NEW LUMAFUSION 3.0
• Video stabilization. The award-winning Lock & Load video stabilization technology from CoreMelt is fully integrated in the new Stabilizer tool in the clip editor.
• External drive editing. Media is now accessed directly from external drives in the Files library source on iPads with USB-C and Thunderbolt ports. This feature can be turned off in Preferences, so that files continue to be copied into LumaFusion when external drives are used.
• Direct external drive export. Export directly to an external drive without LumaFusion writing to internal storage using the Files destination. Available on USB-C and Thunderbolt iPads.
• Graphic Equalizer. With the beautiful new graphic audio EQ, it's easy to tune audio in your projects.
• Third-party audio units. Add and organize AUv3 plugins in the Audio Tool. LumaFusion supports editing parameters both in our control stack and in third-party custom UI.
• Numeric keypad for sliders and rotation controls. Tap on the pencil button to use the new numeric entry to input exact values. The nudge buttons have been moved to the numeric keypad.
• Resizable UI. Drag the handle to adjust the Preview, Library, and Timeline to get exactly the workspace you want in each layout.
FIXED ISSUES
• Keywords are not appearing in CZcams after upload.
• Dozens of issues have been fixed.
IMPROVEMENTS
• Press-and-hold on insert button (or use keyboard equivalents) to insert-to-main, overwrite-to-main, and place-on-secondary tracks.
• Selection in Library and Timeline are now separate. Library selection shows selected items with white border, currently previewed item with yellow border.
• Improved user interface styling
• Quicker response when searching Storyblocks
• Import/export sources have been simplified. Use 'iOS Share and AirDrop' for most iOS destinations (Files app, iCloud Drive, other app, AirDrop). Use the Files destination to write directly to external drives.
• FCPXML export adds markers to indicate unsupported features.
• Improved stability and performance.

There is no iPad Pro 2019
Seems a no-brainer. For half the price, I can get a model that's just a few years older and a few seconds slower only if using an insane amount of clips. Bought the 3rd generation of 12.9" ipad pro earlier today and your video just confirmed its value. Thank you.

I bought the M1 mini and M1 MacBook air. They are a massive improvement over the intels. I was expecting the M1 iPad to me super fast then I realized the 2020 iPad Pro I have and the 2021 iPad Pro have one thing in common, they both have Apple chips so I can’t really except them to be much different. Regards the scrubbing experience on the travel edit 2018 Vs M1... I would take it just to mean the M1 is not yet so optimised in Luma yet.

The video I was totally looking for. This makes sense, just what I needed for that boost for the decision between 2018 and 2021 IPAD PRO. But one question still bothers me, with that heavy layout of video - does 128Gb enough or would I go for the 256Gb memory? or having an SSD enough for me to go for 128Gb?

If you dont use ur ipad to store files 128gb is enough, u can edit directly from an SSD to lumafusion anyway. My only concern is the SSD getting hot with long use

Can you do a video comparing editing from external drive on Lumafusion 3.0 on all three ipads (lightning, usb-c and thunderbolt) ?
If you do such a comparison, I would consider doing it on iOS15. It has been confirmed that iOS/iPadOS 15 will offer access to memory, over the 5GB cap. Plus there is likely to be optimizations to the USB-C and Thunderbolt ports. Not sure if doing the comparison on the beta of 15 would be accurate, as tweets, and bug fixes are still happening in the beta. Just my thinking on the topic. :0)

The 2018 iPad only has 3GB RAM per app compared to 5GB on the M1? Surely for "pros" that is a 66% improvement for apps like Procreate that can have far more layers. This must also be relevant for Lumafusion bearing in mind all the YT influencers complaining about the limit. Why recommend a 2018 iPad for pro-use if it only has 3GB per app? Even the 2020 iPad has only 4GB per-app RAM?
You say 30 seconds is not much but that is an 18% improvement so for a generation upgrade (2018=2020 IMHO) that is quite significant and above what you would expect? I assume that Lumafusion will improve with updates as they make use of the neural engine in the M1 iPad and iPadOS 15 optimisations?
I think for real pros like yourself the iPad M1 is a worthwhile investment if it is part of your current workflow? Having a 2GB SSD option, more RAM per app and 16GB RAM which is rumoured to be more useful and of course the 16GB can be used with two apps at the same time both using 5GB per-app where the iPad 2018 will have very limited RAM usage in that scenario?

The m1 was faster to export but hey the 2018 was not bad... no reason to upgrade if you have a 2018 ipad pro
That’s what I’m seeing. I have a 2018, and I’d like an excuse, but I don’t have problems with mine, and my editing isn’t heavy anyway. So I guess I can save money for another year!
But if u don't have it yet. 2018 version is pretty much cheap than m1 version. Difficult decision
@@danielmichinnn I would say that if you can afford it, get the M1. It will be far more future-proof, and I don't think you'll regret it at all. If you're budget strapped, the 2018 will work great for you, but I think the M1 does offer advantages that will be more apparent as time goes on.

There’s no such thing as “optimized” for Lumafusion……….. Lumafusion works equally on all ipads. Its apple that needs to optimize the app in form of increasing app performance and ram/cpu usage
@@RobHK Ah that’s a shame I thought they may have done something similar to Procreate where they optimised the app to take advantage of the M1 chip to let it perform up to 4 times faster.
Lumafusion is optimized in the way that it works well no matter ipad. Tho..the newer the better performance.
But from my testing 2018 and up has similar performance +/-

I am a beta tester for lumafusion, meaning i have beta access.. There´s many testers in the group and we all do report bugs before the final build is complete. This is so all of you guys can have a perfect version on release :)

@@jeremias.lindner More cores doesn't mean better performance either if LumaFusion or other applications don't utilize all cores. Transistor count, shader core count and execution unit count have a much greater impact in the number of calculations a device can perform as well as TDP and the core clock base and boost.

The cap on the M1 won’t be a really a thing anymore, apps can request more RAM in iPadOS 15, so excited for that
