  • Hi folks, I’m sharing another EDC fixed blade knife. This is the Bark River Ultra-Lite Bushcrafter. The specs and details are listed below. Enjoy.
Bark River Ultra-lite Bushcrafter - Maroon Linen Micarta with Mosaic Pins and White Liners
    Specs
Overall Length: 7.4 inches or 18.8 cm
Blade Length: 3.25 inches or 8.2 cm
    Blade Steel: CPM3V @58-60RC
Blade Thickness: .090 inches or 2.3 mm
    Grind: Convex-Scandi
Weight: 2.7 ounces or 76 grams
    Sheath: Leather
This knife is incredibly lightweight and comfortable for its size. It is also practical and functional.
I prefer the leather sheath that came with my Bark River Trailmate (Woodland Sheath). It complements this knife well.

I've recently ordered one. Love 'em. I'm also interested in a mini Aurora -- they're about a half inch longer, which I think might be better for actual woods use.

This is one of my all time favourite fix blade knives. However, mine came with a totally different leather sheath. It is a lot more compact.

I have this model for a little while now and I must say I like it very much! IMO for edc just a bit too large but very handy and suitable for the most normal tasks - so for ecd I have purchased the "Mini Bushcrafter". And perhaps I would like the "Ultra Lite Bushcrafter" better if Bark River would have named it "Little Bushcrafter" and put on a slightly thicker blade, e.g. 2,7 or 3 mm. I am not afraid to bend or break it but I think it would be more comfortable. The handle is very nice and stable in my hand. So all in all: good job, Bark River.
What do you think as comparison to the Bravo EDC?
Your model with maroon linen micarta and white liners is amazing!

Hi, the Bravo EDC is heavier and thicker than the Ultra Lite Bushcrafter, but it is not 3V. At this time, it only comes in A2 and Elmax. I prefer the UL Bushcrafter over the Bravo EDC because it is practical and adequate for most everyday tasks. The Bravo Necker II is heavier and thicker. It is more heavy duty than the Ultra Lite Bushcrafter. The Necker II is a tough EDC knife, especially the 3V version.
The original Bravo Necker is smaller, but more robust than the Ultra Lite Bushcrafter. The Necker is compact with a stubby/stout blade. The Featherweight Fox River is another deluxe EDC knife. It is thin, lightweight and comparable to the Ultra Lite Bushcrafter.
The Mini Aurora is another super nice EDC fixed blade. It is a tad big, but it has great ergonomics, a very useful point and will certainly hold its own with any of the above knives. The Mini Aurora can serve as a handy trail companion or small camp knife. Respectfully

Thank you! Indeed the Mini Aurora seems to be an interesting knife! Kind of full-grown size but the shape looks like all purpose. I will have a closer look at this and the Necker 2 (esp. your video about it :) - nice comparison ).

Hi, can you tell me what do you think about this knife from the hunters perspective? Have you already used it for hunting duties? Can it handle small or medium size game? Thanx

Hi, I have not used the Ultra-lite Bushcrafter for hunting. I think it can handle small animals and light skinning chores, but I would not classify it as a dedicated hunting knife. It is more a small bushcraft knife, designed for medium to light tasks and may appeal to those looking for an ultra-light option in the field. It has a scandi-vex grind and only weighs 76 grams. How do you compare it to the Bravo EDC and the featherweight fox river? Thanks!

Hi, all three are high quality fixed blades… I would say that the Bravo EDC offers a more traditional profile. The style of the blade is very much in-line with the Bravo series. It is also the most heavy duty of the three knives, but
the handle only offers moderate comfort to me. The Featherweight Fox River is lighter and a better slicer than the EDC, and the handle is more comfortable IMO, but if I only had to choose one for myself, it would probably be an UL Bushcrater with a full-height grind. For me, the fit, finish and ergonomics of the handle are superb. It also slices more efficiently with a full-height grind and I prefer 3V. Respectfully
