    At the point of making this video, the Sigma 35 F1.4 was not announced yet. Would have been really cool to include it into the comparison. Maybe another time.

      Thank you for your kind words! If it helps, I ended up buying the 35 F1.8 because of the minimal focus breathing as I am a videographer. The size, price and weight was a huge bonus. The 35mm f1.8 is an amazing lens for the price and size, plus it has remarkably low focus breathing which is a feature hard to find in even the most expensive lenses. In your test, for instance, the GM had veeery pronounced focus breathing, which can be pretty distracting for video use. I say go for the 35mm f1.8 ✌🏻

    • @BernardLau1991
      @BernardLau1991  Před rokem

      The Sony 35 can get really close and nice shots with it for sure. However, if your sole purpose is to get close shots, this wouldn’t be my go to lens. I use the 24-70 sigma and use the 70mm for better close up shots imo. And of course the king of close ups would be the 90mm macro, which I do use as well.
      Hope this helps!

      @@BernardLau1991 Well I’m holding the object right in front of the camera. So, although I have never use a camera, and I am only using a smart phone, I would think I don’t really need that much zoom. But admittedly, I do use the 3x telephoto SOMETIMES so I can zoom in on the table but that’s not as important. I can just move the camera closer towards the table at that point. I just need something that’s going to allow me to hold objects close to it like I currently do with my iPhone 13 Pro. I don’t know if you would be willing to take the time to check out a video to get an idea of what my videos are like but I want to have that same perspective. I’m just looking to get a new camera because the iPhone 13 like to make everything blurry. Like, even if I am holding a controller up to the camera, it wants to make the buttons blurry, but have the D pad and focus. I’m assuming it’s because of the f1.5 aperture. So in getting a camera, I’m looking to fix this by being able to adjust it. That makes me wonder if I even need 1.4 or 1.8. Maybe I could get away with something like a 2 for my use case. I kind of like a more subtle Bokeh in my opinion, it looks even better and more realistic. Some of the shots that people having these videos they just don’t look appealing to me because it looks like a green screen or it looks weird like it’s just an entirely blurry Vaseline image with a random tree branch coming out of nowhere lol. But maybe that’s the difference between photographers and somebody making videos like me where I just want to review the product and get the very best shots of the product I can so that somebody interested in the product can get a detailed look up what it’s like to hold it. I don’t need blurry edges or anything like that. Maybe in my eyes are getting bad, but I can’t stand that. Some people are showing footage samples of this lens of a child or something in like the arms of the child are blurry and then the face is coming in and out of focus and people are just going crazy about how amazing they think it looks and I’m like?? I can’t see lol
