See this is the type of stuff I want to do more of. FILLER VID! The almost-potential capital of the world that never happened. Home of the hidden Cocolo people (and one of the coolest interviews I've ever recorded). The micro-climate treasure of the D.R. This is Samaná. Hope you enjoy this one guys!

How is your comment 47 mins ago???
Interesting
cover sovereign citizens after done sovereign states?
A couple of things. "Lugareño" is not a word. What you meant to say is "locales", as in "la gente local" or "la gente locales".
"Bacano" doesn't mean "vacation", it means "cool/great/awesome/etc".
Thank you so much for coming and sharing the magic of Samana with the rest of the World!
❤
It looks truly beautiful there and the people seem so very friendly and down to earth.
He had to go to El limon, and playa Rincon ^^👍👍
Brawo Panie Marku! Dobra robota 😄 Great job!
Indeed
I don't understand why people would hate on you so much for wanting to do anything luxurious. You've been doing this far too long and produced way too much great content to not warrant fantastic lush and luxurious filled trips.
People hate that kind of travel, because it's fake. Simple is that... ;)
also, people donr know that some countries is not jus about poverty, there is luxury,m and middle class as well, and all of that combine , is part of a reality, but sadly some people just want their own flaw perspectives of the world to be validated instead of learning
Exactly
Thats called Envy
My wife (she's Dominican) and I went to Samana on our honeymoon. What an absurdly beautiful place. Like unrealistically. Love it.
Oh wao. Thank you, I am dominican and from Santiago. Santiago is a pretty beautiful city and I prefer it to New York or Miami (I studied in the States). Yet, I've never visited Samana! I'll definitely have to go next weekend. Cheers! Such an incredible way of using "absurd" in a sentence. lol
How much money you need if your going for 2 nights
Depends how you do it. A resort is gonna run you some cash for sure. But if you find a good deal with AirBnB it can be quite affordable. If you do that I'd make sure someone you're with speaks Spanish though, just so you can get around more easily.@@poloact6838
As a Dominican-American who has spent the last 20 years in South Korea, it's nice to see a slice of DR I haven't visited since the early 90s. Kudos, saludos and 안녕~
Oh, yo viví en Corea 7 años
Estuve en korea por un ano con el army me encanto eso por aya.
Saludo
Mucha bendiciones a todos los Dominicanos de un Boricua del Norte 🙏🏼 ❤
Igual a ti. Un abrazo.
Saludos desde New Haven, Connecticut 🇵🇷
As a Dominican, I am glad you made another video of our country 🇩🇴
As a Dominican I'm so glad you went here and enjoyed our country!
It was incredible to listen to 75 year old Federico still speaking English up to this day. There is so much history and culture involved at Samana. The Dominican Republic is such a beautiful land full of friendly people! . Thank you so much for the video! Greetings from Puerto Rico! 😀
So glad to have had the chance to show you around the beautiful Samaná peninsula!❤ Hope to see you there again 😊
I've been to many places, and the DR is definitely in the top 3 of most wholesome and welcoming country I've ever been to
As a Puertorriqueño I also heard about guacagaranix. Samaná is so gorgeous I hope they don’t overdevelop it.
Omg 😢yes Dios mio😢 look what they doing to our beautiful little Puerto ricoooooo
It is interesting that you mentioned that most of the roads on Samana were unpaved because my Godmother is a Dominican civil engineer and she was in charge of paving the Sanchez-Samana highway. Greeting from a Chilean Dominican sub in Washington Heights NYC aka Little DR USA
I'm Dominican and will be visiting Samana this weekend for the first time. Also, "Vacano" means being a level above awesome (whatever that word may be) not "Vacation" 🙂
The interview section just warmed my heart! Also just so you know, we as a country received two waves of English speaking African descendent groups: the cocolos came from West Indian Islands to work on the sugar plantations during the early 20th Century, mostly in San Pedro De Macoris and La Romana (some also moved to Barahona and Puerto Plata). The second group were the African Americans in Samaná that also influenced the local cuisine of the area; you go there and you see a lot of dishes and baked goods that contain coconut. Anyways thanks for putting my country on display!!!
We got to stop this false Information of African Americans it's made up name title they not African they hebrew please get it right
DR did not welcome any African-Americans. The black americans were brought by the Haitian government when Haiti occupied the whole island. It was part of Haiti's plan to have blacks settle the eastern part of the island.
The African Americans actually came first in the 19th century in 1824
As a Polish I'm proud of the sponsor of this trip
There come many polish tourists in samana. Welcome guys.
As a Polish-heritage California, I agree 👍🏼
Why, is he your son? I always get confused when people are "proud" of something they didn't accomplish themselves. Like, I'm proud if my kid does something cool, but I don't understand how people can be proud of some sports team they are not even a member of.
@@mobo7420 sth like national pride of some kind. It's a translation anyway so maybe there is no suitable equivalent in English
Might I add about the Cocolos.. while some of them came from the US, a vast group also came from the Caribbean islands to cut sugar cane. The interesting fact is that some came from Tortola British Virgin Islands but Dominicans could not pronounce Tortola and Cocola stuck. You will find an eastern Caribbean flavor in the cocolos.
Please come to the British Virgin Islands 🇻🇬 🙏
Nice. That part I'm not sure we're aware in the DR. It makes sense.
i'm Dominican myself. the cocolos are actually a different ethnicity from the English speaking Dominicans in Samana. We call them Samana americanos. they were the escaped salves from the usa. alot of cocolos were from st Thomas and also St Lucia. Of course, Turks and Caicos
@@jesusdavis2941 seras tu que no lo sabias
@@Regina.Falange que vienen de las islas claro que sí, lo de que la palabra cocolo derive de Tórtola no, o tu me vas a decir que tu si lo sabías?
Me alegra que mi hermano latino RD sea muy turistico saludos de Costa Rica. 🇨🇷🤝🇩🇴
Gracias bro. Su país es muy bonito también 👍
Gracias mae, un abrazo hasta alla!
You don't need to apologize for loving travelling, Barbs! Yes, we, as your audience, are waiting for the next Geography Now episode, but the every sponsored video you've made is fun and interesting, they're no these lasy advertisements ppl usually expect from such content. So keep up the good work!
A part of the DR I never heard of. It is full of character and beauty. Keep making more of these Barbs.
1:23 "my subs hate it when I do stuff like this"
Your shenanigans definitely have a nice charm
Your sponsor seems like the kind of guy we'd watch Bond fight in a movie.
hats off for the amount of effort that Wine Glass joke probably took. Really committing to a bit. I love it
Correction, the Guacanagarix complex is not welcoming people. But thinking/believing that everything thats from out of the country is better. Thinking that life elsewhere is always better, Thinking something made elsewhere is always better... so and so on.
exacto
Thanks barbs for visiting my country. I hope you had a great time. I been a fan before the Dominican Republic episode ^^🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
Proud Dominican here and I’m so happy you got to experience our little slice of heaven! 😍🇩🇴
Also, Vacano is a Dominican word that means cool, not vacation Barb lol
Exacto, solo que es bacano*, con 'B' no 'V'.
Great video, greetings from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
DR is beautiful! Can’t wait to visit
Currently in Cambodia after Indonesia
It's a nice little island with tons of places to explore.
Loved the video! As a Puerto Rican, I had always heard of Samaná, as a place in the DR, but had never actually seen or learned much about it. Thanks for the video! Do one about Puerto Rico! I know you went there on this trip, but only for a few hours... I'd love to see your take on a trip there.
I have always wanted to travel to this beautiful and vibrant nation for the longest time.
Such a beautiful country with a very interesting history, culture, and people.
Love and respect to the Dominican Republic from Canada 🇨🇦❤🇩🇴
Hope you have a good time whenever you go.
When you come i recommend you the north coast because there are also many Canadians in that area. 👍👍👍.
My beautiful Samana 😍🇩🇴
Zip lining while holding a glass of wine. Now that’s a skill. Great video of showing the locals. 👏👏👏
Wow, this video made me want to visit the DR. You all seem like lovely people !! Thanks for sharing them with us, Barbs!
You are welcome always here.
As a Dominican, I can proudly say 'Eh, it's all right.'
Hahaha “Vacano” means like a chill person not “vacation” barbs lol but still great episode and thank you for visiting my home country
Came to say this haha
Hey man, not all your subscribers are backpackers (not anymore). Some of us passed by the backpacker lifestyle, but still like travelling to nice and not popular places like this one. Keep it up this kind of content.
I want to say that Dominicans acknowledge that Puerto Ricans invented Mofongo. The difference is who makes it better.
We made mangú tho
@@randomgamerdude98 actually el mangú came straight from Africa, we just made it our trademark
@@jesusdavis2941 Mangú and Mofongo have roots in Africa but both dishes as we know it today were born in DR and PR respectively. So he’s not wrong in saying Dominicans invented mangú. Both of those dishes derive from African Fufú which is quite different, different enough to be different dishes altogether.
@@raycuevas7577 i'd rather say it was adapted and evolved
We have Patacón, even in merengue, is plátano majados en el pilón.
My favourite dish I tried in Dominican Republic was sancocho with some nice kassava bread to top it off! I am not usually a fan of meat but anything in the sancocho goes. I had it at an hacienda just outside Puerto Plata.
Man that whole Napoleon thing is wild. I didn't know that. Very cool place I learned about today.
I'm Dominican and this is a great video, when you asked the question what it means to be Dominican my Adrenaline went right up, been Dominican means a lot we love life and enjoy it to fullest, the music, the food, the people we are just as cool as it could get.
Didn't even have to watch it to give a like. The thumbnail got me right away ❤😂
We are from Samaná. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the Dominican Republic. Our people, culture is unique.
Amazing video, thx to show how beautiful is or península 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
You are fantastic 😄 Great video!
Ohh, Polish man - Marek! Interesting - somebody from my country sponsored such stuff, that's nice.
Samana is definitely on my bucket list now!!!
I do want to go to Samaná one day, just to visit that beach from the movie Old. It is just a phenomenal looking beach, and it would be darkly hilarious if it became a destination for retirees.
I recommend you playa rincón. Magical beach with a Magical river.
You dont have to explain yourself :) You have right to accept sponsored offers. You worked for it really hard. Enjoy!
I like this quick focused format, showing a few things from a smaller region in more detail.
Another amazing video
Much love from DR, loved the video!
This is such a great video Paul!!! Keep it up, and you deserve to take advantage of this type of support while making the content super culturally educational. Keep it up!
Thank you for visiting my country ❤️
Goose bumps!!!! LOVE IT EVERY TIME WHEN MY COUNTRY HERE
This is a fantastic episode, Thank you,Barbs!!
Glad you came Barbs! hope you can come to Santo Domingo and show some of the less known city life in the DR next time! awesome video
Samaná!!! Love it there, coming back this year!!
Glad you enjoyed your visit! Other places here that get overshadowed by Punta Cana are Puerto Plata/Sosua, Bayahibe and Isla Saona in terms of beaches, but you can also see a lot of beautiful landscapes in the Cibao region, specially in the town of Constanza. Google it up!
This is one of my favorite videos that you have done. Ive wanted to visit there ever since I learned about the Cocolos years ago
This made my heart full. My country, one of my favorite province ❤
Thanks for coming!!! 🎉
I love this kinda videos. Saludos to all my Dominican brother and sisters desde Puerto Rico. Los caribeños somos los mejores.
It's nice to see you travelling this time
Interesting video and tour to Samana, beautiful place
Very nice updated video to the DR Episode
Loved it! It's sad that you came here and I couldn't meet you, but someday in the future, here you have a subscriber willing to invite you to a dinner in a very Dominican place.
Thanks for doing this, it was neat!
I have no problem with you going to fancy-smancy places! I get to see places that I probably will never afford! Plus you always stay humble so I don't mind!
Awesome video
This channel is really cool and underrated. Also Federico seems like a really cool person!
underrated?? he has 3.2 million subs! the secret is out
i love your channel Thanks for visiting DR we hope to see you again here
You went to the best part of dr 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
"Vacano" is not vacation though. It's closer to "cool"
What a fascinating video.
This was real good and you covered plenty of key points for the allowed time. Congratulations on your communication.
❤ Excellent job... Thanks for sharing ❤
inspiring and a good alternative to the country series
My fav channel, going back to my country, this is priceless, thank you ! :) I invite you to visit central Ciboa region.. Santiago.. Constanza and Jarabacoa!
Proud to be dominican 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴
This was super interesting way to go👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾💯💯
Great video.
Thank you for coming to my country! Great video! Samana is probably the most beautiful part of our country.
I haven’t been there in so long! This brought back a lot of memories
So fun! Greetings from Santo Domingo. 🙂
Loved it, just subscribed 👍🏼👌
Mr. Federico seems like such a cool gentleman. Good taste in clothes, has a great physique, has a rosary, is very humble, and is very knowledgeable. Many of us can learn from him.
Buen trabajo.
SAMANA CITY 🇩🇴 Thank you for the Video !
Hello from Malta :)
Cool great video
my fav place of my country ! great video.....
That cocolo man was so nice!
Good Tourism Video! 👌🏼 Very well made.
AMAZING !
"I swear like I'm not like other girls" 😂😂
Barbs, love your content and offbeat presentation style. I'm a geography nut who plays Worldle every night. My reminder for the Dominican Republic is that it looks like the profile of a Pirate looking West with a pointy beard to the South and the Samaná like a ribbon in the Caribbean breeze above a ponytail. What do you think?
Thank you so much to make this about my country, you'll always be welcome here and next time try to visit my province which is called Puerto Plata.
Looove these dude! 😊
Hey! I am one of your subscribers and I love it when you do everything! This included!❤❤❤
Long time subscriber!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Skip Punta Cana. Visit Samana instead :)
I wish I would have known you were coming before so I could have met you. Love your content.
I wouldn't mind at all watching you sipping cocktails in some luxury place. It's just as interesting as the low-budget stuff!
Bro thank you for going to RD, I being a fan for a long time now I know for sure I will be a fan forever , en Hora buena y Bendiciones 🎉🎉🎉🎉
