- Today I am sowing Cosmos. These are the harbingers of summer for me. Easy to germinate and a tiny seed will grow an enormous plant with a root that is so tough you will wonder how you’re going to dig it out when winter comes! Cosmos self-seed freely so you will have free seedlings for years to come.

Some lovely varieties. Bonbon is absolutely gorgeous!! Never tried cosmos from seed. Getting very mixed results from the seeds I have sown especially the verbascum don't seem to want to germinate.....little buggars!!!
Thanks Betty. I've never tried Verbascum from seed - in fact my verbascum plants were eaten to within an inch of their lives last year by caterpillars so I may need to try sowing some if they don't come back (the plants! not the 🐛 - DO NOT want those again!) 😁
@@cottoverdi I chose them as an alternative to delphinium and lupins because apparently slugs leave them alone. I have bought some and planted them as back ups for my failing ones and so far so good, Haven't noticed any caterpillars thankfully 😆
