Mt Hood: Sunrise Summit through Pearly Gates

On June 18th I took up the Uptown Crew up Hood (Carlos, Keegan & Nathan, Plus Daniel). For most of the guys it was their first time summit! We went for a sunrise summit and were greatly rewarded. Despite having one of my crampons break in half right after putting it on, we successfully made it up through Pearly Gates Left. Descended the same way.

nice work guys.. it reminds me that you need to do a "sunrise" summit at least 1 time/year.. that's always an amazing view.. ps.. it's amazing that flamingos actually congregate at 11,200+ feet on mountains.. that was such a unique sighting.. glad you could capture it on film for those who don't believe it's possible

What time did you start?

I don't recall exactly, but probably around 10 or 11pm This was right around the solstice so the Sun rose early!
