#POWERREPUBLIC #GOKARTS - Sport
Ive seen a few of your videos mainly for Arrow X5s and they are all great. You de mystify everything. Thanks and please keep them coming.
thanks 😊
This is a great video. Thanks
you are very welcome, thanks heaps for tuning in and sharing the videos
Great video!
Thanks for the positive vibes
It was great meeting you on the track yesterday Derek. Keep up the great work mate! Love the channel 😁
Hey Phil. Yeah mate, awesome. Come out for practise on Wednesday night if your free?
@@PowerRepublic yeah that would be awesome!!! What time do you get out there on the Wednesday?
@@phillipouzounis7390 5pm - 8pm . the 3 hours of power!!
Perfect timing. I just got a CRG road rebel chassis and I took the whole brake system apart to clean and inspect it. The fluid that came out was grey. I am going to replace the seals and fill it up again using your video. 👍🏽
Sweet as Mike. Do the child swap every 3 months or after a wet race meeting and she’ll never miss a beat again.
Power Republic the fluid that comes out of the bleed nipple do you re use that or get rid of it?
@@mikederksen6232 we just get rid of it. the idea is as the fluid ages it isn't any good, so dispose of it. like Pizza, 'fresh is best'!
Excellent video.
Could you do a pad change?
Awesome Video Again. Is it possible for you to make up a metal lid and tap it so that the gravity brake bleeder goes into and gravity bleed your brake system that way? Would that work?
yeah it would if you made a it out of a piece of Ali Flat Bar and taped a hole in it. I have never tried it but i guess it would work
How do I choose between the types of brake fluid? 4.0 or 5.1 I think you mentioned, great video again. Thanks
the main difference is the boiling point, but they are compatible with each other. so use the 5.1 👊🏻
@@PowerRepublic thanks so much
Awesome video Derek. Could you do a video on different styles of seats and their advantages/disadvantages? You see Jecko seats in all the leading karts in Europe these days. Wondering if they work in every chassis?
Not sure because we only really use the Tony Kart chassis. I think like most things, it comes down to the fast driver that we see winning so we naturally do that too. The Jecko's are great but will you go 2 seconds faster because of a seat change.......I cannot confirm nor deny. I want one because they look super cool.
@@PowerRepublic Appreciate your answer. Thanks!
@@PowerRepublic i want one because it looks cool... lol. That sums up my kart build. Its a 401 chassie tonykart running a rare prd fireball 125, The karts custom decals finally arrived from aus, along with my full tonykart suit, gloves and shoes. I now need to fit the alfano, engine vib meter, front brakes, crg pedals, just because they look better, and i have a crg chassie 70% complete, and the carbon seat will be added off the crg too.
I will look awesome, until i get to the first corner and crash out... i cant drive a kart to save my life.
@@PowerRepublic im upgrading my carbon seat too. Just ordered a gel butt pad, and a black PU leather with green duamonds stitching to match the black/green of the kart. Its going to look like a custom leather armchair, and feel like one to sit in..
@@christianbuczko1481 yeah sometimes you have to go for comfort over Pole Position, especially if you are not racing in the world finals
When bleeding with the cap off I got fluid squirting straight up from the master cyl which makes a mess, any ideas?
Thank you for this video :) I can see that this bleeding method is exactly the same as on CRG/tinini brakes system, but slightly different from OTK ;) interesting thing is that OTK recommend OTK dot 5.1 fluid but CRG recommend Xeramic dot 4 for their pumps.
you are very welcome, hope it helps. both can go together. only the 5.0 (silicon) rolls solo AFAIK. do you have a CRG?
Unlike the 4.0/5.1 family 5.0 is not hygroscopic and therefor my preffered choice but not all brake systems are 5.0 compatible.
Power Republic yes, I have CRG and manual said that dot 4 should be used, not 5 nor 5.1. I found on internet that dot 5.1 is silicone based, while dot 3 and 4 are glycole based and cannot be mixed. Also 5.1 (silicone) may destroy seals in pumps so this is the reason that dot 4 is recommended in CRG-like braking system, but I don't know if it's true 🤷♂️
@@KKarczmarczyk no, 5.0 is silicone based. 4.0 and 5.1 are the same family.
Great timing on the video . my son out grew is tony kart , moving into crg . I couldn't find any info on mater cylinder , so crg use's dot 4? thanks in advance
Hi I just my self a kart for tag res with a leopard motor the brake pedal is realy stiff you can't move it by hand this is my first proper kart I was wondering if this was normal, they work and don't drag when no pressure on pedal Cheers for any help love the vids
Hey Mario, thanks for tuning in!!! yeah the brake pedal should be hard to press, but not impossible to move by hand. maybe if she's a older model then yeah, they need some love
@@PowerRepublic good to know thanks for the reply will try bleeding it
What’s the difference between the otk brakes? Can I use this method?
heaps different. watch the Tony Kart vid and do it that way instead, IMO
Can ipk brakes be done the same way or will I need the bleeding tool you use int the tony kart video?
Thanks
we do it this way. there is a fill plug in the IPK as well, but I guess it would be faster to do it that way. but in a pinch, you could do it this way.
@@PowerRepublic thanks for the reply
A longer tube straight info a container would make it even easier 😉
Thanks Will
Can I use that technique for an Alonso kart?? Btw nice video :)
thanks heaps for tuning in and liking the video YO. yes you can, works for any master cylinder with a reservoir above the pistons like this Dent model
@@PowerRepublic Ok, thank you!!! What should I do so that air doesn't go in the brakes system?
@@khyl_karting make sure the resiviour doesn't run dry while you are bleeding them. otherwise you could use a gravity feeder or syringe if you wanted.
Hey Derek. I have dent brakes and have done a brake fluid flush. Now I have a tiny bit of weeping on the thread on the bleeder nipples. Would you even bother to try and fix this and if you would can you recommend what you would do? Cheers
It might be just some residual fluid stuck in the niple exit hole. Give it a good wash with some meth or even water and compressed air. That should fix it
@@PowerRepublic cheers legend I’ll give it a shot 😎 keep up the great vids 👊
@@tonyholding5111 thanks YO
@@PowerRepublic you were spot on 🥸 gave it a clean up and no more fluid…thanks for taking the time to answer my question. You rock 👊
When I push my break on my cross kart it feels like I am pushing a wall. I don’t have a master cylinder, does it help if I add one?
the MC makes the hydraulic pressure. if you dont have one you should put one in and make your life so much better 😊
Power Republic thanks 😊👍🏼

Will this work?
Did you forget to put the rubber cap back on before the reservoir cap?
I might have, but usually I have it stick to the underside of the cap when I reinstall it on the MC
Having trouble with my brakes on my crg. I fill up the master cylinder and then bleed the brakes but nothing happens. The master cylinder stays full no matter what I do. Please help
maybe an airlock in the brake lines. get a syringe and inject some fluid into the bleed nipple with it open and fill the lines up backwards. then re bleed the system
I tried that, opened the bleed nipple but there was so much force I couldn’t pump the fluid in backwards.
He goofed- He didn't put the rubber guard back on/in the master cylinder before he put the cap back on..
Hey Jon, good call, I did goof. Good to see your paying attention to the details. We put the rubber guard up under the black cap before re-installation and didn't mention it. Its easier to reassemble them that way as they fit into the lid. Thanks for pointing that out.
TONY KART OR BIREL? The plastics is diferents...
Ricardo Melo this one was an Arrow Kart from here in Australia with Dent Master Cylinder. It is similar to the CRG or Birel Brakes with a fluid reservoir on top of the Master Cylinder.
How to bleed a Merlin lm30?
not sure on that particual model. can you send me a photo?
@@PowerRepublic sure, where do I send it? I'd like to flush the full system and replace it with new fluid
