Mid century modern homes for sale - Cheap living in USA
[00:00:00] Why am I super stoked today? I've been doing this a long time. 38 years. Sometimes I'll shoot as many as a dozen houses in a month. Now done so like a lot, but I've been to a lot of houses. I have never shot a postmodern house before and it's very cool. I can see the allure. This is fancy schmancy stuff. First of all, the law is amazing, as you can see. And you're really close to the lake. I'll put it down here were Lake Cumberland, as is not very far at all, but this is just super cool. Now, is this a house you're gonna move right into? Maybe. Maybe not. You're probably gonna want to rip up the carpet. You know, carpet smells like especially old carpet. It smells like your grandmother's house. We've got to get that carpet out of there. That's first thing. Everything else is. So those are the thing. All right. Let me back up. Stop... So those are the things you can fix. So there's things you can fix. Some things you can't fix. You can't fix a bad law. Look at this. This reminds me of some of those lots in like Buckhead in Georgia that go for millions of dollars and then they just scrape the house, which is, you know, up to you. You buy, you do whatever you want with it. Mid-century modern homes for sale - Cheap living in USA
[00:03:35] But that's not a big deal. You're not going to like that colored carpet. I'd like to know what's under those floors. I tried to pull a little bit up and it is down there. Like it's like government work. I'll tell you what that is, is like NASA, that carpeting coming up for me to peek at. But when you come on out with Ken, you guys, you're serious about buying it? Let's pull a little thing up for you. He'll pull it up for you. Pull up a little corner and find out. Is there okay under here? There might be. I don't know. But regardless what it is, you're in good shape. The windows are like new. I don't know when the windows were put in. If I find out, I'll put it down here.
[00:06:49] Now, if you ask for a four bedroom and you don't want postmodern, I don't know if they can scan that or not, but you're not going to find that many postmodern houses in Kentucky anyway.
[00:08:52] But it yet it looks brand new. Look at it. Can't even wrote down possible a new furnace. It's not a new furnace at all. It's 9 years old, but that gone. Does it look good? Two hundred armed service. You're good to go. You can put anything in here you want. Wonderful city gas down here. That's a good question. All right. What does a sea foam carpet? This is real tile. That's real tile. I love that. Gus, you got to frame that, too, along with the red carpet. Red shag carpet. The walls are all white. Yikes. Some people think that's a good idea. Some people like it. They're like, man, you've got to pay in a house way. I'm like, I like it. Whatever you want to do, dude, I'm all for it. Mid-century modern homes for sale - Cheap living in USA.
[00:11:50] And he's engaged. Whatever floats your boat. Got a little clean out there for the bathroom on the other side. Everything works good. These bifocals never work in new houses, which tells me leads me to believe that this house was built by craftsman and not by just somebody who went to Lowe's and picked up some materials. Here we are 50 to 70 years later. And these doors are still colliding like a million bucks. Well, you can't get on the boat. Stay down. If you get the idea, they're gliding easily. Right. I talked briefly about the windows. And it's just me and you talk in. This is not real numbers you like marble and I'll like for Formica and but what are we talking about 20 grands. Okay so I'm way off. What are we talking about 30 grands? I think you can really do some beautiful decorator that here for 20 or 30 grand. Certainly 30 grands. Then when did you go. You've got one hundred and twenty-two hundred thirty thousand dollars in a post-modern house sitting on one of the most beautiful lots I've ever seen close to Lake Cumberland. Like for real. That's so we only say half right. So if it's one hundred and fifty right we cut that in half to 750. We might have another Mid-century modern homes for sale.

You're so busy finding fault that you're not appreciating the good bones in this house. Yes, the decor is old-fashioned, and yes, you'll probably need to update the breaker box, etc., but basically, it's a gem!

That's a very nice example of a mid-century modern home on a pretty lot, and it looks like it would only need a moderate amount of TLC to bring it right up to date - the kitchen and bathrooms would be liveable for a while without any updates. Makes a change from your huge multi-building farms Brad!

this one has been my favorite because I do love mid century modern. I would put two Raza flooring throughout the house. Take down any wallpaper. Take down the wooden Bannister and replace it with the glass banister on the stairwell. He's not really a whole lot to do to the house but I like a minimum list look throughout the house. 60 altra modern James Bond look. Zen less is more. That house just spoke to me and my heart more than any house you have shown so far in my opinion.

I would also see about putting in a window in the basement bedroom that is lacking one.

My 3rd house was an older home but was listed as remodeled. It looked it, the price was right and it had a beautiful yard, about 3/4s of an acre all oak trees and some huge cotton woods at the end of the yard. It was backed by a state park and that really sold me due to less noice. Had the bank inspector check it and he approved it. Then I had a private home inspector and he approved it. Bought it. Tube and knob electric lines, open well with a rotten wood cover in the basement. Family room in basement was awful behind the cheap paneled walls. You get the picture. I asked both inspectors if they would advice a sister or family member to buy this house. Affirmative, great house per both.. Must have hated their families and sisters. I got it up to code, fixed the awful parts and sold it for twice what I had bought it for do to obvious improvements. Well that and the market at that time. Put the extra money away and bought a new condo in cash once I found a good one. No remodeling just paint and floors. Yes!! Beward of inspectors.

But the view from the windows is really cool and house is well lighted by natural light which is very convenient and comfy. The small space at the basement is good for winery. 100k reno open main floor take the wall down between kitchen dining living breakfast rooms. Take out the massive fireplace and simplify it. Rework master bath even stealing space from other room. Other bathrooms obviously redone. The living room downstairs and bedrooms should be reworked all together so the bedrooms are bigger. Would be great if the staircase could be doubled in size. Garage is amazing. Would make a great rec room keep the garage door as is.

$100,000 grand to gut and renovate but keep the mid entity look. Floors, knock out some walls, gut bathrooms and kitchen, maybe add another bath or at least half bath since it’s a 4 bedroom, simple window treatments that disappear but are there if privacy is desired, replace front door and all interior door and closet doors and possibly even do complete redo of the closets, redo laundry room so both washer/dryer are together, interior/exterior paint, landscaping, hopefully doesn’t need roof replacement or furnace/water heater replacement, hope wiring is up to code, etc. I’d add a beautiful garden and pool to the backyard with a built in bbq grill. Love the house and the lot. I currently live with in a massive California house that I hate (husband picked it, lol). Moved from a beautiful house in GA last y at and before living in GA for five years, lived in Fort Lauderdale for 12 years in a midcentury ranch that I also loved. CA overpriced for no reason. Don’t get why people put up with these ridiculous prices. I could have bought my CA house in GA for under a million instead of the $2.5 million we spent. Oh brother. Simple is where it’s at.

Nice house, a steal at 100K. It's a Split Level, not a Tri-Level and that carpet is just red carpet, not shag. Shag carpet is long and stringy, you'd know shag carpet the minute you saw it. Shag is hideous. That house and size would go for at least $325K here in Greenville, SC.

A Post Modern home which is updated with modern colors, finishings and fixtures should be a VERY good investment.
(Provided it is purchased in the right price point with a good finance rate.). I wish we lived in the area.
There seems to be a trend toward Midcentury Modern furnishings, and they do not fit in just any home. If there was not a demand they wouldn’t be selling so well.
You mentioned the electric service being quite reasonable. All of that natural lighting should you save the new home owner a lot of money. We purchased a home a few years ago which has a lot of natural light and my husband was surprised at just how much it has helped our electric bill. (Other factors are the same, IE; insulation and electric provider)
Not many builders here in KY will produce this type of architecture because people here want a cabin or a brick house. But people are really missing out because they are great homes to live in. They generally have a great flow to them, which just make an easy home to live in. If you have ever lived in a poorly designed home you will understand what I mean. The “Open Concept” which is so popular came from Midcentury Modern architects.
I LOVE this home, but sadly we do not live in the area. Still thanks for the video and yes the lot is very nice as well.

Before moving in, replace most of the carpeting/flooring, take down the kitchen/dining room wall and renovate the kitchen. Because everything looks to be in good shape, the rest of the improvements (like redoing bathrooms) can be done over time. I'd try to retain some of the mid-century vibe. With four bedrooms and three baths, this is a good house for a large family at a reasonable price, with the potential to make it a showplace.

Real cool house, a later MCM but still has some good bones to work with.
As an architect, here’s the scoop for new the owner if they wanted to do it right: besides opening it up a bit, change out all the doors and cabinets to SLAB style doors, NOT raised panel, also replace those ridiculous turned spindles on the staircase with simple squared wood or metal pickets. Change out the door hardware to modern lever style and the cabinets to simple horizontal bars. Clean lines people, that is the signature Mid-Century-Modern style. Other than changing out the flooring, countertops to slab quartz and some modern fixtures you are good to go! If it were mine I would also drop and gang the windows together where possible for a more contemporary style.

Nice property. I would rip out all the rugs. I like the wallpaper in the rooms, though. I would not touch that. Having the money I would make sure the floors were hardwood and or granite tile. I would update the kitchen and the bathrooms.

full reno on this size house is 60-70k. Also, isn't that fireplace just a pass through? Meaning, 1 fire can see from both sides.

Can you recommend someone like you that’s in North Carolina? You are showing properties that I love. Old, rustic and of, the beaten path.

  • @Crazyreseller
    @Crazyreseller Před 4 lety +1

You ask for comments so here goes...you say “ish” but in a sales video you should state facts, not “ish”. Ive watched a bunch of your videos and i see the same comment over and over...how much and taxes? Can you put the darn price in the video, and not say $100ish? Also, an over head showing approx property lines. This house would be really nice with a $30k light remodel.
