  • The speed of sound in air is approximately 1200 km/h.
As the air temperature increases, the speed increases.
The expression "wall of sound" was used during the Second World War when airplanes approached the speed of sound as their speed increased.
The planes of the time at those speeds, both due to the effect of air resistance and vibrations, some of these planes were destroyed as if they had hit an invisible wall.
For this reason the term "overcoming the wall of sound" was coined.
The sound of the crack of the whip (here in Romagna it is a tradition to play it) breaks the sound barrier.
That pop is a real sonic boom because it moves faster than sound, more than 1200 km/h
The final part which portrays "Sciucaren" with the song "Atomica 62" by Secondo Casadei was kindly granted by Gianni Siroli
