      Angela Tamborra Hi Angela, I also purchased a used 830 and wonder if you have experienced an unresponsive screen with this machine. I have tried recalibrating, which worked in the past but not now. Thanks for any advice you may have.

    Hi, I've been in touch with Bernina regarding the bobbins ( Bernina 830 ) that wear out they have told me that the bobbins are not under warranty . It's due to tutors with long nails! My nails are very short! They are going to send me 10 out of goodwill which I am very grateful for , but surely bobbins are meant to last longer than these. Many thanks for your honesty appraisal . Xx

      @berninaboys100  Před 7 lety

      Lorraine Brettle they are wrong. Bernina of America warranties hundreds of bobbins per year from our store alone. That being said, the new bobbins last much much longer than the earlier batches. Your new bobbins should last a lot longer.

      Many thanks for your speedy reply. I feel as if I've been fobbed off by Bernina. I have over 40 bobbins that I alternate, I do not treat them dis respectively . When you have invested in a top of the range machine you expect it to last. Unfortunately I've had several problems with it, mainly the bobbin area. It's running smooth at the moment so fingers crossed it will stay that way. I do appreciate your comments. Xx

    I just updated a Bernina 880SE using a generic 4gb stick which I formatted on a Dell Laptop as a FAT32 volume with 2k blocks.

    I have a Bernina 200 Artista bought new when they first came out. My question which I am having difficulty finding the answer is... Can I still download from a PC to the machine designs. I started college and only had time for many years to use the main sewing functions. Now I would like to start using the embroidery function and am not sure where to start as I am sure the firmware is outdated and not sure what operating system if any it is compatible. Any help is appreciated. The Bernina here locally just totally confused me over the phone. I don't think he was sure himself. Thanks in advance.

      Your machine needs to be updated by your dealer. The update will allow you to use Bernina USB sticks to transfer designs from your computer to your sewing machine. A lot of headache is saved by not having to connect your machine directly to your computer :). Hopefully your dealer is familiar with the update. If not, have them contact Bernina of America to find out what they need.

      @@berninaboys100 That is good advice. Dealers rarely seem motivated to provide this kind of support. They would rather sell you a new machine after letting you experience absolute frustration over these issues hoping you will just give up on a perfectly good machine. Most people do not realize that Bernina has a lot of influence and power over the dealer, Bernina can give ith and Bernina can take ith away, ie. their rights to the dealership.

    I have a Bernina 165. can it be loaded from a CD rom? or is it just to old and we are stuck with the PCMCIA?

  • @covid-19inthistogether96

    Bernina is telling me that for my machine the firmware can only be updated with the use of a memory card (my machine is embroidery only). I don't suppose you happen to know if there is a way to upgrade the firmware with a thumb drive for the Bernina Deco? And if not, why on earth did they not make it an option to upgrade the firmware with a thumb drive for goodness sake? I would have to purchase an obsolete memory card, and an obsolete memory card reader for my computer, or find a dealer that has those things (which no one seems to have anymore). This should be a 5 minute process but I have been dealing with bernina for 2 weeks now. Also, are there publisher notes that detail what is in each upgrade? I could only find the publisher notes for the most recent firmware upgrade (ie. update so I can have the Portugese language on my machine which I don't need). Bernina is telling me the upgrade is required in order to be able to have files read properly by my machine if I use their software, but I feel rather unconvinced at the moment as any purchased file that I have been using on the machine works fine, only files I create from their software are giving me problems on the machine. They insist that this is because the firmware needs to be updated but they haven't given me an explanation as to what occurred in the upgrade that gives them cause to think that is the problem. They have been nice but not very forthcoming and it feels like I am being given vague unhelpful responses to my questions about this.

    I have a 1630 model.It has a 4/5 hole adapter on the side of the machine. Is this something I am able to use for a firmware download? If so would it run directly from my computer via cabling?Haven't checked Bernina.com yet to see if my machine even has updates. Thanks

    • @berninaboys100
      @berninaboys100  Před 6 lety

      ML Nags unfortunately Bernina no longer supports this feature if the machine. Computers have come so far since the late 90s that it would be hard to find anything compatible with the original software.

      How big of a USB stick are you using? Usually Bernina's only work with small USB drives (2GB or less).

    You said it was important to use a Bernina stick. why? I have several brand new blank thumb drives. I don't have a Bernina stick other than the ones that came with my machine, and they have a ton of important files on them.

    • @berninaboys100
      @berninaboys100  Před 9 lety +3

      Not all sticks are compatible with Bernina sewing machines. The main problem is having a stick that is too big. You want to be sure to use a USB stick that is 2 GB or less (very small and hard to find). If its too big then the machine has trouble reading it. Sandisk is usually the best solution to save money from buying a Bernina stick.
      If none of your sticks work, you can copy all the files from your Bernina stick onto your computer, put the update on the stick, then put the files back on after you have updated your machine.
      Hope this helps :)

      @@berninaboys100 Wow, that is so weird, seriously weird. I literally have to use the iPod Shuffle that I bought my son about 15 years ago to transfer files to my machine cannot handle the large amount of memory on any USB stick that you can buy today. Is that because the motherboard in these machines is that limited? I assume that you are referring to all makes and models in your answer. I had no idea that is why Bernina sells their own USB sticks. Btw, they are saying that the memory stick they sell today is 16gigs so its no longer 2gb. They have sold and marketing different ones over the years so it appears to vary depending on when you bought your machine: www.bernina.com/en-US/Accessories-US/Sewing-Accessories/Supporting-Sewing-Accessories/USB-stick And there are plenty of 2gb thumb drives out there still (ebay, amazon).

      @@berninaboys100 What do you mean by software glitches, as we are referring to a firmware upgrade here. Do you mean that the upgrade addresses issues related to Bernina software so that the machine will be operable with newer upgrades of Bernina software?

    • @covid-19inthistogether96
      @covid-19inthistogether96 Před 4 lety

      I have found that there are "publisher notes" for the most current upgrade that will tell you what the upgrade includes, but I have not been able to find a history of all the publisher notes for every version of the firmware upgrade, and when I ask Bernina they do not have that information or are unwilling to share.
