a year or two later how is it?
Great video as always
@2:27 KMC chains are one of best on market.
I use this brand for few years, and never fail.
Need a good chain if your constantly sending 500-1000 watts through the drivetrain.

Awesome, have a great trail here Reno area up the river, but there's a couple tough climbs to get up/down back to the river road. I plan to get setup to fly fish, so need a great climber and some single track, which of these would I get?
Very interesting. Apparently Ananda is building a service center in the U.S. So, hopefully, it will be possible to get service by the time you need it.
Very interesting. Apparently Ananda is building a service center in the U.S. So, hopefully, it will be possible to get service by the time you need it. By the way, have you heard of the new project I found called the freebeat Morph e-bike? It's a 2-in-1 eBike that allows you to charge the bike when you apply indoor mode. It has a brushless 750W motor with 80Nm torque, reaching a top speed of 20mph. With its impressive 80mm front suspension and puncture-resistant fat tires, it ensures a smooth ride in any condition. Plus, it offers a unique blend of fitness and technology with its Smart Saddle Detection+ feature. Just thought you might be interested in learning about this new innovation! Keep enjoying your eBike riding experience!
Looks good, would have been interesting to see what it was like to pedal when out of power - or system switched off, as some mid drives are apparently very difficult, while others are not so bad..

Ty, Glad you enjoyed it!
@tailhappytv - you were pretty positive about the VanPowers mid-drive bike a few weeks back. How would you compare and contrast this bike against that one? With the savings on this one, would it be worth throwing fenders and a rear rack on this one compared to the other? I'm interested in getting a commuter, but I live in a snowy northern city, so something like the the Aventon Aventure.2 was on my radar, but reading about mid-drive motors makes them interesting, if I can find one it a fairly reasonable budget. Being Class3 certainly makes this more interesting to me than the VanPowers, but I want fenders and a rack.
Love that area to bike at. Just wish is wasnt so far away from me.
Mid drive is awesome if you want speed and torque, because it runs the chain, which means you can use gears with the motor. There are also gear options, you can change gears to suit your needs better. It does come with more wear and maintenance, but if you are an enthusiast, thats probably not an issue.
If you use mid drive, you may want to get used to pulling your brake a little bit, to cut the motor, as you change gears, if you dont its kinda rough on the bike.
Ananda is a sanskrit word that means “ the joy of togetherness “ and is the simple explanation of why atoms bond resulting in things bigger than an atom , but fails to explain why everything isn’t one lump …
@@jeffreyfarrington4299 because of the joy of togetherness would be a thing without separateness and also because everything is not created in a vacuum you need relantionships
I have the gear cut off to !
I got one for half price because someone apparently didn't know how to use it. The chain was damaged from shifting under power. As a result it would derail. New chain & it's good as new.
@@JasonSmith-wj2ht I got a used one last year, and ive been riding it hard on a thrashed chain. I did get a brand new chain that is tough enough for ebiking, and special lube (muc off ebike lube) I havnt tried it yet, but I expect it wlll hold up much better than the stock chain
Parked at Fiji Way and Admiralty back in late 1990, was my place to power walk, You might want to also try Manhattan to Redondo Beach boardwalk
Great review! By the way, what camera are you using? It's very stable. Thanks in advance!
For a mid-drive e-bike with a 130Nm of torque that will have a lot of power going up hills with ease. The price is fantastic, nothing beats having a mid-drive as opposed to a hub motor. I have both variants, prefer the mid-drive hands down. Great video, thanks for shooting and editing it.
I’ve had this bike for a few days after being inspired by this video. The torque is unreal, if makes your legs feel bionic even in the lowest setting. I live on the east coast near the Blue Ridge Mountains and can agree 100% mid-drive for climbing hilly terrain wins hands down. Just hope the Ananda drive holds up!
@@btsc1 Hope you enjoy your new e-bike 👍💯
I want a mid drive. I've got a 1500w hub motor bike I put together and the top speed is excellent but can definitely feel my particular motor is lacking in torque it slows down a lot on hills. I see CYC sell a mid drive capable of accepting 3000w which I'm very tempted with lol.
@@btsc1 just got this bike how has it been holding up? especially the battery?
Have you tried the RAEV Bullet GT yet? I heard its a good super73 imitation and I might be buying it.
@TailHappyTV Based on your review of the Hurricane and some other inputs, I purchased one and really like it. Been on some good distance rides (around 40 miles) and tested on some pretty steep hills and knocks it out of the park. Question: I want to get a backup/additional battery for the Hurricane for longer distance rides/climbs, don't seem to be getting any response from ReAspire. Any idea where I can pick up a third-party additional battery that's compatible with the Hurricane? Thanks and always enjoy/learn from your reviews. Great job!
Hello thank you so much for all of your videos I have been watching quite a few of them and I think I have finally narrow down my choice this bike seems like the perfect match for me I have a couple questions hoping maybe you would be able to respond or somebody else possibly just a few concerns / questions
1 purchasing this bike directly from their website or purchasing it from Amazon which is the safer choice also on Amazon I'm wondering why they sell under a different name.
My biggest concern with any e-bike purchase is where will the company be in two or three years if I need parts?
How long has this company been around do you know how confident are you that they will be around 4 many years.
Final question for comfort and long rides just like you I am a tall rider I'm 6 ft 4 34-in inseam 210 lb
Do you think this style of ebike is best versus something like the the moped style ??
Thanks again for all your help your videos have been extremely helpful in narrowing down my choice. ✌️❤️🍻
I will say having a tapered head tube on the frame is surprising
Over all which one the better choice: Vanpowers UrbanGlide ULTRA midMotor or this ReAspire-Hurricane midMotor. Who have better factory support? Thanks for imput.
thanks for the test, seems like a very good value for the price and performance... what is the weight?
Huge battery, hydraulic brakes and a mid-drive...nice! In my mind this bike competes with another low-cost emtb, the Hyper E-Ride 29 ($1500). That one is lighter, full-suspension, but comes with mechanical brakes and a smaller 36V battery. I've owned the Hyper as well as more expensive m600 bikes and I am stunned at how good these no-name mid-drives are. I would bet the mid-drive on the bike you reviewed will go a gazillion miles with no issues. As a pure e-mountain bike the throttle isn't as important, but I sure miss having one for commuting and running errands.
They sell a add-on throttle for this bike.
If you want a huge battery you can buy a kit with a 25 or even 30 ah battery that makes that 15ah look small. I probably get 40+ mile range with no effort pedaling or more with effort at 20 mph.
Throttles are available to add-on.
Display is pretty but those welds! Really chunky looking.
Your reviews are fantastic! I used your link and ended up ordering one. I’m 6’4” with a 32” inseam which may be pushing the limits. Hope this bike doesn’t disappoint. Thanks!
🙏 I hope you love it, it’s one of the few bikes I’m keeping for my personal use!
@btsc1 How is the bike? I am 6’5” and considering to buy one, curious if you happy with the purchase.
@@AnatoliyStrilets So far the bike has been a blast. The Ananda drive is amazing, tons of torque and quiet. I’ve upgraded the pedals and the “spring” seat post to a solid one with more length to accommodate my height. I’ve also installed a 45 degree bar riser. All combined less than $60 and vastly improved the fit and feel. If the bike holds up I may consider a better front fork down the road. I guess it’s a gamble when buying these Chinese e-bikes but so far so good.
Just a little update on the ReAspire for anyone considering this bike. My LCD display resets the odometer to zero after every power cycle and the Ananda drive developed a popping/cracking noise after 35 miles of light road use while in any PAS modes. I’m in communication with the seller on Amazon to resolve the issue.
@@btsc1any luck working with the seller?
LOL on putting a polarized film wrong on the display. Simple test at the factory, too.
Many sites are saying this is 74lbs! That is crazy heavy. My current bike is this heavy and I'm getting rid of it.
I've narrowed down my choice selection to this bike and the hay bike Braun. ?? Any thoughts which one is the better bike they are the exact same price. ??
On the Mfg's site they show a thumb throttle, wonder if it can be added to this bike?
I am on the lookout for a mid drive 250 watt class 1 mountain bike and I am 6'4" I say 250 watt because I want to use in National Parks and state parks every chance I get. Trek verve+ seems to be the only ebike I've found to fit the bill. This one I think would be great, I love the price, Would the 500 watt motor be a setback at all? Are ebike regulations on trails on the honor system? opinions are appreciated.
I'm 6'2" 204 lbs and want an e-bike for rural village in the Philippines. Most of the roads have potholes, sometimes pavement, gravel, pavement. It rains a lot too. Would love your top 2-3 recommendations (not fat tire bikes) for a situation like that
Mid drive eliminates the possibility of Regen braking, so you need old fashioned brakes you can rely on and you lose the ability to charge the battery while descending long hills.
However, you do get some advantages, when driving them. When you don’t need lots of torque you can select a higher gear and reduce the motor noise.
I’m still not going to be spending that sort of money on a bicycle, though. Even if I can overcome my fear of thermal runaway in the battery, it still seems way too much for what you get.
For half as much, I can have a comfortable seat, a roof, heater, stereo, and no risk of it burning me alive in the middle of the night.
It says from $899.00 and then you click on it and it goes away or changes to $1,699.00. That must be the used price if they've ever got those in stock.
19:24 I love the text on the back side of the roller skater girl

What brand does cut the power when you shift?
Not going to lie it looks a bit like a flx f5 bike but lower quality. Although when I got my flx bike the cassette had some issues but they resolved it.

Nothing climbs hills like The Ananda. Reid, Australia's biggest bike mfg uses them.
It would be interesting to know of they use some other manufacturer's mounting bolt patter to mount the mid-drive unit to the frame or if they use their own proprietary bolt mounting pattern.|
i.e. - can I swap out the provided mid-drive unit for something else from... Bafang, Shimano, Bosch, etc.
(edit): Also... no one who uses sunglasses in the professional world - pilots, motorcyclists, firearms, military, etc - use polarized sunglasses. "Polarized" is just a marketing gimmick the general public fell for and were convinced were somehow 'better'. Polarization can be useful in very rare use cases, but in the vast majority of the time, polarization significantly decreases visual acuity and increases distortion.

How you prevent the battery from being stolen
When I stopped the video to look at specs on the charger. I believe it said "Caution this charger is for 54.6v batteries only"!!!!
There’s a very similar bike to this sold in Australia by Reid Cycles called the E-Trail. Same Ananda M100 motor but lower specced battery at only 36V, and sold for 2000 AUD which is 1300USD. It’s got a better SR Suntour Air fork with 130mm and remote lockout, Tektro hydraulic brakes, and a 9 speed Shimano Altus though. Very curious how they perform actually. It’s not a bad price now that I think about it
check out my latest video with the Async H7, it has this same motor and I pushed it a bit harder in this review
@@TailHappyTV Cheers mate. Will give it a watch now. Thanks
Wondering why torque sensor bikes don't give a throttle, I'd need that...Off topic question if you don't mind, the suspension adjustment, it looks like there are two on my discover, a red and yellow, do I just use the red with the +/- sign?
Because throttle is illegal in EU. Chinese manufacturer does not want to sell two different products for US and EU.
Fantastic review! The only thing this bike needs is a throttle for quick take-offs when needed. Do you have any idea if it's possible to add a throttle?
I can recommend the Lectric XPremium if you want that. Same price, but with throttle and cruise control, and a more proven 500W mid drive motor. I've had mine for a few months and a couple hundred miles and so far, love it. Only downside is it is much heavier, over 70lbs. Makes it hard to steal though!
My Aventon Pace 500 has a thottle. Quick take-offs from start with a throttle is hard on your motor and gears.
Basically what you rode in this video is my typical ride. Even the boat ramp. A few steeper hills but it seems like this could handle them. I can pedal my 42 lb reg mountain bike up them.
Hey there! I stumbled upon a new project called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 eBike and it seems like it could handle your typical ride, even the boat ramp and steeper hills. The standout feature of this eBike is that it can be charged indoors, which is pretty cool! With its brushless 750W motor, you'll experience exhilarating speed and power, while the 80mm front suspension and puncture-resistant fat tires ensure a smooth ride in any condition. Plus, the Smart Saddle Detection+ feature motivates you to achieve your fitness goals. It's definitely worth checking out! 🚴♂️
That's impressive I'm surprised they're putting 1200w to a 500w motor, I could be wrong but I think the 500w bafang has an 18amp controller only about 900w +/-
I put 1000w /52v 22amp through a 250w hub motor 🙏 easy with no heat ,here in England its rarely hot enough to warm up a hub motor 😅🇬🇧
Best performance upgrade for any of the smaller ebikes is a 22amp controller with the bigger mossfets and only $50

Yes it does

Sad to say, followed the link, and the company site says this product is(as of 3/12/2024) "unavailable"... I guess I'm not getting one anytime soon. Bummer.
An e-bike with no throttle is for real bikers right? Ya know I mean people that want to pedal all the time or ride difficult technical trails.
I have a hard time understanding why any e-bike would not have a throttle. I use mine all the time and will not buy my next bike without one !
This bike seems like a bargain. I was looking to buy a Ride 1 up Prodigy XC. This one is $500 cheaper but seems like it has “less” expensive components. Definitely makes me consider this one for the price
I've never rode the prodigy, but I was impressed with this Ananda mid drive, I see another popular company is using this same motor in an unannounced product I'll be reviewing this summer. I like that it does not cut you off at 20 mph unlike the bafang m600.
@@TailHappyTV The Prodigy is using a Brose motor which makes me think it is hopefully a better long term investment?? Thanks for your response
@@freedomlineman3105 the ananda doesn’t seem to have any reliability reports that I could find but the motor does seem to have been around for a few years. The bafang motors are chinese and basically are bulletproof, but I really don’t know for sure. It felt like a great motor though.

The battery amount is perfect for a 500w motor, and in particular a mid drive with torque sensing. The only complaint I’d have is the tires, but I shouldn’t really as it is built as a mountain bike. I guess the only real “complaint” would be the weight. If it were 35lbs max then it would be a no brained to get

Right now bikes are getting cheaper than ever. The used market is oversaturated as are new old stock worldwide. It's a wonderful time to be a bicyclist or get into the sport. Not the best time to be a bike shop or an ebike startup.
I will say however that the most important component of an ebike are the battery and the motor. Neither can be garbage or the whole system will be bad. The battery in this unit looks to be no-name brand Chinese company which does not bode well for Safety.
For comparison, my Aventon Ramblas is UL certified, and the batteriest are sourced from LG & Samsung. The battery alone costs $500. That's a high capacity, high quality battery cell you're paying for with Aventon.
Just food for thought. This "ananda" motor is also no name, it has a torque sensor AND a cadence sensor?
This bike is a classic example of trying to do everything while succeedding at doing not much well.
I'm wondering... Is this bike worth passing on an Aventon Adventure 2 for speed and comfort? Aventon Adventure 2 has the Torque type sensor drive but rear hub and a bit heavier.
No!! It’s not. The aventon has a throttle, which this bike doesn’t have. There’s also no headlight or taillight on this bike
Aventon has a good reputation and dealership network.
But using the lack of a throttle, headlight and tail lights is a lame excuse. Not to acknowledge this mid-drive ebikes outstanding value.
I'm not even looking for this style of ebike and I'm tempted to buy one?
Do you want an e bike with a throttle or not? That’s what you must ask yourself lol.
