It's finally done! I think it'll be a while before I try something like this again - originally I was planning to start the version 1.6/Golden Apple Archipelago soundtrack next, but it turns out arranging almost half an hour of music for piano takes a lot of time, even if it's not particularly difficult. Instead I really want to tackle some more challenging pieces, like Hornet (Hollow Knight) and Inazuma or some other battle theme from Genshin. I think that would help me grow a lot more as a musician than just trying to push out a lot more content.
(Inazuma is currently in progress, and I've had a draft of Hornet sitting in my computer for several months but haven't had a chance to seriously practice it T_T)
Some Notes:
Snow-Buried Tales - This is actually a different recording from the standalone video that I released in January - the reason being that I decided to re-listen to it was surprised at how strong the left hand chords at the ~0:30 mark are. I think my goal of emphasizing the left hand melody is still correct, but in practice getting the right balance is quite difficult. The version I included in this video errs on the side of being too soft - it's safer/nicer sounding, but a tad bland musically.
Chattering Snowflakes - Easily the trickiest piece out of them all. It took a good month or so of practice before getting this, and even then there's a few mistakes. Note that the way to read the sheet music is to have the right hand as is, and the left hand play the same notes one octave lower. If we try to follow the original literally, one hand should be offset by a sixteenth note, but 1. that's harder and 2. I don't think it actually works very well on piano.
Striding in the Snowstorm - The second half of this piece came out pretty well I think - for a while I was worried it would be too blurry with the multiple voices, but the left hand is clearly distinguishable.
Sinister Mist - I spent a long time thinking about how to arrange this one... until I sat down in front of the piano and tried playing it by ear. It doesn't sound very "misty" but those high note chords felt unexpectedly sinister.
