I have a friend that owns an e-bike. As a shade tree mechanic, I became that person's e-bike mechanic. In my servicing, repairing, and test riding that bike, I've gotten interested in using an e-bike as a source of exercise other than my treadmill. I have heart failure, so when I'm done exercising, I'm done. Which is why I hadn't bought another standard bicycle or go on walks very often. I stumbled on your channel researching e-bikes and your energy, format, and showing the ups and downs of each model has me watching all of your videos.

The fact that you choose this Wired Freedom for your preferred ride on at least one vid I've watched is very telling. One thing: I would suggest a helmet at alltimes while riding, especially when flying along at 40mph!

no issues at all! i would rate my experience a 10/10! the range is amazing, but I have not rode it enough yet to give you an accurate answer on that@@Beendan
In my experience, you will rarely use PAS 5 so don’t worry about the range.

The 2024 Wired Freedom is EXACTLY what Matt said it was.( LARGE AND IN CHARGE ! ) This thing is VERY Fun! Very Powerful ! Just a hoot to ride ! And doesn't beat you up on rough surfaces. Every where I go it turns heads, and people ask me about it. And Yes, I have peddled this bike Well over 40 MPH ! (with a slight tail wind) . It was Well worth the wait !

The Wired freedom comes with a firm seat. It’s nice but nothing to brag about.
Aftermarket seats are not that expensive and easy to change .

After watching your review of the 2023 Freedom back in August, I had no problem pulling the trigger for this bike. Only to find out later that I will be receiving the New and Improved 2024 version ! This review was just as incentivizing as the first one last summer ! As I still haven't received my bike, it was REALLY nice the see the 2024 in Blue, in your review ! I am So stoked about my purchasing decision ! This bike is a SMOKEN deal at this price range ! I've had 3 months to find a better deal, at these exact specs ( with the BMX handlebars) and I can not ! Good job !

please don't call these mopeds or motorcycles even if they feel like it some times. not even jokingly. Powers that be will see this and take this freedom away from people who can't afford cars. Kids will need licenses to get to school. people who work will now need to go queue at DMVs about electric motorcycles... These are Bicycles and nothing more. just a little bit of a boost here and there so you don't get to work sweaty
This is such a good point. I personally do not depend on my ebike as I use it to make my commute to work and short shopping trips more enjoyable. Unfortunately our government, and please let's not turn this into a one party vs the other party thing...they BOTH SUCK as far as I'm concerned) is always trying to find ways to separate us from out liberties AND hard earned cash. As soon as they figure out how to license, register, tax and insure us...they will.

As an actual cyclist. Sorry, these aren’t “bicycles”. They have motors, accelerate and decerate fast than any regular bike can, much heavier, not including rider, than any regular bicycle made. They DONT belong on the bike path he was riding on either. Him showing us quickly he can accelerate on that path down there on the beach and up the California incline with people walking is a perfect example of how eventually somebody will get hit. They don’t belong on actual bicycle paths. Maybe the street.

I’m actually trying to decide between the two bikes haha. I need to ride 20-30 miles with 40-60lbs of cargo. Any thoughts between the two bikes? I want to avoid becoming exhaust at the end of the work day, which is why I like the Wired, but the A6 is purpose built for cargo.

I have 2 of these 2024 Freedoms, the blue and the orange. So far they have been amazing! If they can beef up the shipping boxes a little better so they don't get scratched during shipping this would be absolutely perfect.

@@melrobinson6919 it is nice that they included that. They wrap them in plastic wrap which is good because the orange bottle was busted and leaked out, but luckily it didn't get on the bike or anything else. I have a few small dings on both bikes but nothing super major.
So far on the Blue I have 107 miles, and the orange about 70. These are the first eBikes I've ever owned so I can't really compare them to anything else, but so far they have been great.
I'm waiting for Black Friday to purchase a Hollywood Bike Rack so I can start taking the bikes to trails to really test them out.

I had a 56t in the front when i was racing. I got a speeding ticket on Roscoe Blvd 30 years ago going 38mph. Ebikes like that make feel 20 again.

After you try a 60v bike, you will never want a 48v bike again. After you try a full suspension e bike, you will never want a hard tail. Wired really has THE bike and the price is ridiculously low considering the alternatives. Wired should really raise their prices until they can catch up with demand. Some complain about a $250 shipping charge, but lowering the price by including shipping at this point might push the wait times out to six months. Anyone on the fence should order soon as the factory can only make so many units annually and the new model is just now being delivered in mass. You can always cancel if the reviews are bad or something more appealing comes to market before delivery.
After sharing the Freedom bike reviews with all my friends, one has already pulled the trigger. And 2 others are seriously considering the same thing. This bike is so extraordinary it's really a no brainer ! The almost 3 month wait for delivery is the only down side.
I think they are trying to market the bike at the $2k price point. That’s probably smart. If they included shipping they need to make it up someplace. There is also shipping insurance at $75+/- bucks. Don’t like it, but get it. It’s money either paid in the list or the total. A business can’t operate at a loss. And… a near by Midwest buyer can fuel up their own vehicle and do a pick-up?
@@Doc.HolidayI picked mine up in person back in June. They will also assemble the bike for you for free, good if you want to make sure it’s perfect before delivery. They seem committed to continual product improvement and keeping the price at $2000. I thought the version I bought to be a great value at $2000, the new one is so much better with much more expensive components and it’s still $2000. By this time next year, the Freedom may have bigger brakes, a thru axle fork, dual battery option and still be $2000.

My Freedom was supposed to be delivered this month (Nov-23) but they are experiencing trucking delays. Coms are great! My last eBike (stolen) company was impossible to talk to anyone. Coms were email only with 48 hour reply’s. Steve is a breath of fresh air. Hope to be riding soon. Best…

Apart from being on the 60V platform vs the 48V, how would you compare this bike to the Mokwheel Basalt?
The nice thing about the Mokwheel is the high payload capacity of 400 pounds, good for riders who are over 250 pounds. Can the Wired bike support a larger rider? Also how well of a job does the rear swing arm do at absorbing wheel hop? Because, with a rear drive instead of a mid-drive that is my concern being a heavier rider.

I have been doing the same and now that wired has a cruiser with 2 batteries and upgraded everything. Still for 2k I just pre ordered one but Im close to Chicago so I can pick it up.
These are Anderson PowerPole style connectors and can be used with a small locking pin through the holes in the connectors so they can't pull apart.
Does anybody know if Wired normally installs this locking pin and it was just overlooked in production? Anderson connectors are usually pretty tight even without a locking pin so maybe it was just never fully connected to begin with? I don't think one day's riding should cause this...even that hill should not cause this, so I'm betting it was loose from the get-go.

I've seen so much on this bike. My conclusion is top speed throttle 37-38mph and pedal assist 40 mph .. Great torque!
Why is suspension clunking? Does yours make that noise?
My legal-ish e bike 500w 750 max does 28 throttle only and 31 pedal assist 8 gear . It cost half what this bike costs. This one looks more fun though ngl lol
@@user-oy9zy4ds9m Mine is 750w but only does 20 throttle only, I don't understand how mine only goes 20mph but 250w ones go around 15-17mph. If I lift wheel up and do full throttle, it goes 24 :/ I am sure it's not correct but could be wrong.
@@Neilukuk go deep into the bike’s settings see if your allows you to change the power output, max speed, PAS output etc. Mine lets me change virtually everything to any percent 0-100%, from the factory the default settings were low and lame I had to go and change them all. Now my 500/750 puts out 999 watts, accelerates much faster, ……. Probably not good for longevity but it gets me well over 30 mph quickly with just moderate pedaling . I can also change the cadence sensitivity to where I barely touch the pedals and motor gives me instant full 999 watts

It doesn't help with speed though :( Do you know what would happen if i rigged up a display that might not be compatible for my controller but connect the correct wires together? What stops some displays only working on certain controllers? Thanks for your help.

Do not tell a private bike shop that this bike goes over 28mph otherwise they will not touch it because of liability concerns. I got my black one delivered on Monday & this bike is an absolute U N I T! It won't really fit in the bed of my 2019 RAM LIMITED. I'm 5 foot 9, 185ish pounds and this bike will run you over if you're in front of it. I assembled it myself but somehow got the derailer cable tapping on the rear wheel spokes (chain got knotted up) 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️.. Wanted a bike shop to fix it. One said because I didn't buy the bike from them, they can't touch it. Another said because it goes over 28 mph (I was running my mouth about the bike) that he can't touch it either. The second guy told me how to. Went home and did what he said. It's fixed now. I was kinda upset that they only shipped me one charger when I paid $50.00 for a second one because I hope to get an extra battery in the future. My bike came with a few chips in the pain. They aren't noticeable. For some reason, the Tailhappy50 discount code doesn't work anymore. I'll do a whole video on my wired freedom on my channel possibly this weekend. I've said enough, gotta go shop around for a shop that will fix my wired freedom just in case something bad happens.

What do you think about using this on hills, rocky dirt and trails ? We live up here in New Hampshire lots of trails. I need something to go out on the trails with my pups.

The red and black connector is called an Anderson power connector. On the connector is two small holes spitting the red and black, there is a lock pin designed to press into the two holes keeping the connector from separating.

Need your advice! My wife who is 5'8 wants a full suspension fat tire ebike. Mostly road with medium off road capability. She was wanting the wired freedom but not sure if she would be happy 🤷♂️ with seat height and power? She wants to pedal some for the exercise! Any thoughts?

A small but significant tip is to change the C5 setting to 10, it over doubles your acceleration.. as it's limited, even while feeling plenty powerful. Makes hill climbing and offroading far easier

How does it do on gravel roads with dust? As using as a hunting bike.
I'd also say this bike is an optical illusion. From a distance, it looks like a kids BMX bike (with added rack & fenders) but as you come closer to it, it gets bigger & bigger.
I could do everything I need to and more on this bike, lol , I'm retired and everything in my life is within 2 miles of my home, most of the places and stores are even closer than that. With a backpack or a small " grocery rack , I would only need my car for the rainy ☔ days..🤔

My biggest concern with purchasing my first e-bike is the issue many are facing with backwards compatibility and proprietary systems. I went to Wired's website and noticed the '23 battery only works with the '23, and the '24 only works with the '24. That's worrisome for someone who doesn't plan on buying a $2000 ebike every year. I was really close to pulling the trigger, too.

@@TheCardmaker2317 It means replacement batteries will be very hard to get down the road as the model of bike is sunset (or no longer produced) because the batteries are matched to each bike.
So when a bike is sunset the battery most likely will be too.

Would switching out the bmx bars to mountain bike bars be a better option? I like the aggressive style of mountain bike bars and the bmx bars seem to be to upright.
Awesome review! I'm looking at the Eahora Juliet and this one. Both bikes look strong; but if you were to choose one, which would you get for your style of riding?
Juliet if you want to ride for a long time (60 miles or more), get the Freedom if you want an adrenaline rush but only 30 miles of range. Wired is my choice personally, I never want to be on a bike for more than 30 miles most of the time, Wired fits me well also

Is the bikes brakes rated for 40 mph breaking. I’m sure it can stop but will the breaks continually handle the 40 mph braking. If you ride at 40mph how long will the battery last?
Can you do the test while its still in class 2 mode. I want know how it handles hill like that

I have a very important question. Did you change the C5 setting from the default setting of 4 up to 10 prior to the 20% hill climb test? Because if it did that climb on factory 4 setting then thats crazy. Can't imagine how quickly it would climb that hill if set to 10...🤯🤯🤯

Did it come shipped being able to go 40 mph? Website says its shipped as a class 2 for 20 mph only
you should really add a review of each bike on what it's like to ride it 5 miles back to the house on a dead battery or electrical system. That seems pretty important.
I can tell you this fact right here. If it’s a moped style 20 inch wheel ebike you will not be able to pedal it without power. You’re pushing those. If it’s a normal size bike or fat tire one it’s not too bad, just like riding a regular bike with some added weight and very doable

Im happy with my Ariel Rider Kepler for $1,799 ..Just about 2 mph less in throttle only and PAS speeds. No rear suspension but for me the suspension seat post is fine. A tad less torque for take off and hills.. But a Kepler is so much better than most all non Moped bikes under $2,000 for power and speed. Kepler is on sale $1,699 no shipping fees.

Mine just came. Had Chaoyang tires. No touch up paint. This is a very big bike (compared to my Velotric Discover 1 and T1ST) and it is challenging to swing your leg over the rack-you best start stretching! I now see the logic of 20 and 24 inch tires. I'm 5-10 and 180#. It's quite the machine to master and will keep it in class 2 for awhile...
Those Chaoyang tires have a 20lb maximum air pressure!
I hear you. We see lots of 26" and 20" fat tire ebikes but I'm thinking a 24" would be a sweet spot for lots of people including me. Very few 24" fat tire bikes to choose from.
I own the '23 model, and a small but significant tip is to change the C5 setting to 10, it over doubles your acceleration.. as it's limited, even while feeling plenty powerful
10 seemed way to jerky for me, I settled on 6. Also, 10 seemed a little unsafe because sometimes you can kick on PAS unintentionally by slight movements of the pedals. Having that twitchy of acceleration when stopped for a passing bus or say near a steep drop off on a trail can put you in a spot to not have time to stop yourself before disaster. I found a better setup is the 6 setting but having the throttle setting on max all the time for when you need those quick bursts of acceleration.
I recently purchased an orange wired freedom, it's supposed to arrive this coming week, but your, more as in this video was the main reason I decided to go with it. And for a fact why I looked in and got proper protection for my bike as I'm a derailer guard. Without this video idk if I would've had the same insites as before if I hadn't watch this video

PS Just got my 2024 Freedom a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love the changes Wired made......particularly as these changes were unknown at the time of the order, so they were a gift. Also I do mostly street riding on semi smooth roads so I opted to change the Chao Yangs to HEB alscapes and although they do of course ride rougher, the puncture resistance tracking, traction, feedback and response they provide is well worth it to me. Also unlike some reviews of the tires I have seen, I did an A vs B road test at various speeds cruise speeds and they provided basically identical watt output as well as only slowing the bike by maybe 1/2 mph at top speed. In addition one big surprise was the low speed acceleration seemed to actually improve, despite the tires being heavier.....I would guess this is due to the sidewalls not torsionally damping the harmonics of the motor.

The cadence sensor on the Troxus Explorer is awesome too. On my Explorer I put on a 52 tooth chainring, cassette with an 11 tooth cog, and Duro Beach Bum 26x3 slick tires. I can go 34 mph gps. Not bad for a 750 watt bike. The max wattage I've seen on the display is 1000w.

I have a weird model. Not 23 year or 24 year. I say 23 1/2 year model. I have Samsung batteries. Plenty of rear wheel, controller clearance. I think but cant confirm the "swing arm" is longer? Way beefier rear rack with then what I think new one has even or old one. Still have plastic fenders and the non kenda, chang or what ever china tires. And the rear suspension same style as old. But set rear spring to lightest is real nice but cant say better then 24 model without knowing and the new one looks great. Awesome bike! And the new one is better it appears with front suspension. But I do think my rear rack is better. I do still have the 52 tooth. Which is good in my eyes because I only pedal to look like fitting in and not get in trouble or if the battery is dead which I would rather have smaller for ease. Yes slower but easier. lol
I did crash and ruined front disk to wobble a bit. Worked fine still just annoyed me. I replaced it to 203mm because it was only like 20 bucks so why not. Easy fix if you believe your 180mm aren't enough which I did not they are great from factory.
I did kill a battery(samsung new style plug) by shorting it out doing something stupid I shouldn't have done. Just nothing dead non working. I freaked out bought another instantly. Then tore old one apart and there is an internal automotive fuse in there so easy fix and now have two batteries. Hard expensive lesson but I have 2 now so yay me. lol
Anyways I love it (mine) and would recommend it (mine or the new one I feel great to say) to anyone I would being a few inches shorter so maybe 5'8"? or taller! Awesome bike!
