what a great setup for both live and pc footage!! that rpg book recommendation during loading screen also adds to the feeling of "being there", doing it all in real time, nice! after seeing many of these "review" type videos I realize it IS helpful to see exactly how long it all takes, so the less editing the better, imo

On the Reddit post there is also a section for Panels. 4 panels+Default Panel. depending on its release you might need to use a different one. in my case it was Panel 4. Hope this helps someone.

I have successfully flashed my card and it's great, but on all my psp games when I use analogue stick to go left it turns right on screen and vice versa the left goes right, I'm new to this can you help please .
Price (buying 2 cards) aside, is there a performance benefit to using one sd card? I'd personally like to have separate cards in case something happens to one of the roms or the OS. This way I only have to either reload the OS or the ROMS, not both.
What would I need to do differently to use this proper ArkOS image, but to use a separate ROM SD?
How much peformance gain are we talking? Because i got the r35mp ArkOS and its running fine for me
i used a 256GB card. after flashing, there is only 781MB free. is that right? i.e. 250GB used up? before any roms are added?

hey i was wondering if you knew how to fix not being able to save game progress, for example i tried saving mario and the UI when i clicked the left joystick on my powkiddy rgb20s was much different than some of the videos ive seen online of people saving their progress with the same console I was wondering if i needed to upgrade arkos? btw the version im on is 05-11-2023

@F_Dot_ turns out I was using 2 sd cards the R36s didn't like... it was a Kingston 64gb and a Sandisk 64gb card... it worked with a Samsung 64gb card

I have follwoed the steps and got the new ark os flashed on to the exact samsung card - however when I popped it in the r36s - there were only 34 random games on it not all the others I was expecting - have I missed a step?

did it one by one and it does not work again. it doesnt matter which video i watch or which img files it does not work XD maybe its the sandisc? Maybe its the screen files? idk man
There’s actually a newer version of ARK OS from 27/1/2024. If you USB tether your R36S to an Android device you can have the newer update super easy. How do I know? I got my device two days ago and did exactly that!
How do I USB tether to my android phone? Is it just USB C to USB C? Do you know of a guide by chance?
@@chichibents You can use a USB C to USB C cable to connect the devices together, or alternatively you can use a OTG USB C to USB cable or adapter connected to your R36S and the USB cable that came with your phone to connect the devices together. Once your R36S is connected to your phone go to Connections and choose the USB Tethering option. If your option is shaded and not available to choose then you must go into System Settings on your phone and choose About phone then and press Build Number seven times, this will enable Developer Options, now the USB tethering can be selected. Once you have the Developer Option enabled, go back to Connections and choose it, then go to your R36S and in the option menu choose Update. This will start the process. Just be patient as it takes some time to complete and make sure you have your R36S plugged in to the charger while this process completes because if the battery dies while completing the update it will more than likely corrupt the process. I hope this helps you 🙂

@@chichibents Super easy (barely an inconvenience) USB C to USB C is handiest, but you can get a USB a to C dongle for a euro or two otherwise. Jacek Rusin has a sort of guide on his channel.

I updated the R36S with the latest version of arkos, but now when I try to exit the games with select+start the games no longer exit, and I cannot see the retroarch options with select+X. what should I do?
I noticed that and I couldn't get the WiFi to work with WiFi adapter. Going to reflash older firmware to see if it fixes

For those who are wondering why their SD card has only about 750 mb after flashing -> don't worry, just put a card into a console and all remaining memory will be automatically allocated after system boot. Then you can just remove card from console, insert it into pc again and copy all roms :)

Are you shutting down correctly? You're not supposed to just hold down the power button to shut off. You have to either go to "start" menu to quit>shutdown or hold hot keys R3 + POWER to safely shut down

Do you know why r36s doesn't read all cards? I have a 16GB SanDisk Ultra memory card, I want to use it for games (TF2-GAME slot), the console cannot detect it. The card works on other devices.

For the record, I own all original Shining Force 3 episodes and Premium Disc for Sega Saturn (even PAL and USA), so I CAN legally play them. I just want them translated!!!
Assume you've seen our video on Saturn emulation as that's the correct version. Have you tried archive.org? If not there, then you'll need to keep hunting

Hi, need help resolving r36s uddate issue. It stuck in a black screen after powering on. No amount of updating, flashing and resetting works. First I thought it was the cheap stock sd card so I bought another branded card and flashed it with 2023 arkos according to RetroGameCorps' arkos guide and a few more setup vids.. Nothing works :|

@@PurpIeMonkey27 Hi, I found out after using 3 different types of card readers that the one initially used had some sort of power shortage so it kindof corrupted the image and the flashing app showed no errors. Now it boots up perfectly to the Jan '24 update, takes a bit of time setting up but works fine.

Hi, My uncle is having an issue where the r36s boots up and you see the first screen, then the screen goes blank and nothing else happens but the blue light remains on, usually i'd put this down to a battery issue but he's charged off the provided charger and tried serveral chargers and nothing, even tried letting it run completely out then recharging but nadda, could this be down to a dead SD card? it's literally 2 days old - Unfortunately he lives a bit away so i can't swap the battery out/SD card out to test either of those.

@@hyperplayrpg So I managed to fix this, It was the OS card which at first my laptop didn't recognize as being plugged in either but eventually it accepted it so I dropped reloaded the ArkOS onto it Via rufus and bang worked after taking about 30 minutes installing, i've told my uncle to get a new trusty sd card though.
I did all these steps. did the two card option and one card option and nothing. Tried sandisk, and tried samsung card and nothing

I have heard that there are potential issues with the latest 2024 build. Anyone else heard the same? I'll let someone else beta test for me since my current build plays fine. 😅
Jacek Rusin has recorded a video on his channel how to fix that problem. Don't worry about that update. If you play PSP games a lot, I can strongly recommend to update, as that new emulator significantly boosts smoothness in many games.
No probs with arkos update 2024 , works fine here . .
I can verify the newer 2024 build works a treat on my R36s
I updated today and it destroyed my OS disk. Had to reflash and start over using the community supported version. So I can say the 2024 update does indeed break some installs. 😢

Ok so i Downloaded ArkOs ( I have like 3 by now, everyone uses a diff host) Extract it, then flash it to my new SD card using rufus, and make sure they're both formatted to FAT32 or exFAT
it's the whole replacing DTB files that get lost. i may have mix matched some.
I have the original DTB files....
After i'm done flashing, I put it back in and nothing loads, just black. Do i have to take my original DTBs i saved from the stock SD card and replace with the ones that were flashed ONTO the sd card???

Yup. See the Description. New isn't always better though: we've heard the Jan 2024 builds aren't as stable
Still easier to use Raspberry Pi Imager. You can format SD card,image from compressed image and verify all in one tool.
These are all other peoples discoveries and innovations.
i did everything correctly and i just get a black screen... probably the cause of the sandisk ssd and the fact that its only 32gb's but eh.. it was worth a shot...

How to do this in a mac?
On MacOS, don't follow the advice avoid using BalenaEtcher and rather use ApplePi-Baker. I failed many times without ArkOS correct behaviour after le boot.bmp screen.
Indeed : DO USE BalenaEtcher. I only succeeded this way (Etcher v1.18.11)
1) Purchase a branded 64GB or 128GB microSD with fast speed access.
2) Backup right now the stock junk microSD : boot.ini and .dtb files for safe and restore (if lost, get files from AeolusUX/R36S-DTB, try the different sets until success)
2bis) Backup all EASYROM partition as well, before the stock microSD seriously fails
3) Download the ArkOS img ArkOS_RG351MP_v2.0_02232024.img for RG351MP.
4) Use Etcher to flash the microSD with Arkos IMG. Let it verify the sd is consistent.
5) In partition Boot, copy-paste the 5 files (boot.ini and .dtb files)
6) Insert the micro sd in the right edge slot, and start the R36S. Should it boot, show the splash screen, ArkOS and the cycling dots, few after : it will shows in text mode screen with several auto actions outputs... will take 10minutes in my case. Be patient, the screen will scroll with resizing and file copying.
Auto actions (no user input required) : On my 128GB microsd, the boot keeps on with resizing the EASYROMS partition to fully occupy the remaining space of the microsd
7) until the EmulationStation fancy frontend : with no games which is normal

Next with the handheld shutdown to plug/unplug the microsd card :
8) manage your ROMs : delete unused games, add your favorite games from your personal library, paste any suited ROMset
9) scrap your ROMs
10) copy your ROMs back to the SD
11) complete the BIOSes files (not required in my case)
12) customise the themes : add your selected ones that fits 640x480 from amongst : github.com/Jetup13/Emulationstation-OGA-Theme-Gallery ; retrogamecorps.com/2020/10/15/rg351p-themes-guide/
13) customise the splash boot, and waiting screen...
14) customise the bgmusic...

It works just fine without the update but any emulation device is going to require you to do things. It's usually as simple as changing emulators for best performance because not all games are the same--some emulators work better than others with different games. That being said, you're not required to do anything out of the box. If you can't manage that, get yourself a Gameboy.
