Renovation of the backyard has left Duke's pool in a state of neglect. Watch as Duke and Virginia rescue (some of) the little soon-to-be frogs and relocate them to a new home.
As a child I harvested tad poles and salamanders captured in a neglected pool in a McLean, VA backyard. I raised the tad poles to frogs and relased them into the same woods near the pool into a creek that fed the Potomac River. Did same with black with yellow polka dotted salamanders. Once had 35 box turtles found on paths after rain storms. Virginia, a boy's paradise. Now I live in the desert.
You're so great I'd spend my week or my weekdays doing this on a daily basis I have a little pool that I set up to tannin and like right now I just got all the frogs and the tadpoles out of it and overnight there's more tadpoles in it so it's a never-ending process
Believe it or not, we actually just got done filling in the pool... between the wildlife and the constant repairs (not to mention the maintenance), it became completely not worth having in New York for a 2-month swim season. I guess we will post a video about that project soon. :)
Heh! I actually have since then completely renovated the backyard... I filled the pool, built a huge in-ground fire pit, and built some multi-level decks... maybe one of these days I will get around to making some videos of those projects.
We probably have one thousand on our pool cover. We went on vacation and came back to this mess. At least they are on the cover ,it should be easier to scoop and relocate them. My sons will have a busy week.lol
Isabelle Martsen i dont have a pool but i have a driveway that goes down and forms a gap that allows water to fill it up like a mini pond and there are a shit ton of tadpoles in it and some are very very tiny and others are fat as hell
Tiny tadpoles become large tadpoles... and then they become frogs who like to return year after year. I love the frogs in my backyard... but not IN the pool! :)
future reference, spread them out in the river or wherever you put them since overpopulation in an area can cause damages or have a rep of none of them surviving. another tip put them in safe areas like brush or cattails. one more thing, make sure you put them in deeper water. It looks like you put them in a mud puddle since the water fast eroding all the mud from the bottom to the top causing a puddle effect that they can’t get out of or easy bait. it ain’t hate just tips.
so i have the same situation with tons of frogs in my pool... but have no idea how to get it back to swimming condition... how did you start the cleanup after all the tadpoles out?
Super late response, I know... After rescuing as many as we could (or were willing to spend the time doing), cleanup was a normal process. Super chlorinate the water with shock (kills the remaining tadpoles, algae, etc.), circulate a good floculant to drop everything to the pool floor, vacuum everything (to waste) from the bottom. Scrub walls and floor, repeat the chemicals and vacuuming.
All the ice melted in my cooler and we live by an river in our woods and The frog laid eggs in my cooler and I made a pond for them with the river water
Cool. I am in the middle of eliminating the pool... it is currently a hole in the dirt, filled up with ground water and rain... and the tadpoles are proliferating!!
I hate killing them, but when they end up in your pool in huge numbers there isn't much else you can do. Now that the pool reconstruction work is done, I am keeping up with the water maintenance and so no more tadpoles. :)
Maybe you should know how to spell "due diligence" if you plan on trying to make a point. But, your point is a good one. The area we moved the animals to already had a healthy local population of the same species, so I suspect we did not cause any real harm in this case. :)

Sounds a lot like my experience growing up in south NJ. :)
Just found anywhere between 500-1000 in ours. Started the process today of scooping them all out and relocating them. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the comment! We have since given up on the pool... maybe a video will come along on that decision and process soon. :)
Omg I thought I had tadpoles in my pool ...and they are mosquitoes- seen your vid and now I feel stupid 😂😂😂 hey I can laugh at myself!
Mosquitoes are easier to eliminate... but they are nasty buggers!
He was hittin it froggy style!
Style counts!

I noticed eggs and I scooped them up... I still found a couple of tads in my pool.
I would make my pool into a pond at this point . throw some minnow’s and African cichlids and some turtles and call it a wrap!😂

Hahahaa... we had the same problem this year on top of our cover. :)
What did your son say about his weeklong chore?
i have tiny tadpoles in my pool :D :D i am so excited!

I relocate right to the grass🐸
Ribbit!

Thank you for your intelligent insights. This is very much appreciated!

Nice!
I have tadpoles in my new pond I caught them mtself

i got tadpoles, time to clean pool... don't want to kill them because they must be toads (mosquitoes eaters)

Maybe u should know better than to reintroduce wildlife to places without doing your dodiligence

One day I had a past life regression about tadpoles. I was laughing my ass off.
I can only imagine what that must have been like!
As pewdiepie would say you pool is the freaking chamber
