During Covid times I was in a 2019 Camry SE headed home from work. I was rear ended by a drunk driver in a new Acura MDX doing 88mph on a 40mph zone. I was doing about 32 mph due to to heavy traffic. I lived with 4 herniated discs. My car was by sold by my insurance to Toyota and sent to Japan for investigation and found the 2/3 steel beam stopped the Acura and saved my life. The cabin wasnt punctured. I Highly recommend this generation, they are safe. Florida Palm beach sheriffs office called me and told me to come retrieve my dash cam. When I arrived an officer showed me my dash cam footage and the person in the Acura and told me I should be a pancake and that he would be buying his children a 2018+ Camry. Don’t mean to sound like a fanboy but the car saved my life.

Glad you survived that. Subsequent back injuries tho is serious business.
Because you were already moving in the same direction as the drunk, this 56 mph speed difference allowed a more progressive sacrificial crunching, than had you been stopped.
I'm guessing the souse knocked you into other traffic in front of you so the Camry got it from both ends?
Excellent that you survived that, still the mental trauma follows you forever probably.
Did you happen to notice, it looked like the windshield survived all these crashes except I think the last one maybe did break the edges on the driver side, or maybe both sides a bit. I suspect an extra thick laminated ws probably to help address road and wind noise. I'm a real fan of these extra thick glass. Sideglass too makes a vehicle so much quieter. I will spring for it if given the option but of course it's usually packaged with other superfluous stuff I don't want..like sunroofs. I'll bet this Camry would not have faired the lower speed hits as well if it had a sunroof. Did yours?
      All the best 👍

I know there'll be lots of people who'd say a head on collision of two cars each at 60 mph is equal to a collision against a wall at 120 mph. But this is wrong! The only case that what has been said is correct is if the wall is non-collapsible. If the wall is collapsible, a 60 mph impact can equal to a head-on collision with another car with the same weight anywhere between 0 to 120 mph depending on how collapsible the wall is and how what the mass of the wall is. e.g. an impact with a very collapsible light weight wall can have a damage much less than a 60 mph head on collision with another equal car.
