Ice Blast & River Caves STILL Closed at Blackpool Pleasure Beach | June 2024 Update

- The Ice Blast ride and River Caves ride have been closed at Blackpool Pleasure Beach for most (or all) of the 2024 season, so as the main season is about to start in Blackpool we thought we'd have a look and see if there's any sign of these rides reopening in the coming weeks.

Ice blast I can sort of understand why its still closed, but it really annoys me that there's no communication regarding River Caves. Its a ride that so many of us cherish. The fact that it was open partially on the season's open day until breaking shows that it was anticipated to open as normal this season. Upsets me :(
That’s why the “planned maintenance” line bugs me, it’s unexpected and people at least deserve a basic update.

I suppose the average visitor doesn’t notice these things but add up all the dead or non-operating space in BPB now and it amounts to a massive reduction in rides over the last few years. Ice Blast. The spaces where Trauma Towers and the Wild Mouse were. The empty glass dome thing. River Caves. Grand Prix now closed. Take a map of the park and magic marker all this dead space and I reckon you’re looking at 20-25% of the available space. 😮
Going back further we have black hole to add to that list and space mountain as lost rides
The general public does notice that’s why they aren’t coming. How hard was it for Blackpool to install some flat rides in their place(which they are lacking) flat rides are big crows pleasers the general public love them. They should have put them in place of wild mouse and trauma towers. 100% agree that anything other than a drop tower or something like Loki gyro swing will be a big downgrade. They don’t need a downgrade, they’ve had enough downgrades recently.

All these flat rides that have gone weren't the latest or greatest but they had a charm which gave the park that charm. I understand you have to replace rides due to obsolecence but to just leave the space empty is criminal.
Amanda is into the 'show' side of the amusement industry, her dad was basically an old fashioned fair ground manager who knew rides brought people in

Fingers crossed River Caves comes back even if it does have to be changed or redesigned or something.
It’s such a valuable historic ride that many consider a staple of the park, it would be awful to lose it. Shame the park has been keeping so quiet about it too
Even fixing up ice blast like thrill towers at Ferrari land would be great, I was shocked by the force of that drop, went in expecting nothing but it really delivered
I have heard from staff at Fantasy Island they are using parts from Ice Blast to fix up Volcano as we knnow same model. So Ice Blast is probably on its way out. And River Caves does have a water leak inside it so that's the reason it is closed.
Was at the park today and it was busy and with these 2 plus grand prix all not operating it ment less rides to eat up queues.
Can they close Hot Ice for some “planned maintenance” and sort out the rest of the park? 😂
I just pray to God that river caves does have a future even if it’s reimagined, it’s far too historically important and valuable to lose.
I did hear that apparently Adam behind the Valhalla reimagining does have ideas and plans for it, if that’s the case, then it probably is going to open again but it’s going to get Some proper life put back into it which let’s be honest I have all the dark rid. It’s probably the one that needs at the most.
As for ice blast as long as it was replaced by another flat ride, I’d be okay with that, my preferred choice would be like an updated version of green spin thing at Port of Ventura, as it almost be like a modern tribute to the monster🙂
Re River Caves: If that’s the plan then BPB could communicate it. It needs fixing before reimagining, and hopefully if they are reimagining there’s external creatives who plan it out.
The only good non coaster replacements for Ice Blast are a drop tower (above 200ft) or an Intamin Gyro Swing. Anything else is a massive downgrade.
@@yourexperienceguide I’ve never really liked drop tower rides myself personally but that’s just me, can’t comment on a gyro swing as I haven’t been on one before.
What makes me annoyed is the fact there is no communication from the management but they expect you to still pay high gate prices for what seems a half baked theme park rather pay extra fuel and other expenses and go further down to Thorpe Park
I agree. Where I would always see Blackpool Pleasure Beach as my first port of call, at present I would probably plump for a trip to Alton Towers to be honest…

@@kebarosUK 😂 it certainly aint a resort thats for sure except for the hotel which is the best bit BPB definitely needs to get a grip of its self 😂
@@DJNellym the hotels are probably the main focus for the management team. No one goes to pb for rides or a day out do they?

Ice blast could be retro fitted with the new inverting/spinning seats and be the first in the world to do this 👀
I agree that BPB should say something about what’s happening with these rides. When they say nothing, people get frustrated which only ends with a slightly inappropriate anger tweet from Amanda. Not good for anyone.
That’s why there needs to be a whole new marketing team and PR team, made off of people who actually give a shit!
The question should be which ride is next to be standing there not operating. Can’t see the reasoning why management can’t inform the paying customers why the river caves is currently shut.
Ice Blast is long past it's sell by date and needs to be replaced. River Caves needs to be fixed ASAP. Not having that ride open would deter me from visiting BPB.
It would be sad to loose Ice Blast off the skyline. Something tall needs to go there if it’s removed.
Ice Blast has been removed from the height guide at both the park entrance and guest services. River Caves is still on there tho.
I think they will get the rides open for the summer season only and then maybe close them early september?
BPB need to take a leaf out of thorpe parks book. Thorpe have become far more transparent with their closures, maintenance, what work is taking place and it really helps you be part of that journey. BPB is the polar opposite and actually is really frustrating which means negative PR.

Does anyone know if Ghost Train, Wallace and Gromit Thrill O Matic and River Caves interact with each other all 3 are directly next to each other but have never been able to know where to look on each respective ride.
Ice blast is going to be converted into a 300ft drop tower that will join onto the side of the new coaster ( à la Kingda Ka ).

if they want to quell the rumour talk that us BPB fans are so apparently infamous for, they need more clarity. no amanda, we don’t want to know straight away what’s going to replace grand prix, but we would like some inclination of what’s going to happen to/when some of our favourite and most cherished rides are going to reopen
Get the old octopus ride back from years ago which used to be where ice blast is
you know the drops on valhalla are they more unexpected than they were on the old version
I really hope River Caves reopens. Last time I went on it was the May meet up last year
I think ice blast is past its use by and they are just debating if to fix or replace it if its worth fixing it could also be like you said needs a crane to be able to fix it making it unusable till they do so, and as for river caves its old and no one knows what is wrong with it so who knows when that opens again if ever, this is what i mean the park has a lot of rides that are not working and the gran prix been removed it doesnt make a good impression on the park.
There’s a lot of things going around about the River Caves and that’ll continue until BPB are transparent about it all
@@yourexperienceguide i hope river caves does continue to operate its the best ride of that type i have been on, i havent been on many but this one does a good job at the immersive experiance.
River caves needs fixing asap im sure theres some bespoke engineering company that could make the parts. i really hope that River caves can reopen.

I've noticed ride reliability has really gone downhill in the UK these last few years.

I wouldn’t say guest should know everything, but the more they know the more understanding they’re likely to be.
It’s not great but communication has never been their strong point

It's a pump issue on both rides. They were removed to pump Amanda's ego for the demolirion of the Grand Prix.
They’re so bad at communication. So many rides lost or SBNO in the past 10 years. Hardly any added.

I'm still holding out hope for a massive drop tower to replace Ice Blast! I honestly didn't care what happens to River Caves before, but seeing so much love for the ride has me hoping BPB can save it in some form at least.
