I have subscribed to your channel because of this video. Thank you.
You can't imagine what perfect timing this is as I'm getting ready to do this and it is sort of overwhelming. Having this complete guide is perfect, thanks!
Ha nice! Glad I can help out
I'm nowhere near ready to start building and, as a beginner, I'm finding just the planning to be almost overwhelming. I know from other activities that one step at a time will work, as long as I manage my natural impatience.
Same here, perfectly timed!
Thanks for putting this together. I appreciate your knowledgeable, no nonsense approach.
Glad it was helpful!
Where have you been all my life? Thank you.
Fantastic. Building my first set of workbench cabinets and this just so happened to be in the front page on CZcams. Thank you for posting. Great video.
I think this is the best woodworking guide I've ever seen! You have a great way of explaining things, and your process is logical
Great video and my guide to building my first set of cabinets for my workshop.
I like the way you explain everything. And the way you work is very clean and all the tools and materials are immaculately in place. Congrats my friend I hope you get a lot of subscribers doing this.
Thank you very much!
YES! I'm about to build cabinets for our bathroom redo and this is AWESOME!
Nice! 💯
What an absolutely excellent video. So much value packed into here.
I enjoyed this video. When I want to build a large cabinet for my crafting.
Go for it!
This is excellent. Learned alot. Thank you
This the best Woodworking guide i ever watch . god bless you .
Oh wow awesome thanks 🙏
Nice work!
The first set of Cam you made when you set the draw slides I noticed they were set back even with the plywood, but you did overlay doors and drawer fronts.
The part I always have trouble with and I've never seen anyone address it, is properly sizing the drawers with slides so it's not too snug or too small. I measure every time and I seem to always be too tight.
Also the other thing is how do you ensure that your cabinet doors have the same gap on the sides? I haven't done drawers or cabinets yet for my workbench I built and I'm still trying to figure out how to get the reveal the same before I do them.
Thanks for a comprehensive video, really enjoyed it! Noticed at the end the ease of drilling on the wall , are
you sure thats concrete 😅? Also why not use plugs?
Hey Matt, do you need carbide tungsten cutter and CNC router bits? We can help you custom too.
How do you like the gripper tool for table saw cutting?
EXELENT THANKS
Great series and perfectly timed! About to build a complete set of kitchen cabinets, and your videos are the best out there.
Question: At 56:55, installing undermount slides to the cabinet, do you have a spacer between slide and cabinet side? I'm guessing so, but you don't say and I can't see. Im.guessing your face frame overhangs the side, but also unsure what the face frame width is and how it's positioned. Thanks!
Yes, 1/4" spacers
@@MWAWoodworks Awesome, thanks!
Can you do a video using basic tool all I have is a skill saw & nail guns I don't have a lot of that other stuff you us. Thanks &great videos & easy to follow
Boy I wish I could get nice plywood like his
check out my last video!
That’s some nice plywood. Where do you get yours?
Do you have link to under mount drawer slides. Blum are pretty expensive. The slides you used look different
I don't because I bought them locally due to lack of supply of Blum during the pandemic 😂
Oh no mate you just clashed with Burbon moth uploading this exact video!
Ill still watch em both
Who? 😂
Ha nice!
Always room for more. MWA is better anyways... 😉
Both are great. The other guy's approach is a bit on the comic side , but they know what they're doing for sure. I love learning new things every day, thanks to this guys. PA 'LANTE AMIGOS.
How do you deal with a wall with a bow, especially the upper cabinets
Where do you store your scrap and new material to be used for the next project?
My garage usually for new material and scraps are in the back of the shop
How much does it cost to build it yourself vs. custom cabinets?
I dig your content Matt...I spy some EH Taylor!!
Keep your eyes off my Taylor! 😂
@@MWAWoodworks LOL, no touchy…promise!!
😂😂
Presumably your face frame is thicker than the 18mm ply you used for your cabinets. So how do you deal with the difference between the cabinet base and sides being recessed from the faceframe? This is when having doors and not drawers
I guess I don't understand your question 🤔
@@MWAWoodworks sorry for my poor explanation. What I am trying to ask is whether the face frames sit flush with the inside of the cabinet or is there a recess behind the face frame to the cabinet walls and base.
Ah yes there's a 1/4" recess
What tree species did you use as a frame on the front?
Maple
@@MWAWoodworks Thank you for the information. What kind of plywood did you use for plywood? Thanks to you, I am learning a lot in Korea.
The Deep Drawer Base Cabinet, you didn’t mention the drawer clearance using the under mount glides.
Which clearance?
@@MWAWoodworks …when using the side mounted glides, the drawers are 1” less than the opening, giving 1/2” on each side. For example , the under-mount glides, what’s the drawer size for a 14” opening ?
So you size drawers differently with undermount slides because you measure from bar to bar on the slides. The bars are what the drawer sits on. So you can use different thickness plywood for the drawer sides and end up with different size gaps on the sides. I think thats probably confusing if you've never used them but it's hard to fully explain in a CZcams comment 😂
Now you can nicely store all your jigs and spacers.
hey matt where are you in tenn.
Hahaha double post. Jason's is just 1hr though
Hahaha awesome 😂😂 great minds think alike
Thank ya brother. GO CARDS
Art, so rolling bar: wine reefer, cab, keg, sink, woaghhh...
Gwanna need a c'ptains bed yo.
Love the video but Christ. How many times can YT auto play it
for me?
So what does that mean? Auto play?
@@MWAWoodworks The same video just keeps showing up in my feed over and over. I cant stop it. Don't get me wrong. I love the content and used your technique to build my own cabs. Nothing you've done. Just YT's bonkers algorithm.
Hmmm crazy. Is that on your phone or computer or TV?
Does anyone else think he sounds like Bob Odenkirk?
You didn't show how to make corner cabinet
corner cabinets don't seem to be done much anymore. People opt for blind cabinets or different kitchen layouts that don't require corner cabinets. If I ever have the chance to build one there will for sure be a video!
Instead of building one 30 inch cabinet and one 18 inch cabinet, combining them into a 48 inch cabinet, why not just build one cabinet that is 48 inches with a partition at the 30 inch mark? This makes more sense, because you use less material. This is especially true when using material that costs more per sheet (the pre finished sheets) when compared to other sheet material.
You can do that! Unless you want to configure your cabinets to fit a different space, then it's nice to have the option to combine two 18s or two 30s or just a single.
I'm gonna go ahead and close this video.
Thanks for watching! 😁
Ohh, two videos almost identical content. Bug in a matrix.

@@davidonwp Mezcal,
basically 20k$ worth of equipment and you're good to go 🥲
Nah you can do it for about 3000-4000 (painting equipment included) it will just take you more setups. Have you seen the cost of cabinets lately? I’m not factoring time into the equation.
@@Navy1977 It’s possible, but chances are slim. Plywood prices are currently skyrocketing. The quality of materials you’ll use will more than likely surpass big box store bought.
If you have a family, young children, or other responsibilities, purchasing instead of building might be the more practical choice. However, I’ll share this, the sense of accomplishment from building something yourself is truly invaluable.
FWIW the quotes I've seen to do custom cabinets for my size kitchen (10 upper and 8 base cabinets) was 45k-50k just for the cabinets and install, no countertops or lighting or backsplash or vent hood, just cabinets. These are custom cabinets made of plywood, not mdf or particle board like you would buy from a big box store. I can buy all the materials plus a $15k CNC to cut it all out for me and still be thousands and thousands of dollars ahead not considering my own labor to do the install 😁
as a rough average about $300 - $350 per cabinet, so maybe $5.5k - $7k. That's with plywood at $100 a sheet. Also depends on type of hardware and painted or not.
Hardly. You can build these using a circular saw, small pocket hole jig, and a drill/driver. Add a cheap contractor saw to rip face frames rather than buy presized from big box.
Woodworking is cheap to start, and let's you expand as your skills expand.
And yes, it is always cheaper and better to build your own!
