2:11 I just love that serious look on Willy Wonka face!! It's like he knows exactly what he's gonna do to these children, how each kid will meet their fate, and you get a sense that the awkward and weird Willy Wonka is all just an act to fool his guests. Like we're not meeting the true Willy Wonka. And throughout the film, if you pay close attention, that serious expression will appear, giving you a feeling that he's testing them. I really like this Willy Wonka.
One thing that always stood out to me is how unlike the other three kids, Mike and Charlie don’t try to get Wonka’s attention, and yet, they’re the only two who Wonka showed any interest in.
Mike was the one who pretty much cheated and figured out Wonka's system, so it would make sense he'd know him and be interested in him. I imagine he's just dying to know how he figured it out! And Charlie was remarkable for his mediocrity, and how he was so lucky to get in. Not to mention he's the quiet kid, not making any fusses, very sweet… given what he's looking for, it's sure to catch his eye.
Can we just talk about his change in attitude when he went from Mike (and the other kids for that matter) to Charlie: (Looks at Mike) “You’re Mike Teavee 😈” (Turns to Charlie): “And you 😊”

Augustus wasn't around for long, but that scene was enough to help cement what a selfish and simply mean kid he could really be (In contrast to the older version, in which Augustus came across as an ok kid who just ate too much, but at least had good manners), better ensuring that we wouldn't exactly be feeling sorry for him when he goes up the pipe.
1971 Augustus was introduced eating a plate of food with a fork and knife. I cannot for the life of me imagine this Augustus ever using a fork and knife. It would be the most out of character thing he could possibly do.

I like how that part draws the competitive edge between these two. They are the only girls on the tour, they act like they want to be friends, but they are enemies since violet thinks it is a competition. Well if he's stuck in a boy like mentality, he probably doesn't want much to do with the female gender because of the whole "girls got cooties" joke young boys like to play with each other. Which would also explain why Wonka is going to this kind of length to get a successor for his business. He needs an "heir", but apparently the idea of finding a wife and making a kid didn't cross his mind because he's not into finding love. Instead of coming up with an elaborate plot to essentially kidnap a child from their family (as that was the ultimate goal for Wonka), he could of just gone to an orphanage and adopt a kid.
This movie has a deeper and more depressing meaning to it. Like how Wonka was abandoned and didn’t really have a childhood. Just eating chocolates all his life. Trying to find his favourite flavour, everything.

Willy Wonka never had a childhood which is sad for him but a great business man who still a kid at heart who became successful and made one friend beside the ompa lumpas
I like how they make all the kids into little egotistical jerks except for Charlie, in the 1971 version, Augustus and Mike weren't that bad of people, but in the 2005 version, they're pushy individuals with egos bigger than Wonka's whole factory. In the 1971 version, I can actually feel sorrow for their demises, good thing in the 2005 version they all deserve it.
In one version, I forgot which one, Charlie does something he isn't supposed to and they start floating. They learn that burping brings them back down. I dont like that version because it defeats the point of Charlie winning over the other kids.
Yeah, the first movie failed at that. The kids were too normal and likeable (specifically Augustus, Violet, and Mike). The kids in this movie are straight up gremlins, and more interesting and fleshed out at the same time. Makes their demises satisfying rather than bizarre. This movie as 4 nasty kids, the first one had only one nasty kid, and that was Veruca They also felt like a group of friends in an adventure in the first movie. In this one, they’re all enemies

Well if he's stuck in a boy like mentality, he probably doesn't want much to do with the female gender because of the whole "girls got cooties" joke young boys like to play with each other.
Which would also explain why Wonka is going to this kind of length to get a successor for his business. He needs an "heir", but apparently the idea of finding a wife and making a kid didn't cross his mind because he's not into finding love. Instead of coming up with an elaborate plot to essentially kidnap a child from their family (as that was the ultimate goal for Wonka), he could of just gone to an orphanage and adopt a kid.

I like how they make all the kids into little egotistical jerks except for Charlie, in the 1971 version, Augustus and Mike weren't that bad of people, but in the 2005 version, they're pushy individuals with egos bigger than Wonka's whole factory. In the 1971 version, I can actually feel sorrow for their demises, good thing in the 2005 version they all deserve it.
I know, right? That's one thing I really love about this movie.
In one version, I forgot which one, Charlie does something he isn't supposed to and they start floating. They learn that burping brings them back down. I dont like that version because it defeats the point of Charlie winning over the other kids.
Yeah, the first movie failed at that. The kids were too normal and likeable (specifically Augustus, Violet, and Mike). The kids in this movie are straight up gremlins, and more interesting and fleshed out at the same time. Makes their demises satisfying rather than bizarre. This movie as 4 nasty kids, the first one had only one nasty kid, and that was Veruca
They also felt like a group of friends in an adventure in the first movie. In this one, they’re all enemies
