  • Devongunsmith Diaries #28 Beretta 686 Onyx: Tailoring Gun to fit customers Blaser Gun-fit.
A short video showing how I add weight and length of pull to a Beretta onyx 20 bore, so that is matches the gun-fit of my customers other gun, his beloved Blaser.
The Devongunsmith Diaries concept was conceived by me during lock down, and the premise was to be able to perform work without a fully set up gunsmiths workshop, but rather, using just the Cottage Kitchen Table, a few hand tools, some cordless tools, a table vice, and other small DIY tools.
While the channel is not specifically intended to be a how to guide, it is mainly for entertainment.
While in the UK gunsmithing must be performed by the Licenced Gun Trade, CZcams is without borders, and if the channel is useful to someone as either entertainment, or indeed helps you to decide if a repair might be possible, then I have been a help to you.

It would have been nice to see how you ground the pad down to fit' but then I am just nosier than most😀😀

When the Greener stock video is uploaded you’ll see the technique used, grinding a walnut butt plate👍

If he's 6' tall, surely he can cope with recoil from a 20 bore without making it heavier. Seems to defeat having a light gun adding lead. Interesting how you did it though and looking forward to the grinding.

The Beretta 20 Bore Onyx weights 2.8Kg & the Blaser 12 Bore weights in at 3.2Kg, So the Beretta remains lighter even with added weight. Also, the weight is easily removed, if it’s not required..
It makes me smile when people worry about the weight of a gun, and forget the weight of cartridges that you inevitably need to carry around.. 😆👍

I commented as I've recently changed from a Miroku MK38 Sporter to a Beretta Ultralight due to ill health and only use 21gram on clays, 28gram on pigeon. Occasionally 32gram but I feel no more recoil than normal. Just the gun is lighter in use.
