    Since banks are federally regulated, she needs to immediately file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission.

    Chase has someone on the inside who's perpetrating this crime. I had a fake check that fortunately looked dissimilar to our actual checks nearly get through, but Chase caught it based on the different look of the check compared to our actual checks and sent me an email so I was able to stop it. The amount was similar to another check and the check number was within the scheme of my check run. The inside scammers have realized that their fake check needs to be nearly identical to the actual check so the Chase fraud software lets it through the system.

    Used to be you could just cancel the check. They do make copies of it so get it and see who cashed it. I never rely on banks, I tracked down a guy who cashed a $500.00 check this way as soon as I mentioned the cops he payed it back.

    Low level management always ducks it up. You have to make enough noise to get the attention of folks that care about the reputation of their company.

    Make sure the crime goes viral and *prominently* specify the bank's name. Mention attorneys. You'll get your money back.

    If there's a paper trail, you can track it. Give it to a 15yr old. They'll figure it out in a heart bit!

    • @lmcc0072
      @lmcc0072 Před měsícem

      If the banks did their jobs properly, yes there should be a paper trail for fraudulent checks and even for wire transfers. Banks should know who their customers are “Know Your Customer” (KYC) and not allow fraudulent accounts to be opened to accept stolen funds. If they did this, stolen funds could easily be recovered. Even wire transfers can be recalled. Banks that allow funds to be stolen and banks that allow fraudulent accounts to be opened to accept stolen funds should be held financially liable. That would pretty much put an end to these types of scams.

  • @lmcc0072
    @lmcc0072 Před měsícem

    I rarely write checks anymore. If a scammer gets ahold of one they have your account number, your signature, your address, your phone number, your check number sequence, and what your checks look like. With laser printer technology checks are easy to duplicate. Banks are also sloppy. They’re supposed to have a policy of “Know Your Customer” (KYC). This means that they verify who is opening accounts with them with proper IDs. That way, if they deposit or cash a fraudulent check, police know exactly who they are. Banks don’t seem to be doing this.
