The NHL Has A Connor Bedard Problem...

  • Connor Bedard's return to the ice. The reactions on Twitter to Bedard's comeback is overhyped, the league is overpromoting him. Bedard is still a frontrunner for the Calder however. The NHL's promotion strategies are really questionable. Do you think this much attention on Bedard is good, or is it overshadowing other aspects of the NHL? The NHL has a marketing problem for sure. Way too much focus on Bedard. The guy blinks and there's articles about it everywhere. Meanwhile actually newsworthy things are happening all across the league but are met with radio silence.

I get your critique, but you LITERALLY put Bedard's name in your video title, and then complained about people on Twitter doing the exact same thing. How embarrassing.

I was thinking about that while making the video, honestly I just wanted to make a video because I was annoyed at everyone hyping Bedard after being on the ice. But trust me, I felt the same way you felt when making it.

      @@behindtheboards then title it differently..

How should I have titled it then

@@behindtheboards I mean first of all you titled it as if it's the NHL with a problem yet it's CZcams. And you titled it so general that it has become click bait. So if your calling out CZcams maybe don't hide behind the title and name it "NHL CZcamsrs have a name dropping problem". Which, if you want to get into, NHL CZcamsrs are a form of reporters so of course there will be name dropping. The argument is kind of invalid bud.

Never wanted an argument just wanted to genuinely know. Thanks for the feedback!

Completely unrelated but I noticed a random tweet featured in this video talked about blackouts, and I agree that they are something that should not happen, anyone who is a fan of the Montreal Canadians or Ottawa Senators in all of Eastern Canada have no way to watch their games without a VPN

I understand blackouts in my business side of the things but I just don’t understand why. It ruins the spread of hockey. Doesn’t grow the game whatsoever. Might be the worst thing in the nhl

Bedard has a head up problem.

The commentary was good, I agree that the NHL still has a marketing problem. Using Bedard has been doing good to help grow the game, though there are other stars and young guns that can be marketed better. But those captioned tweets are Chicago sport promoters.... what do you expect them to post?!

The media has killed him for me. I'm tired of hearing about him already. The media has been so far up his butt all season that they could tell you what last night's dinner tasted like. If he burped and farted at the same time, they would make a highlight film out of it.

I can't stand National Bedard League news anymore. I'm admittedly biased as a Blues fan, but the Blues had two guys with hat-tricks in the same game earlier this year, pretty cool/rare occurrence... That night/next day? No mention of it on the frontpage of the NHL website. But you better believe there were multiple articles about Bedard after he played his first game somewhere or against someone or some non-story like that.

If they bring him back to soon
He may get re-injured for a more substantial injury .
