    Rafa at RG makes every opponent question their life choices. That meme "Why are we here? Just to suffer!" legitimately becomes real for them. Imagine dedicating your life to the art of perfecting tennis, practicing hours after hours... only to get steamrolled by prime Rafa on clay as if you were an amateur.
    I mean, just look at Almagro's facial expressions in the 3rd set. Dude looked like he's done with this sport & life in general 😅

    all of the top Spaniard players suffer from their fellow countryman Nadal on court: Ferrero, Ferrer, Robredo, Verdasco, Almagro, Carreno-Busta, Bautista-Agut, even including Nadal's own coach Moya. Although Alcaraz is popping, when facing Nadal he still didn't get to be as dominate as he is towards most of the player on tour. Have to admit though that Spain is the best country in terms of tennis talents, so many top 10 players including former top1 over the past two decades

    • @xsandinistax
      @xsandinistax Před rokem +2

      That's a really good and interesting, but difficult question to answer to. 2008 Nadal was younger, quicker, a better defensive player and probably had a better forehand than the one of 2017. His court coverage back then was just insane and he was simply a wall behind the baseline! On the other hand 2017 Rafa was a more complete and better offensive player, wiser overall and arguably a player with a better backhand and serve. It would be a close match for sure.

    • @jonbonesmahomes7472

      @@xsandinistax All true and the answer lies in 2008 Rafa..
      He was quicker ,had way better defense and court coverage was insane ,
      2017 would not be able to pass 2008 Rafa .
      Defense 2008 Rafa was incredible from tough positions.

      @@jonbonesmahomes7472, if we bring to the conversation 2010 Rafa too, arguably his most succesful year on clay when he achieved the "clay slam", or even the insane (for a) teenager 2005 Rafa, you may find that it's way too difficult to pick one version of the Spaniard over the another.
