- Hi all! Todays video is a desk tour and I'm sharing how I store all of my art supplies! I go into detail about my materials, and where and how I store them in a way that works really well for me. My space is super functional but I also think it looks really good too, so I hope you enjoy seeing it! Enjoyed the tour - all the colorful pencils and pens stored in pretty mugs (pots, I guess?) I especially loved the one with all the little birds on it. 🐦
Thank you so much! Yes lots of mugs and pots! The bird one is a favourite of mine too - I was keeping it to use for actual drinks but sadly I dropped it and the handle broke off! So I glued it back on and now it's safer here on my desk 🥰
I'm glad I'm not the only one with a giant box of washi tapes! Thanks for sharing your space-- my husband and I are moving this week, and I get to separate out my "work office" from my "art office" for the first time in the new house, so this video came at the perfect time to inspire me. :)
Hehe definitely not the only one! I tried to cull mine down but I love them all 😂 Ooh that's so exciting!! Have fun organising and setting up your new spaces! 🧡

I'll hopefully be in my new flat soon so I'll have my own studio again and I can't wait to get it looking as nice as your space! Although I seem to have a lot more stuff than you as I hoard bits of paper and packaging etc.
Ooh that's so exciting Gillian, fingers are crossed for you! Haha I have boxes full of paper and packaging don't worry - thankfully it's hidden in boxes in the cupboard at the other end of the room! 😂

Love a studio tour! I have a sad looking prayer plant too, lol. It was doing the best when it was in the darkest corner of the room, actually - I don't think they like too much light! Maybe try moving it away from the window?

Haha it's a constant battle at the end of the day to get it back to looking like this 🤣
Prayer plants are so difficult! You know about their love for humidity and you can easily create a humid little micro climate around it by getting a bow/dish/deep plate/tray (doesn't need to be any larger than the diameter of the bottom of the pot itself), filling it with pebbles/marbles/etc, adding water so it does not go above the rocks and having the plant pot sit on top, making sure it isn't sitting in the actual water. Then you just top off the water in the tray when you water it. The prayer plant should love it and, worst case scenario, if it still doesn't look great then you know that the issue isn't the humidity.
If the leaf tips become brown or crispy it probably needs more water, these plants originate in hot and humid rainforests on the forest floor where it rains everyday and the soil is usually moist. It will do best in those types of conditions: warm, humid, lower light, with consistently moist and rich soil.

I love to see how artists organise their studios! 😍 I am always changing my little corner, but it's getting closer to what i want 😊 can i ask why you place the pencils upside-down? Is to see the colour easily?
Thank you so much Teresa 😊 I think an art space should be constantly changing anyway - as we buy new supplies or as we work out our best process! Yes that's right, most of my pencils have a colour swatch on the end and I find it easier to see what I want to grab compared to just seeing the leads 😊💛
Hello, really enjoy your videos! Where did you get your white shelf on the desktop from? I am having a hard time finding something similar that has enough height underneath to store a stack of sketchbooks like you have done.
Thank you so much! I bought the bits from Ikea - it's a plain white shelf and then four little legs (also from Ikea, they're called 'Capita' stainless steel legs!) screwed on the bottom! It's so perfect just for that extra bit of storage underneath 😊

Love how you have organised your studio Katie! The pencil jars are so pleasing 👌🏻 😂 are the drawers the Alex drawers from IKEA? I’m after some and they look similar 🤔 also was curious to know where you got the mini guillotine? I have a trimmer/folder but don’t find it very functional so was after something a bit more heavy duty 😅 thanks! As for suggestions my only one would be perhaps get an upturned box lid to keep all the inks ‘contained’🙈 but I love it regardless!
Thank you, Han! I love the look of the pencil jars so much 😄 They are from Ikea! I got them second-hand and managed to save a bunch of money - I often see them on Facebook Marketplace but they've been amazing for storage! I have no idea where the mini guillotine is from, so sorry! It was a gift and has no branding on it at all 😣 Ooh great suggestion for the inks, thank you! I think it'll be handy to be able to lift them all out in one go!
I thought the drawers looked familiar! Super that you got them on Marketplace too 👌🏻 no problem with the guillotine, I’m sure I’ll find something similar 😌 thanks for getting back to me, and yes I like storing bits in upturned box lids as they’re not as deep as boxes but have a similar effect 😅
I have the same plant and it looks a lot worse than yours 😅. All the leaves died off and it keeps trying to grow new ones but failing. We have really low humidity here though so that doesn't help.
Mixed media artists definitely have a lot of art supplies 😂.
Hahaha well this has made me feel better about it, thanks Emma! Mine's the same, it keeps looking like its growing new leaves but they die off. A lot of people have said it needs less light so I've moved mine to another room now! Haha there's me thinking my stash is quite minimal compared to some 😆
I think your prayer plant is getting a little too much sun. I had to take mine out of the window and it started doing so much better.
also, they love humidity - mine is in the kitchen near my kettle and it's loving life
