back to it

@PostalXD its much better to revisit and be able to continue to enjoy long term, u can always play easier stuff if you don’t wanna improve ^^

@@PostalXDjust play some other easier mods or something if expert is tiring you. You can always try spring collab if you want

@@Abucoc Its not that its tiring its just like advanced was like 1 hour per which was pretty good time, now its 2 hours for the yellow difficultys so its just I dont have.

a fun way to play seeing is believing alone is to see the level first then close your eyes and try to remember what the level was like and using audio cues to move through the level without looking
