A lot of these Caribbean foods have a lot of similarities to indian cuisines. Probably bcz of the indian workers who came and settled there in early 18th and 19th century
@@parisz - Africa is the motherland of the planet and humans. So, a lot of Asian, Indian, Caribbean dishes derive from Africa. I was born and partly raised in St. Croix (Caribbeans) and ate Roti. My mother used to make roti and added curry chicken and potatoes into the roti and fold it. The last time I've had her version of that was when I was a child in St. Croix. I miss eating roti, regardless.

We have a huge Indian diaspora in Trinidad thanks to our history of colonialism, indentureship and slavery. Large amounts of Inidians migrated to Trinidad as indentured labourers. That's why there would be a lot of similarities to Indians from India. A lot of us basically descended from yall, the motherland.

I'm from Trinidad. Roti all the way. So many different types of roti: sada, buss up shot, paratha,dhalpuri. Whichever way you have it, it's still good.

Scotch bonnet peppers are used in Caribbean Cooking along with scorpion peeper are hotter than standard chilies in Madras cooking ....so no I think they made a mistake.
I have been consuming Roti on a daily basis, since it's one of the regional food of North Eastern India. Also,Roti pairs well with Fried Chicken, Chicken Curry and Fried Vegetables( which we call "sabzi" ). Different types of Roti can be made by doing a few alternations. The one mentioned in the video is a normal Roti which is oiled. P.S:- In India, while You are Frying Vegetables or making a "Sabzi", that "Sabzi's "name is based on the type of veggies you are focusing more on. Suppose a Veggie Dish has majority of Potatoes in it and all other veggies such as tomatoes,green peas,green beans, etc in lesser amount, then the dish is called "Aloo ki Sabzi" Or "Fried Dish Of Potatoes".

Karthik Mudaliar well Caribbean Indian yes. As you know we are descendants of Indian Indentured Labourers brought in by the British to work on the plantations in the 1800’s. Trinidad & Guyana has the highest percentages with a million Indians combined

I'm glad that Trinidad got recognition but: 1. Traditionally, most Trinidadians DO NOT make curry like that and the BUSS UP SHUT didn't get BUSS UP, so when she said that alot of us would say that she's doing it wrong, she was right as the recipes shown have become so Americanized as we don't use chicken broth, we burn the curry more, etc. 2. For those of you who are questioning why a black girl is making roti or saying that it should be made by an Indian, please do your research as Trinidad and Tobago is a multicultural, multiethnic country. Just look up our history and you'll see why a black girl can make it.

As she said we all have our variations. I use 110% more spices in all of my curry recipes and a whole hot pepper in the pot to give it some heat.

1. Traditionally, most Trinidadians DO NOT make curry like that and the BUSS UP SHUT didn't get BUSS UP, so when she said that alot of us would say that she's doing it wrong, she was right as the recipes shown have become so Americanized as we don't use chicken broth, we burn the curry more, etc.
2. For those of you who are questioning why a black girl is making roti or saying that it should be made by an Indian, please do your research as Trinidad and Tobago is a multicultural, multiethnic country. Just look up our history and you'll see why a black girl can make it.

Not trying to throw shade but roti and curry was brought to the west Indies by Indian people. This is not how traditional west Indian curry and roti is made. Just saying. Still looks yummy tho.
