It is my honor to leave the 20th comment on this video. Now hopefully I have enough repair material to fix my chewed up fence.

The issue with my electric fence is the breaks are right at the little plastic round button joints so I have to cut those out which makes it a much more complicated fix. This video has the break exactly in between the joints. But thanks for the clarification.

Helpful, thank you. Though I am going to need to go look up the knots because I can't really see what your fingers are doing.

Thanks for showing how to do some fixes

What about the horizontal plastic supports or dividers, whatever they're called? We have several of those plastic pieces that have broken resulting in sagging of the wires.

Does the brass think no go over the knot or next to it? Thanks for The video.

The biggest problem I have had is not the repair of conducting or non-conducting lines, it is the little plastic buttons which hold the wires in grid or net pattern. The repair kits do not include any of those. I've tried various methods, hot glue, the brass ferules, typing the joints together, but not found any of those particularly effective. Any suggestions on how to replace broken or dislocated "buttons" ?

Great video Joe! Why not just use two square nots for the conductor repair? Thanks!

  • @matthewwagner3625

This may be a dumb question but, are the brass ferrules necessary when repairing the bottom, non-conductive cord?

when repairing bottom powered wire along bottom of fence do you need to twist the red an white wires together with each other and then onto the unbroken red and white wires? As the repair isn't working....thank you

What about with multiple breaks? I’ve got 40ft that was chewed horizontally through when our energizer went out. I’d love to not have to trash the whole thing.

I highly recommend that anyone handling these fences use leather gloves. The small wires woven in have a tendency to break and expose needle-sharp ends.

This is overly simplistic. Try doing it in the field, not on a table with exactly cut wires with length to tie off. I have poultry netting which got broken next to the button, leaving me 3/8" of conductive wire left on one side. You only gave me 6 ferules also, and there are 3 breaks, total. Plus the written instructions say to twist the metal wires together first before "connecting" the entire string ends. SMH. For the price, give more ferules. And I'm female with smaller, finer hands and grip. This stuff is stiff and slippery. The average man with working hands would struggle even more. I suggest you show a few, real-life examples. Off to the hardware store.
