Mid century modern that’s what you call this design. Definitely unfortunate to see a house like this with so much history being demolished. History in the sense of the way it’s designed.
I like this house. So much character and possibilities. Like the lay out. Love black bathroom with shiny wallpaper. Yellow bath with blue fixtures leave as is except change the wallpaper. Fire place is not a plus for me, but that room is great with all of the windows. Actually, I love this house. But, alas, it's a goner. So sad. Good video.
i grew up in a 1962 split level. This is a great example of a midcentury home. Has several issues that today's home buyers may have an issue with. 1, it's not that big, compared to the homes we could see across the street. 2, the kitchen is small, and no formal dining/eating space. 3) no basement. 4) one full bath. And the issue my mom hated was that tall ceiling in living room. We had a cathedral ceiling and mom hated that all the heat went up there.
Poor old place. This reminds me of a house in the neighbourhood when we lived in Thornhill. Keep up the great work. Always ready for the next adventure you show us.
Good video but if I was shopping for a house it wouldn't be my first choice. The kitchen is a real let down. Then we have the blue fixtures, yellow tile and brown wallpaper, what on earth were they thinking .😱
The tape behind the nails holding the "former" pictures on the wall, was put down BEFORE the nail was hammered into the plaster, so it won't crack. Drywall was starting to be used in the mid fifties, but some houses still had plaster walls. ( there are a few people TODAY who still like plaster walls, it's just very hard to find someone who knows how to do it )
Smell great like 50's... Shame that this house was empty & detroy for now. But mid century house are full of abestos & it's not just the only bad component they contain everywhere. That was the bigest problem with Housing , old building & factory... But that concern all product , Boats , Cars , Motorhome etc . So if you have astormic acompt of money to disinfect these place , they have a chance , in others way , they are doomed.
A nearly all original beaut I like alot though the kitchen is a tad too small. As is I bet it's a big pain to heat and noticeably colder at the bottom level near the floor. Must've had bad chimney flashing on the roof for mushrooms to grow on the ceiling. Overall I can understand it's demise. With the right mind, not so much of the money, but the right person with the appropriate design ethos could turn this into a really nice property... I would go down the direction of maybe mid-century transitional... and freak the daylights out of this place. The house is really good bones - but it has its issues - also, if you're going to do a redeux on a home like this house, be mindful the windows are going to be expensive. That said, it's money that has to be spent, because windows set the curb appeal for the home, so as a renovation expense... you just have to bite the bullet on it. With a little vision, and a little TLC this place could be stunning.
What I hate is South. We have a beautiful lake front along the southern shores of lake Michigan and there were some fantastically beautiful homes that were built in the late teens and early twenties that have been destroyed and replaced with ghastly modern monstrosities by rich people with no taste. They want to see whose Tower can reach the heavens so they can have an obstructed view of the lake. Honestly, I wish the state would come in and take back all the land because it's BS what they're doing. On a side note, we do have quite a large selection of mid-century modern homes that are preserved but unfortunately a big problem with 99.9% of them are they have flat roofs which means there's no place for the water to go. My grandfather owned a state of the art mid-century modern home which he had custom built in Park rapids, Minnesota on Island lake as part of fly-in housing community. He called it sky Manor aero estates.
It's almost as if whomever did the remodeling/renovation was colorblind..😮😱🤣🤣 Overall, nice old home.. Just a shame they rase these homes to the ground just to build McMansions or townhouses..

Yepp. Looks like that. The near-perfect condition of the original finish suggests that very accurate people lived in the house.
