This kind of music exists in these days.. but you won't find in any mainstream media... try something like Nightwish or Ayreon (from someone whose first memory, at age of 6 or 7, where the cover art of this exact Genesis album (when it was new stuff).. and was scared as hell from Nursey Cryme) then you can go to the dark side and proceed with some Tool... and tasking some Dream Theather and Rush to ease the transition... (that is what i've done the past 2/3 years..) and you'll find new horizons (not that i've forgotten Genesis, King Crimson, Yes.. )

Phil Collins is one of the best drummers ever lived. The creativity of this man is amazing.
Sad that i never had the chance to see him play live.
Same goes for every 70's Prog. Rock band.
If there would ever be a posibilty to travel back in time, The 70's would be the first stop.
and after it i would go far back to hear the great classic masters like Beethoven,
    Wagner, Verdi.
I would simply travel through time and listen to music for the rest of my days

You're so lucky that you can listen to ANYTHING now, at the click of a button. In the 70s, you only got to hear what was played on the radio, or what your mates had. Oh, The Old Grey Whistle Test was pretty good, too.

Love for music can be blind too, and everyone loves what the heart says, but there's no need to disrespect Phil Collins' Genesis just because they prefer Peter Gabriel's or prog rock. 70's Genesis should always be remembered and celebrated, but not more than Phil Collins' Genesis or Peter Gabriel solo career, that aren't in any way worse than the younger Genesis as some want to make believe. They all became more and more mature, experienced and wiser, with stronger melodies and lyrics so much more relatable, and smart, and so much more evolved production. Love for all.

Some interesting notes about the song from Wikipedia:
The song was developed from several brief piano pieces composed by frontman Peter Gabriel, which were later combined with some of Steve Hackett's guitar figures to make up the song.
Gabriel contributed English-themed lyrics to "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight", because the music press thought that Genesis were putting too much effort into appealing to the American audiences. He also included some references to Green Shield Stamps in the lyrics. Rolling Stone wrote that the song was an "epic commentary on contemporary England"

"Can you tell me where my country lies?"
Said the unifaun to his true love's eyes
"It lies with me!" cried the Queen of Maybe
For her merchandise, he traded in his prize
"Paper late!" cried a voice in the crowd
"Old man dies!" The note he left was signed 'Old Father Thames'
    It seems he's drowned
    Selling england by the pound
    Citizens of Hope & Glory,
Time goes by, it's "the time of your life"
    Easy now, sit you down
    Chewing through your Wimpey dreams,
    They eat without a sound
    Digesting England by the pound
Young man says "you are what you eat" eat well
Old man says "you are what you wear" wear well
You know what you are, you don't give a damn
Bursting your belt that is your homemade sham
The Captain leads his dance right on through the night
    Join the dance
Follow on! Till the Grail sun sets in the mould
Follow on! Till the gold is cold
Dancing out with the moonlit knight,
Knights of the Green Shield stamp and shout
There's a fat old lady outside the saloon
laying out the credit cards she plays Fortune
The deck is uneven right from the start
And all of their hands are playing apart
The Captain leads his dance right on through the night
    Join the dance
Follow on! A round table talking down we go
    You're the show
Off we go with, you play the hobbyhorse,
    I'll play the fool
    We'll tease the bull
Ringing round & loud, loud & round
Follow on! With a twist of the world we go
Follow on! Till the gold is cold

Selling England by the Pound is one of those concept albums about the consequences of modernization, albeit one that can get lost in translation because of all the references to British companies. Like, when Peter Gabriel sings in this song:
    "Chewing through your Wimpy dreams
    They eat without a sound
    Digesting England by the Pound."
He's referring to the Wimpy's burger chain from the UK, which was kind of like Burger King in the sense that it was very present in the 1970s.

No one who ever ate food from a Wimpy would refer to it as the stuff of dreams, however, 'dreams' could easily refer to the dream of a new life with a new suburban house (i.e the dreams of the young middle class). Anyone in the UK at the time would recognise Wimpey as like every other mass suburban 'redevelopment' company they plastered their signs all over their 'sparkling' new estates.

I'd never heard of Genesis until '83 when they released the "Genesis" album and liked it a lot. Phil's "Coming in the Air" I was familiar with but hadn't connected him with Genesis. Our local library had "Selling England" and "ToTT" so I checked those out and absolutely loved them. In a short while I had the whole collection to date, but honestly wasn't terribly impressed with their music after Steve left. A lot of it was okay (JMHO) but I really fell in love with the Hackett-Gabriel era.

I’ve never found anything else like the music of Genesis.
