Great bit of foreshadowing too at the beginning with King Viserys dragon dream about placing his heir on the throne and the dragon all roar at the same time 🔥To say I'm excited for this series is an understatement. Im suprised we didnt get a look at Aegon Aegon 2nd in this trailer and MUSHROOM.We MUST have Mushrrom.just to hear his debaucherous tales🤷♂️😂

It's admittedly been a really long time since I've watched one of your game of thrones videos, but you're voice instantly brought me back to how fun you're speculation videos were before GOT was over ❤️
i hate my voice in this one. i had such trouble recording it. my brain was working, so i kept using the wrong intonations. on top of that, i had excessive mouth breathing and lip smacking. and im not sure why. maybe because its so friggen hot or something!??
but, long story short, i had to constantly rerecord lines and patch together half lines. and the result is a very slow and very patchy recording unfortunately. but eventually, i had to just go with it and get to the video editing portion
so apologies in advance if this one was unbearably slow and spoken oddly. yesterday morning was a pain in the butt lol

I'm so ready for this series! More Targaryens, more dragons, more Westeros. We finally get to see House Velaryon & their home of Driftmark. Dragonstone looks much more eerie and gloomy, because it is an active volcanic island afterall. The Throne looks awesome with more swords. I hope we also get to see Storms End, maybe Summerhall and perhaps a better view of the Hightower. What else are you guys looking forward too the most? I think the biggest thing i can't wait to see is Princess Rhaenys & her dragon Meleys battling Prince Aemond on Vhagar and Prince Aegon on Sunfyre above Rooks Rest! If they dont include that in the show, i'll be so sad.
Rhaenys vs. Aegon & Aemond won't be in season one.

I want more scenes in the Hightower. After all it's supposed to be so tall and massive that many members of the house spend their entire lives in it without setting foot on the ground.

Another great vid Kev, I love how you end your vids with a deep question, a profound statement, a sentence that sums up the entire vid etc. Most other channels aren’t as deep a thinker as you and finish their vids with cliche CZcams stuff, subscribe, share, like etc. , great reviewers but you make connections and see things many do not, and leave us deeper into the greater mysteries with those final lines.

have you read the material it comes from? its a pretty fun read or audiobook listen. and you have a couple options
Season 1 is mainly from a novella called "the rogue prince," which is adapted into a chapter called "heirs of the dragon" in fire and blood. The Rogue princes audiobook is narrated by Ian Glenn (ser jorah mormont), so thats cool. but that novella missed out on a few paragraphs from Fire and Blood. so now its best to go that route
same thing with "the princess and the queen, the blacks and the greens." that novella was narrated by Gwendoline Christie, which was a nice surprise. but "Fire and Blood" takes that novella and expands on it a little bit. so its almost pointless to read or listen to those novellas nowadays unfortunately
but yeah. Mr Vad3r. if you're even bored, Fire and Blood is a pretty fun read/listen
@@bridge4 Never read those novellas but read Fire and Blood but it just seem to be straight up historical records so in some way I'm intrigued how they'll dramatize a portion of it.
But what really stuck with me were the worms with faces.
Watching this 4 weeks after your video aka the premiere of house of the dragon and you are so spot on in how you explained this first episode in foreshadowing of your knowledge. Bravo! Also it helped me understand that pilot more and the path of the show!!

same here. i am beyond excited ever since they dropped the full "official trailer" ... it was so awesome. and the "now they see you for who you are" type line in the second to last scene of it was the icing. because she said it with loathing ... but also with tears running down her face

Yeah they are making Alicent more likable, I just hope it doesn’t have the Catelyn effect. One of Thrones largest betrayals that started too early was making all mains more likable & betraying the story in the end! Team Black! 🖤🔥♥️

It sounds like the Targaryens practice a form of Salic law. This is the idea that the hereditary lands can't be inherited through the female line. Rules like these are always enforced or set aide for ad hoc reasons--whichever is best for the family. It wasn't necessarily "patriarchal." The story of the House of the Dragon does bear some resemblance to the story of Henry I wishing to bequeath the crown to his daughter, Matilda--which was opposed. The intermarrying, incest angle bears a strong resemblance to the Habsburg family. I have no doubt that Martin drew from these real world exemplars.
Yes, and one can understand why his grandfather did not choose his cousin as an heir in light of the fact that most of the noble houses in Westeros are ruled by males.

I appreciate the feedback. Though I'm not sure what difference it makes if the other Westeros lords were male or not. It sounds like Martin composed this worldbuilding with "the patriarchy" baked into it.

6:35 I love this, it is a great example of George "human heart I'n conflict agianst it self" despite being a great king Viseris faltered on this single issue of the succession cause of his brother and seppoust heir drunken outburst agianst his dead son.

@@doxasophosmoros A casual viewer is someone who can’t tell the difference between a Targaryen or Velaryon, because they have no clue what Valyria is, who will be confused why a Targaryen character doesn’t have white hair even though that’s the main trait they associate them with. They’ll need an explanation, and taking time to spell out Rhaenys’ Baratheon mother isn’t really relevant to the story and isn’t worth wasting screen time on.

I reckon the first series will cover the longest period of time, decades of history, whereas the rest of the series will be far more compact, following the course of the Dance and its aftermath

dude. when i first watched the trailer, i didnt have audio. i was just grabbing it to make a video when it first dropped. and even without putting on my ehadphones yet, i got more excited than id ever been for this show
then i watched it with audio and the complexity to the second to last clip (Rhaenyra being both angry AND sad) took my to an entirely new level of pumped
i went on to record a 61 minute video i was so pumped. it was nonsense tho. i tried again. 43 minutes. then two more over 30 minutes. then a bunch of times i just gave up after like 6-10 because i was speaking nonsense
but yeah mean. the day this dropped, i was on cloud 9!!

This show is going to be awesome. Multiple dragon riders and all the cutthroat / backstabbing politics that George RR is known for in his writing. I feel bad for Amazon cause this show is going destroy Rings of Power in the ratings. I love Lord Of The Rings but Amazon has its work cut out for it going against HBO and this IP. Either way it’s going to an awesome late summer into fall. So many cool fantasy shows dropping. Even Disney plus is in the game with the Willow series. 👍

Harrenhall is such a creepy place! Yet despite being in ruins, GRRM keeps returning to this place, time and time again. As book readers we probably know why given its proximity to the Isle of Faces.
I am slowly starting to look forward to this show as it looks like we will see Stepstones in the first season. I still won't be subscribing to Murdoch's grift in Australia to access HBO content.
Everyone should check out "Upright" to see just how good Milly Alcock, a complete unknown, was as a young teenager. She owns that mini Australian series where Tim Minchin was meant to be the star.
I have done that road trip but in reverse order from Perth to Melbourne. Mildura, Victoria is not on the route but the scenery of endless fields of hay bales is real. My daughter studied metallurgy and mining engineering in Kalgoorlie, which as pointed out in the first episode is some considerable distance from Perth.
Yeah, didn't Harrenhall even had its own Countess of Bathory? It's a pretty cursed place and the theory ranges from it just ironborn messing inhabitants up, to dragonfire cause radioactivity on the stone.

i think this show is going to take alot of inspiration from the last kingdom in how it's story progresses as in multiple months/years can go by in the same season. the last kingdom has something like 15 years go by before season 3.
i think one of GOT's biggest problems was that it tried to keep the story as tight as possible and it could have massively benefited from some time skips.
Yeah I don't know, GOT was so much better when the story was tight.
The failure of season 8 was in large part due to the big time skips,among many other things.

when i saw the trailer minutes after it dropped, i immediately recorded a live take on the trailer because i had never been as excited as i was then. it was a 61 minute rambling video tho, so i tried again. 43 min video. then 2 more over 30 minutes
all of a sudden, it was 8pm, and i literally hadnt even had breakfast. so i was wtf. UGH. i tried a few more times to record something under 20, and i just couldnt speak anymore. i gave up
the next morning, i decided to just write this script and record this instead lol. and took me all day yesterday and today to do the video editing

will we see a time where theres a few years of winter, we never saw this in the original show, but seasons are supoused to be very random
yup. fun fact: Baelon (Viserys and Daemon's father) was nicknamed the Spring Prince since he was born two days after the Citadal sent out ravens declaring the arrival of Spring in 57 AC
there were a few Winters between then and House of the Dragon, and a winter should begin during the "Dance" portion of House of the Dragon
- House of the Dragon will probably cover around 30 years from 101 AC - 131 AC
- the "Dance" portion of House of the Dragon will take place from 129 AC - 131 AC
so not Season 1. but if this story takes place over 4 seasons, then we should see a winter begin in Season 3 or 4

I wonder if they gonna take the GoT route of going forward from the start point or they will do a lot of flashback because they begin right in the middle of the conflict. I saw that there’s 2 Rhaenyra, then Rhaenyra already got sons, I saw Alicent whispering to Aegon but there’s no visual on her children. I saw Jaehaerys and there’s pregnant Aema Arryn. I really wonder where they going to start the show, at what point.

Fun Fact Jaehaerys would at times mistake Alicent Hightower for one of his daughters that he banished. There's a theory that Alicent herself was actually a bastard born daughter of Jaehaery's exiled daughter and a Hightower when she left Westeros
Also, not so fun fact: Jaehaerys had 13 children. Only two of them, Saera (the daughter he banished) and Vaegon (a maester at the Citadel), outlived him.
That's a bad theory.
Everyone would have known though. Like, what do the Hightowers get from lying about Alicent's origins.
I’m alittle confused. I watched a dance of dragons video with the GOT voice actors, where the line of succession was between Rhaenyra and Aegon II. Is this one between Rhaenyra and Daemon? Or am I just thinking alittle ahead. Just alittle confused here
Aegon II vs rhaenyra is probably in season 2. Aegon II is pretty young and they gotta lay down all the details that lead up to the dance
