    I took the suspension off, brakes and put them on my 2.5 estate. Now it handles and stops unbelievably well. I have the front bumper and wheels for future use on mine too.

      I have a Spec B Twinscroll, which is the best of the bunch I feel. It has 280bhp and all the toys. Imported, but well maintained, has specific boot tray with SUBARU written on it for my dogs, specific SUBARU dog guard, etc, etc. All these things that the likes of BMW, Audi, etc, etc simply do not offer anywhere. The car has the air intake on the bonnet too. Looks the dogs, are quite rare, have technology on them that many cars today I feel lack and the list is endless.
      I will though have a grinding noise that I think is a spring in the front right checked out again though. It was repaired, but come back again. Not sure what it is yet.

    • @xt6wagon
      @xt6wagon Před 8 lety +15

      Gambit Subaru Most accurately, The WRX/STi used a updated legacy chassis at its refresh. When that era of legacy was launched it was quite a bit better than the WRX platform. Less weight on the nose, rear suspension that works, and stiffer. The US Legacy GT with 250hp 2.5L was faster on a race track out of the box than the 300hp 2.5L STi of the same year. Thats before you do sticky tires and stiff suspension.

    • @gambitsubaru7001
      @gambitsubaru7001  Před 8 lety +7

      xt6wagon I'm not trying to be rude mate. But the whole chassis thing is getting pretty dull for me. I like all subaru's even if the Impreza is my main choice I'd happily own a Forester STI or a Legacy Twin turbo. I've had a few. But in all honesty I don't work for subaru I don't declare I know the full chassis or mechanics of Subaru and the cross between models. I never have nor will I. I just know what he says on the video. As I said before feel free to let Fifth gear know by all means. I am a subaru fan but I like many other cars too, and the legacy in the video I know the owner and the car. So was only posted for entertainment value really.

      TheOriginalBRad the Impreza never 'shares' the platform with the legacy - usually, imprezas use a modified version of a past legacy, so at any one point an impreza will not have the same chassis as the (at the time) current legacy.

    The legacy actually has one other thing that goes wrong with them. It’s probably the most expensive part.. Head gaskets. Once you cook a h6 engine it can lead to head leaks. The second most expensive is the bilstein suspension. They’re a monotube inverted design which they’re great fun to drive on, they typically leak in the rear. A way to check is to look underneath for oil around the bottom hats and go over speed humps to see if it’s too bouncy or knocking.

    • @railfanatic1416
      @railfanatic1416 Před 4 lety +1

      I thought the H6 was much less prone to head gasket failure than the EJs. The head gasket on my EJ251 from 2000 is starting to bite the dust

    • @Y10Q
      @Y10Q Před 4 lety +1

      H6 head gaskets don't go until you are well into 200k mile range just like the old EJ22 would do. Turbo EJ25 is the same; But naturally aspirated EJ25 head gaskets blow every 100k miles. Which granted is bad but it isn't horrible. It takes 5-10 years to drive 100k miles and that is probably going to be the only repair with these cars as they are otherwise very reliable.

    • @HOTPLATEGAMING
