I use this technique with my BRM C2 and Slingshot UFO and it's probably the only way to self land safely and consistently with strutless kites.

It's 1000% safer to be unhooked if the kite takes off. You are still attached by the safety line.

It was all fun and games until I tried to do it with a cucumber jammed up muh poop-chute... Not as easy as it looks
