I think Wheeler and Scheifele had too much of a say into a lot of stuff in the locker room. Wheeler knew he wasnt a 1st liner anymore but didn't want to give up his spot in the lineup I think they both have to go for the Jets to get past all this drama hopefully they do
Lots of people keep saying that, but that's not the player's fault. That's all on a coach.
Coach moves the lines around, if players don't like it they'll go to the GM/owner to bitch.
If a GM tells me what my lines are, I'd say fire me and find a coach to be your lap dog.
That last interview really showed some players true colors, Stas probably won’t be around in Winnipeg much longer but clearly cares about this team and the success they have. Scheif and Wheeler can take a walk and let guys like Connor, Ehlers and PLD lead the locker room

Maybe when Buff was there he kept things somewhat workable between the players...after he left things got bad...Laine left...Mark and Blake felt they knew what was best for the team....Maurice left....time for a major change somewhere. Doesn't help now that Mark is not the coaches pet...and Dave L knew the issues when he took over as coach but probably is restricted in his ability to make major changes.

Jets might be the franchise people know the least about, but i think alot of people read alot in to Paul Maurice's resigning and it having to do with something like this, not just Scheifele but the core players.

The Jets lost Byfuglien and Trouba bc of these 2 as well.

Susan your analysis is more accurate than what's stated in the video...unfortunately. it's a sad situation. Many players (and their carrers) have suffered under the rule of #26 an #55 and the organization allowed it. This team deserves their dismal season endings the last 2 years.

Laine was the laziest player on the Jets, yes he can score but he's a defensive liability (but nobody is allowed to criticize him right?) This is where I see Wheeler doing his job as the captain telling Laine to smarten up and play better but I think Laine took that a little too personally and he cried about it to the Finnish papers. (I don't really think Laine was much of a team player)

That was only because he got COVID earlier in the season and had to deal with the long-term effects of it all year- which is called "long COVID"! If that wouldn't have happened, he'd have been just as good- if not even better- than Dubois!
when a head coach is too afraid to interject and stop harassments of his own players, you've failed. it's NOT AT ALL the same situation, but that sort of fear/complacency/win first screw everything else attitude is something that affected kyle beach for life. i mention it because that sort of toxicity can create really bad situations when left unchecked/out of control. just terrible. how winnipeg comes back from that i don't know. that's just unprofessional, outside of sports.

I brought it up because both situations have instance of toxic culture and severe lapse of action and professionalism in stopping these situations. I brought up Beach because there was an extreme failure from the organization that made a bad situation worse. It could've been addressed right away but the powers that be (coach, gm, etc.) Let down a victim. The toxic culture at the start was a significant part of how that horrible situation took so long to be addressed, let alone publicly. I mention it here because I don't want that kind of neglect to happen to any player in any organization ever again. I'm trying to be clear that my issue is toxic culture in an organization. Kyle Beach was an extreme case, an unfortunate case that I wish on no one. The Chicago organization had multiple opportunities to do something and didn't. This is the concern and why I brought it up here. I don't want any other organization to get to that point. I don't want a Domino effect of complacency to affect another person. Sexual assault and a bad locker room are obviously not the same thing. But when both happen, the organization has failed to step up to protect their player and victim. I hope I'm making the distinction clear.

Once the Winnipeg Jets hire Barry Trotz as their next head coach, everybody on the team will be 100% committed defensively!
I think Schiefle is a cancer if the Jets can't come to an agreement with him to move forward in their overall plan. The Jets have been underachievers for years, I get his angst. If they can't meet on policy I think Mark has a responsibility to accept to be traded to the contender that offers the maximum return.

yes they are the issue. look at the record the jets have when those two arent in the lineup. and im not even a jets fan but they have a good few young players that are really good but under appreciated because theyve been hid behind these two. paul statsny is showing more leadership than wheeler and it seems obvious the leadership is in disarray. in my opinion its on management and paul maurice as well to have not sensed this issue rising and choosing scheifele and wheeler over laine.

With the original management staying….you think every coach thinking about a wpg job hasn’t first talked to Maurice….they might have an issue attracting a decent coach without first making a few changes….not to mention keeping good happy players around. Also wpg is not the best environment in the league to live at outside of the rink.

Great video, certainly helped clear up a lot of confusion I had about the situation. As a Jets fan, I’ve been a big fan of Scheifele’s for many years. He’s always been one of our best players. I would be sad to see him go, but if’s it’s for the better of the team, then maybe letting him go is the best decision.

Laine was the tipping point why these guys went to the conference against Vegas. Schiefele has been shit in my books since that hit on Jake Evans in the playoffs last year

It seems the Jets have had a lot of locker room cancers. Laine, Evander Kane, Byfuglien, Trouba, now Scheifele and maybe Dubois, who was a locker room cancer in Columbus. I've always thought of Scheifele as the "Good Ol' Canadian Boy". How can he be a locker room cancer? Something's gone wrong with this team, which showed so much promise a couple of years back. It's too bad.

As for Torts, he has a pretty good record for being the "worst coach", He won a Stanley cup and had pretty fair success in both new York & Columbus. The only place he really failed was Vancouver, and that was already a declining club with a country club atmosphere. Torts' main problem is he's only good for a couple of years and then the players get tired of him. As for Laine, I agree. He's a $10M talent with $5M results. Maybe one day he'll put it together for a whole year.
I don't know the guy but it seems he lacks humility and empathy and those things along with hard work win cups so he better change his attitude and outlook if he wants to be named with the greats

Scheifele proved himself a selfish, egotistic, and stupid, player when he carried out that egregious hit which got him suspended from the playoffs against the Canadiens last year. That might have cost the Jets the ability to advance and no doubt produced divisions on the team.

I mean who signs an extension and then two weeks later TANKS his play to get traded and then he didn't even last more than three years on the Jets and I am going to say that he maybe lasts 4 on the Kings before he demands another trade. And here's the thing, he's made the playoffs with both the jackets and the jets, but he refused to stay. And as an Avs fan I don't like Duchene but his request to get out of Colorado was at least reasonable as they went through a large stretch of missing playoffs and only getting to the first round just to be swept or maybe get it to a 5 game series.

Also have spoken to Jets past and present regarding the situation. Also learned from Laine family he didn't want to play in Winnipeg. Not saying there weren't issues but it wasn't one sided

I think Bufligen was a great asset to winnipeg but Sheifele and Wheeler needed to be running the show and Maurice allowed them to.
Zane and Buff are strong personalities that wouldn't take crap from Sheifele and Wheeler. Buff even lost money leaving early... who does that unless its unbearable to stay.
You say Laine's family gave you info that he wanted to leave? Maybe 🤭 but why would Laine stay to be bullied by those 2 and the coach didn't stop any of it.
Laine was an 18 year old kid, moving across the ocean to hick city Winnipeg and all he wanted to do was play hockey and these 2 bullied him right from the start.

I'm fine with the jerk moments but to call someone cancerous is just cancerous. These athletes are human beings. This is their job, this is sports things aren't going to be as smooth as butter.

In fact, I've heard other players say similar if not even identical things over the years, so it's not a big deal at all! People are getting their panties in a wad for no reason!
