  • Acrylic Pour Painting on 24x24 Canvas, Fantasy Ring Pour Technique in Contrasting Payne's Gray, Pearl, Deep Turquoise and Gold!
    Hello Friends!
    Today Im Color Testing more Golden's Paints; Deep Turquoise, Permanent Violet Deep and the Iridescent Gold and Iridescent Pearl. I love the way these paints have behaved so far.
    I really wanted to stretch out a ring pour to see how the colors hold the rings and how they blend. I used colors that had a lot of contrast, to see how they react and move together.
    My Colors are::
    Golden's
    ~ Deep Turquoise
    ~Paynes Gray
    ~Permanent Violet Deep
    ~Iridescent Pearl
    ~Iridescent Gold Deep Fine
    My Pouring Medium is
    Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish
    Water
    Floetrol
    I love how this piece stretched and moved and opened up beautifully.. it reminds me of deep warm water in Maui, a place I love.
    Since I kept my paint fairly thick, the rings kept their shape even though I stretched this out a lot.
    When I brought it back into my drying shed I looked at it more closely and decided that I needed to change the composition a bit. I poured what was left in my cup into the center and tilted off one corner. I stretched it out even more then, and some beautiful cells started showing up. I did not get the little pearl cells from this gold paint.
    I hope you enjoyed this one, please let me know what you think in the comments!

    Almost two years later I tried my very first Ring Pour! Using These colours and I have to say, thank you for your guidance, and especially your measurements ( width x Length / 28 ) helped a lot! Less mess, and for once I wasnt covered in paint! Yours is beautiful.

    Have you ever had a canvas fly out of your hands? Sometimes the wind is a factor out there. It really nice to be able to work outside....even if they have been building next door. Your big pour cup is nice.This canvas is small for you! I love gold with any coloriSt makes everything look great!You started me using the Paynes grey now I like it. It's not as harsh as black or even Prussian blue.It's a good tip to use a color you really don't care about to use to help the paint move. I watch these several times because I pick up more.
    Thanks for yours and your husband's efforts to make these videos. You are appreciated!!

    I like that you're painting outside. I'm a huge outdoor fan and during the summer I think the only time I go inside is for the necessities. Only drawback, BUGS.
    Bugs love my paintings.

      Hi Debbie! Sounds like your mix might be too thin, thats why its blending so much. Try a thicker mix for ring pours, you can even try adding a bit of glue to thicken it up. Good luck!

    • @MinaVillegasArt
      @MinaVillegasArt  Před 5 lety +2

      You are in luck, I do have Quinacridone Crimson and Quinacridone Violet! lol
      What colors would you use with the Crimson?
      You can always add a bit of black or white to a transparent color to increase opacity, and I think Golden actually makes a product that increases opacity. You can also combine transparent colors with opaque colors in your cup, it gives a very nice look. Too many transparent colors together may not be a great idea, especially if your mix is thin. Try mixing the transparent ones a tiny bit thicker

    • @biner59
      @biner59 Před 5 lety

      Oh I love Quinn. Violet. I've mixed that with an opaque deep red an a little black to make a burgundy. Haven't used quin. Crimson in a pour but love it with nickel Azo gold and phthalocyanine turquoise as primaries when brush painting.

    Watching you create art in the sunshine is a shot of happiness in my day! I see that you use pouring medium, gave 800 and floetrol with your paint and I’m wondering about the proportions. I think if I mix my paint like you do maybe I can also create something beautiful.

    • @MinaVillegasArt
      @MinaVillegasArt  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you so much 🥰
      I usually use Liquitex Gloss Medium &Varnish, paint and Floetrol. I did use the GAC800 in my paint for this pour, but it wasn't really necessary as I wasn't repouring on a previously used canvas. I added it in there because I had been thinking about repouring on an older canvas but changed my mind and went with the 24x24 square instead, but the GAC800 was already in the paint.
      My usual recipe is 30 grams of pouring medium (about 1 ounce) and 15 grams of paint, then about 30 grams of Floetrol. You can double it or triple it but try to stay in a 2:1 ratio or 3:1 ratio.
      Good luck to you 🥰
