I’m stuck in a really wet and cool spring, zone 9b, my last frost march 1st but still have 3 days into the low 30s next week. Still have some cool flowers and my warm season flowers are getting way to big
I hear ya! My ranunculus are really ready to go out but I need to get my hoophouse up and the frost is just getting out of the ground. They will be fine tho!
When you say you can direct sew when the soil warms up, what temps ? My day temperature is 54-69 My night temp is 35-47 A bit Up and down. I am zone 8b Western Washington State. What flower seeds for my zone? I bought sunflowers Cosmo seeds because I have good luck just scattering without watering since we get rain on and off throughout the week. Also what seeds do well in crummy rocky soil? We put a fence up and the back side faces a corner neighborhood so I thought if I could do seeds it would be pretty.we have a back drive left side is shaded by a huge maple 🍁 tree and right side full sun. Any suggestions?
I don’t direct sow anything til my change of frost has past. If your soil isn’t the best, you can till it and then mid in garden soil - that will really help things out. You can get bagged garden soil at home improvement centers
Three years ago I planted Cosmos they grew like wild fire. The next year I planted some in the same area and they got tall then started dying. Last year I tried again in the same area and they ended up dying as well. I can’t figure out what’s going on with them. Everyone says that their easy but mine keep dying 😢🌷💚🙃

Rotation of different plants is important
