Than you for watching, and happy crafting! - Jak na to + styl
I’m just getting into leather working. This was very informative. Thank you
Yay, new DadHands Vid!!!
This is awesome!! I love these.
Acrylic stamps! Brilliant!
Such a cool option! Thanks for the info - so helpful 👍
Awesome! Great insight to keep customs a little cheaper for clients.
Epic. ❤
Wow thanks
Great video
I had a brass stamp made with my logo. Like you said it wasn't too bad and will last a long long time. If you have a clicker press those acrylic ones look great
The acrylics also work with a couple pieces of wood and a hand clamp, or an arbor press as mentioned as well ☺️ no need for a clicker press.
Really a great idea. I guess I need to figure out a sort of logo... The brass one of course would be great but being on a budget these look like a better option to start.
I really like them for the affordability, making them great to test a size/logo before committing to a brass stamp ☺️
It definitely helps, I’m a budget too, and it’s a very low one these days haha we all know this craft is wildly expensive.
@@dadhands when I first started doing this I really had no idea at costs. Starting off is not too bad. But I watch some on CZcams that I love their work, but I see thousands of dollars of leather in their shop. It can be very intimidating to watch. Not the creators fault at all, do you. That's another reason I love your work. You are able to tool such amazing images.
@@michaels2208 that’s very kind of you, thank you so much 🤗 To be completely honest, and I’ve said it in videos in the past, but when I was starting back out into leather, after a huge lapse, and wanting to make it a full time job, I fell hard into the trap of watching some content creators (I won’t name names) that are nothing but over hyped tool/product sales people more than they are makers, and I put myself into a huge debt that I’m struggling through buying things that were sold as necessary, but really aren’t. Expensive knives, tools, etc. In this craft there really aren’t a ton of tools that are a complete necessity. Personally I only use about a half dozen tooling stamps on the reg. @corterleather even has a video out there about making a wallet out of things around the house. It takes some trial and error, but my best suggestion (and I am by no means a picture of success here, so this is all personal opinion) is to find a few leathers you really like to use, and focus on those and honing skills. Tools etc can be upgraded along the way, but isn’t always necessary.
Thank you so much for this HUGE tip..I've been buying custom stamps costing me way too much for just a one time project. Who knew you could use Acrylic stamps. I just contacted Wild Gears. Honestly thank you thank you so much, I just saved enough to go buy a press too. Is the turnaround pretty fast?
Awesome!!! Check out the Buckleguy press, I’ve heard amazing things and it’s far less expensive than the weaver one. If I could go back and do it all again, that’s what I would have done haha The turn around on stamps is fairly fast, depending on how busy he is ☺️
Melissa: I just looked at Aaron's website. He is selling his Wild Gears but there doesn't seem to be any information on custom acrylic laser etching. Does he only do it for friends and family? Thank you!!! Happy New Year (soon)
Best to send him an email: info@wildgears.com ☺️ Happy (almost) New Year to you too Bruce!
Can you suggest a good clicker press?
Absolutely! I personally spent WAY too much money on a Little Wonder when I first started back at this. Recently Buckle Guy put out their own version, that in my opinion (as a leather crafter and a metal fabricator) is a MUCH higher quality clicker at a much lower price, it can be found here:
www.buckleguy.com/bg-manual-clicker-press-w-swing-head-gray-4-ton/?aff=17
Does this work on faux leather?
I haven't personally tried it.
I pay next to nothing for brass stamps that look identical to what you have.
If you are interested i can post a link. But 2 inch x 2 inch brass stamps completely custom are less than 20$ each.
I would love a link if you’ve got one please 😊
@@dadhands I can also send a picture of some of my stamps if you want
My links keep getting removed.
Ahhhhh frig, that’s so frustrating. Thank you for trying! If you’d like, maybe toss me a DM on Instagram please?
Just curious on the name of the channel first time viewer love the content but being a woman speaking and the very specific name of the channel is just confusing to me
Sorry you are feeling confused. The name of my business is Dad Hands. I spent a lot of years as a metal fabricator/welder, so I’ve always had scrappy, beat up artist’s hands. A while back a pal called me dad hands, and it stuck out when I started my lather craft business. Hence the name.
@@dadhands I understand thank you for explaining it to me I know you really didn't need to but it's appreciated
