I will never trust those. One 2x4, mattress, wheel, tire whatever on the road I always see hits that the right way and it either sheers off or opens. Sometimes you can't avoid those things and have to just pucker up and drive over them. This is not even the messy part, its the oil filter that gets oil all over. To me it just seems like a unnecessary risk. Also, salt, rust and road grime will F those up pretty quick.
I couldn't agree more. Whilst the chances of something like that happening or incredibly slim it's still far more likely than with a regular bolt. And the oil filter truly does completely nullify the entire point of this product. Unless you have some sort of oil filter relocation kit that makes it so you can drop the filters straight into a pan this weird drain bolt thing does basically nothing to prevent messes.
Wonderful gizmo. No more messes and no more issues doinig a "hot" drain. Attach a little hose into a suitable container and never spill a drop. My garage floor is smilling.
Everyone sad about their oil filter. I never have an issue taking mine off. Get it loose, grab it with a towel and remove it like a honey thing, keeping it spinning the whole time. Hole facing the sky and you should be good. I dont have the injector fan tho... So mebe.
@@firefox12702 you can cover the filter face with the wrag or towel you use too. But again, I dont have the injector fan in my 77 and the bolt from the pan is at a backward facing angle, not right below saying hello to everything that passes by.
Ooo I might get one for the Datsun. I found one that’s m16x1.5 threads, online it says the Datsun plug is m16.4x1.33 threads… that’s oddly specific, do you think the m16x1.5 would work on the Datsun?
If the thread pitch really is different definitely not. But I have also never heard of a 1.33 thread pitch so I highly doubt that's the actual spec. I'd check some other sites

I was thinking the same thing. You’ll never know it came loose until you’re listening to an atrocious sound up front

I appreciate that this is the shortest video on this product on CZcams.

I love these...I've put one on every S30 I've owned.
Well that's pretty neat. Didn't know something like this valve existed but it seems pretty helpful.
My oldest Z has one of these. I wonder about the gasket leaking in the future but right now it keeps the driveway clean
That's great and all but what about the filter? That's easily the messiest part imo.
1000% agreed. But at least you don't need a wrench.

@@migs7220 that works just fine until your oil filter is sideways. There's no way to turn the hole to the sky the whole time.
@@firefox12702 yeah, I just keep it spinning and the oil doesnt flow out. I dunno everyone has their own way. I also take my sweet time.

What tubing/Hose size did you use? 3/8 or 1/2 inch?
