    My cat is really close to me. So when I got covid symptoms, tested positive, and quarantined from my parents, who have yet to exhibit any symptoms, I kept the cat in my room with me. My last day of quarantine is Saturday. While in quarantine my cat has been on my bed with me so I’m trying to figure out if it is safe to reintroduce my cat back into the household with my parents.

      There is no evidence of cats transmitting covid-19 to humans. Only humans transmitting to cats as of now

      @@blockusernow Hi, Rachel! Hope you get through your symptoms okay! My cat got through it pretty great. He’s was eight months when it happened. Only signs I saw that he had was he sneezed every so often. Other than that I think he slept a normal amount. And recovered completely.

    That Tuxedo 🐈 is so sweet. I 💕 that type of feline, because it's my favorite feline breed. We didn't know that 🐈s can get COVID-19 just like people. You're so smart, Dr. Lera. 🤣 What causes 🐈s to get fleas?

    • @DrLera
      @DrLera  Před 3 lety

      Cats are typically will get fleas from other cats, dogs, raccoons, and opossums to name a few of the ways. If they have been someone's house where they have pets it is possible to have gotten fleas there.

    Hi. Here in Australia there has been a few dogs that have caught it. I would love to find out more as i have a service dog who is so well looked after as i have him for my panic attacks and he has the best of everything but i would not cope if something happened to him so i would love to know about dogs at all please if you find out anything. Thank you for your time again.

    Another great video! Is there any information yet about the possibility of transmitting it to birds? My wife and I also have a bird that we're concerned about, in addition to our dog and cat.

    I have a 9.5 month old kitten. I had Covid back in April 2021 mild case before I got her. If I am to get the Omicron variant does that mean she will get it? I’m also vaxxed. Do cats usually have mild cases of Covid do we know? This scares me so bad..

    • @DrLera
      @DrLera  Před 2 lety +1

      There is a possibility that she could get the omicron variant. We don't have any data that I'm aware of on whether or not cats show mild or moderate or severe symptoms from omicron

    My mom got Covid-19...she has been pretty sick, but she is getting better. I too have had symptoms, but they are not that bad. I had to start staying at my mom's house to help take care of her while she is recovering. My cat is here with me. He is having really bad Diarrhoea and he is sleeping a lot. He has been sleeping way more then normal. He has been crying tonight, like he doesn't feel good...this happened after he went #2 about 4 times in 15 minutes. I don't have very much money because I lost both of my jobs due to Covid-19. I am trying to figure out what to do. Can you please help with some advice? I am going to make a appointment at the vet, but I'm not if I will be able to pay for the entire bill. I live in Sugarland Tx, but I am currently staying in Houston TX while I help my mom. Pleass help, I am a little worried. He really doesn't seem well.😷🤧🐈‍⬛😪😪🤧

    Is covid19 dangerous in cats?

    • @DrLera
      @DrLera  Před 4 lety +4

      It can potentially be. Studies have shown that cats are by far more prone to developing actual symptoms compared to dogs. That being said, if your cat starts to show any symptoms then make sure you let your vet know. The main issue with the symptoms is that they're very similar to other upper respiratory illnesses which are common in cats (ie: herpes).
