Dirk was so consistent over his career and his numbers in the clutch are top 3 (depending on the stats you pick). I also think that his peak during the 2011 playoffs might one of the all time best. He could not be stopped by anybody. He beat Kobe, Gasol, Durant, Harden, Westbrook, Lebron, Bosh and Wade in one playoff run. Absolute legend
You left someone out who was that third western conference team we beat
@@nmbmemphisbeast3690 UMM, you left out the team, too
@@peppep1569 lmao that's why I'm asking I always forget all I remember is OKC Miami lakers I think this was when we finally beat the spurs
Portland was the other team we beat I believe, with Lillard and Aldridge.
@@amachurcardguy Lillard wasn´t drafted yet but they had Aldridge, Batum and Brandon Roy
I miss Dirk big time. He is truly one of the all time greats and still doesn’t get enough credit.
Sure is and sure does not get enough credit, my favorite player ever
In my opinion he was the 2nd greatest PF of all-time behind only Timmy. Not by a lot though. I think if you switched Duncan and Dirk the Spurs still win those championships. But because he only played for Dallas I have to put Timmy 1 and Dirk 2.
Solid dude. As a resident of DFW I can honestly say he’s held in higher regard than any cowboy star or ranger. Just a solid human. We all love him
Dude upvote your own comment fellow DFWer
That's really interesting. I would have thought given the place of football in Texas that Roger Staubach or Troy Aikman would be at least as highly regarded. I guess Dirk performed on the court and did it with the minimum of drama off it, and that separated him.
He's up there but not above any Cowboy legend.
Yea in my house he is but not generally in DFW
Cowboy legends are trashy people. Dirk is pure class.
Dirk will always be ‘In the conversation.’
Probably nobody will ever plow through a harder road to win one than 2011, he just was not gonna be stopped, you look down the list of teams/players he took down pretty much on his own, is fucking mind boggling, then it comes out later the lil doc he finally let them show, that he had been going every Christmas to the childrens hospital not wanting any coverage of it, not only ten best NBA all time, probably ten best people all time, I have met him hundreds of times and he is just the nicest guy. We in Dallas are very lucky.
The most scary player for me as a Spurs fan.
He can't stop when he gets on the waves, and his skill level is abnormal ...
But more than that, I respect him as a great player who created the new common sense of the current NBA PF.
Nowitzki is just like playing, but his personality attracts fans.
Those spurs Mavs playoffs series were some of the best series ever
As a Mavs fan i will never forget the respect you Spurs fans gave Dirk at his last game in SA. btw, Duncan was the scariest player for me. I hated his guts. But by the end of TD's career I could only tip my cap. All i have is respect for that dude.
So freaking underrated it's ridiculous. This guy destroyed lebron and wade in a finals. His performance in that finals was beyond legendary.
as a german it still blows my mind how big Dirk became in the NBA. What an awesome carreer in the greatest league of the world ❤
but sadly at the same time he doesn't get the recognition that he should've deserved in germany as one of the best nba players ever. Feels like no one knows him outside of ING-Diba commercials in germany.
@@maximilianjhin1600 I don't know how you come to this conclusion. Basketball is not big in Germany but from a certain Generation everybody knows Dirk.
The 2000s were the best of times for a PF. Players like Duncan, KG, Webber, sheed, Jermaine Oneal, and Dirk had the package.
PFs and SGs were at an All Time Level in the 2000s. Greatest Collection of Both Positions. '90s and '00s are the best eras in NBA History.
@@anthonysanchez5997 cant disagree
@@anthonysanchez5997 AGREED.
Can’t forget Sheed
@@Jj-jb4qy Yeah, the guy who likes arguing with the refs and got sooo many technical fouls. But,he was a very GOOD nba player.
As a life long MMFL, I can tell you that Dirk is our GOAT. Dirk wasn't just a force on the court, he did so much for the City of Dallas, as well. Dirk bleeds Mavs blue, dude. He gave us hope on the court, and the gave the love we gave him right back. Dirk is THE MAN.
true but Luka will be better
Man, I got chills watching this! Dirk is my favorite all time athlete, such an amazing talent. True class and he did it the right way!
Carried the Mavs without Mark Cuban getting any all-star teammate for basically all of his 21 year career in Dallas. And still give Dallas a championship with arguably the best run ever in the playoffs to win the title.
So true.Dirk was a great player,he could do everything-OFFENSIVELY.
He definitely had allstar talent. Just never had them for very long. Nash, terry wasn’t actually an allstar but he was a 15-19 ppg scorer at his peak, Michael Finley, chandler was at his best in Dallas, he had Antwan Jamison for a lil bit, Josh Howard was a really good player and a one time allstar. Now u can say he didn’t have another superstar talent at their best next to him because all of his best talented teammates came late or early in their careers. But he definitely had a decent amount of above average talent around him that kept the mavs competitive. The just could never secure that consistent second star to pair with him.
@@TheIcemanthomas Mavs already have the same trend going with Luka & as much as I love Dirk, Luka is on another level as far as potential goes.
Dirk retired as a ~Top 25 player of All-Time.
I don't think there is a cap on how good Luka's career can be.
Dirk is the reason I'm a Mavs fan.
Watching Dirk while I was growing up was something special.
Crazy. He got zero help. For the longest time his second best player was Josh Howard. Was also underpaid
@@TheIcemanthomas you are a CLOWN. Just stop.
2011 dirk was one of the most fun to watch playoff performances I've ever seen. So efficient, so clutch.
A good chunk of us in the 30s-40s watched him grow into a legend from the start after his draft, and unlike Duncan or Kobe who also played during Dirk's career, Dirk's successes on the court opened the eyes in looking further into a finding that talented player in groomed in Europe (or internationally) to be the franchise player, though Drazen Petrovic also fit that mold, only his career was cut short. And Dirk had consistent jump shot, which his unblockable one-legged fadeaway is iconic move.
There was no answer to defending a 7-footer with one of the sweetest shooting touches of all time.
But the most amazing feat is him leading the Mavs to that title in 2011, taking down many future HOFers on the way. He may have only won one title, but his mentality and his devotion to the city of Dallas is inspirational.
If you want to build your own team, Dirk will always be a right pic as teammate. Giving anytime all he has, never let you down and will never stay in the spotlight.
I mean technically speaking he let his team down a lot up until 2011. But touche.
This is the type of player that every professional should aim to be. No off court dramas, no prima-donna requests. Just play the game the best you can.
He's possibly the best and coolest professional athlete we've ever had here in Dallas.
Dirk is really the best german Player, a very smart an human boy, we love him.
Thanks Dirk for the great time with you💪🥰🏀
Danke Sean für das Video! Dirk ist für uns hier in Deutschland der Größte 💪🏽
Bester Mann!
Being from Dallas and a long time Mavs fan, I am overjoyed still that he got us a Championship. Dirk was absolutely special!
should bhave been 2
“The way he did it, the route he got there” well said.
Lots of youngsters have no idea how cold Dirk was early in his career and how much he revolutionized the game. The Dirk/Nash combo was electrifying.
Dirk IS Dallas and I can confidently say that as a DFW’er since ‘94!! And yes guys like Troy and Playmaker Irvin are absolute legends and heroes here, but everyone here knows that it’s Dirk and then a big gap until the next most beloved sports hero of Dallas. That will NEVER change! What makes Dirk much more beloved and special is that he’s the classiest, most ultimate great human too, not just legendary top athlete! That’s more respectable and commendable than anything else he’s done on the court. Show me another player that multiple opposing coaches intentionally stopped games to give in-game speeches on his greatness and had the opposing team fans giving him a standing ovation at every road game his final season..!!! You can’t because nobody is more loved than Dirk and he is completely deserving of it all!!!!
thanks for the video! i love dirk nowitzky. coming from germany it is a bit sad that he didn't get that much recognition in germany. in the 90s the NBA was huge in Germany. everbody had their favourite teams and players, mainly MJ and the Bulls. but that pretty much cooled down over the following decades. it only made the news when Dallas performed good in the playoffs but that was about it. at least in my experience. but it is very nice to see how much we was appreciated in the US by his fellow players and now youtube creators. thanks for your content!
The 2010 Miami Heat were an almost unstoppable team. You know how amazing you have to be to win a championship against that team as the ONLY all star on that team? Incredible player
Dirk is the reason I’m a mavs fan forever. Dude is a legend. Incredibly underrated and while of course he’s not the GOAT he’s one of the best to ever play the game. And also a pioneer of the big man shooter role. Not to mention dirk has the best comeback in nba finals history. He’s a special player. I will always idolize the “7 foot schnitzel”.
Great vid! Many thanks. Best from Germany
Dirk was the best closer I’ve ever seen
Easily
When he went on a tear he literally could not be stopped lol
I really loved when he battled Kobe, even regular season games between those 2 were epic.
Hell yes dude
Those game were always must see tv
my 2 favorite players while they played.
dirk had such a big impact on how big men are playing to day imagine dirk as a rookie today he would be perfect for todays game
Go to min 8:07 for the D-Wade monologue on Dirk. These 2's careers will forever intertwined and real classy of D-Wade. Your legacy only as good as the competition you beat.
Favorite player since my childhood and forever will be
Prime Dirk was a Monster! My favourite Player of all time!
Dirk was real 05/06 season MVP🔥🍿
Every time I watch dirk videos I just wonder what it would of been like of dirk had been just 3-4 years younger when we got Luka. Those two together didn’t play very much but that Luka rookie year and dirk on the same court was so cool. You could just see once the roster got traded mid season dirk was passing the torch of the Dallas mavericks to young Luka
Man, I love NBA basketball players. They are so smart and have so much respect. Man, I love them!
It was great to witness his whole career. He used to play in my hometown just before he went to the draft. Therefore his championship was kind of very special to me. I saw a legend in the making.
As a 90s baby Dirk was all I knew. Him and Nash were it for me at those games. It didn't matter to me if we lost watching them play was always fun in our house.
And then to be at work as a grown kid with all Mavs supporters and getting to pause work that final quarter of that Finals game in 2011 because even out customers just wanted to watch, we watch them win with such grace after the Heat were such dou**e bags to them as people I'll never forget that moment. I had just graduated HS, just turned 18, and my city was on top. Something I'll always hold dear to my heart.
Great video bro
One of the few that didn't cheat the system despite the hand he was given. It's why his ring is held in higher regard than some people with multiple. I ain't gon name no names
Shaq
When he beat the heat team... his performance was unbelievable.
Nowitzki has achieved something special. No doubt. He built a team during 10 y to get the ring. History.
Props to Dwayne Wade for his comments. Big respect.
Goat player for my opinion. My hero my idol.. thanks for still recognizing dirk ...🙏41 21 1 forever
Love this channel. Is there a channel like this for the nfl?
Man, this video got me thinking about Tom Chambers. THAT dude was different. He was more athletic than most big men but could also shoot. 20k career and his in the HOF either.
Chambers is an underrated guy. Crazy underrated
One of the best, period.
Dirk, Tim and Kobe running for one team was so special. Great basketball. Will never happen again?
As a Mavs fan, lets hope Luka joins that list, and need smoe of the now greats like Giannis, Jokic, Morant to follow, would be a wonderful new era!
As a die-hard bullets fan I will say I'm proud of Bradley Beal he is proving to be a one since day one
Steph? Giannis?
@@slimreaper14 ok, Steph is Kobe minus a ring. Gianis is Dirk (of the East?), missing a whole person. Not the same
He will never be considered as great as MJ, Magic and Bird. But goddamn that one chip that he has is legendary. Amazing legacy.
They all had better teams come on. No all stars on his team Jordan an bird 3 or 4 All-stars
He doesn’t have to be as great as them.
Would u guys knock off the GD like you're doing?? See it far too often and going to start reporting it

About god damn time thank you
Dirk could've had multiple rings if he just had another star consistently like any one from his era that was a star he would've won multiple rings dude was that good!
Dirk had amazing talent around him cut that out . They consistently won over 60 games . Remember, dirk had Finley , nash , ant Walker , ant Jamison all in one year and that was one of his worst rosters 🤣🤦🏾♂️
05 they won 60 games 06 they won 67 games 🤦🏾♂️ gotta have a talented roster to do that . Unless you have LeBron whom can play all 5 positions .
@@stashouse617 Just stop you clown. You just hatin. Neither Finley, Walker, nor Jamison are even in the discussion for the hall. Go back to guzzling LeBron's nuts.
@@stashouse617 yeah that was all before they broke out especially NASH he didn't start Ballin til he got to the suns I'm talkin after Nash left bc that's when he started hitting his prime so you cut that out lol Finley was ite he wasn't surrounded with all/superstars my guy EVER so chill! One thing I do know is he won the ring as the ONLY star on the team when the last time that happened I'll wait....
Dirk never gets the credit he deserves as a PF. Give me another big man in his position that won the chip during his era without a single all star.
Dirk is a legend now legend
Best championship run in history
I'm Greek and I had the privilege of watching Dirk Nowitzki play in the Acropolis tournament in 2005, just right before the Eurobasket, where my home country defeated Dirk's Germany! And I notices how he would elevate his teammates level, to the point where Germany was a dangerous opponent against anybody, even though he was the only great player from that team! Dear Sean, you said that Dirk, is your second favorite European basketball player of all time! Who's the first? Is it Giannis? Luca? Drazen Petrovic? Toni Kukoc? Or somebody else?
Alexandros,I really love Toni Kukoc and the late-great Drazen Petrovic,LOL. I saw that game when Drazen scored 38 on Jordan,he gave MJ the-BUSINESS !!! LOL. Drazen was a GREAT player,he was fearless and relentless. His team-mates loved him in the nba,I remember the sad news about his death in a car accident-I WAS SHOCKED.He died SO young.Kukoc was Dirk before Dirk, people forget about him because he was over shadowed by MJ and Pippen.Kukoc was a very difficult player to guard,he LONG and tall, could go left or right, great shooter from long range or mid-range,good free throw shooter too.Luca is tearing it up in the nba, but, needs 2 more quality players around him to help carry the scoring load,it'll lenghten his career and his knees.
Such beautiful arch on that shot!
Hey Sean, I loved this video on Nowitzky. How about a video on Bobby Jackson? I know it might be a risk for you because he wasn't all that popular, but he was fun to watch. Just a thought, thanks! Keep up the great videos.
I’m not saying he’s the goat or anything but Dirk is my favorite player of all time. His championship was one of the greatest playoff runs ever.
If Dirk played for the Lakers he would win 5 more titles. But at the end it was the right decision to stay at Dallas. I became a Legend and I think it will never get a german talented Basketball player like Dirk. For me he is TOP 30 of all time in the NBA.
You’ve got a great voice, mate!

Consistency is what i think of when it comes to Dirk outstanding stroke could shoot anywhere on the hardwood ..FACT

“2011, Dirk, JJ Barea, that one right there made me the 19th best player of all time, that’s what I felt. I was like super super ecstatic leaving Cleveland because of the 52 year drought. Like I was ecstatic obviously, the first wave of emotion was when everyone heard me whining. That was for 7 years of me being in Cleveland and then after I got stopped in Miami I was like, that one right there made me the most overrated player of all-time.” - Lebron James (The Shop)

Dangggg how you gonna disrespect Dirk like that at the very last second and say he’s your 2nd favorite Euro player?!?!? Lol I respect your opinion and am curious who is your number 1 Euro! The boys don't speak abo4 Dirk with enough respect in their demeanor.... Shaq constantly claims "domenance" but he had to "double check" that he wasn't being dooped on the scoring numbers??? Hi! Shaq, you Just proved to yourself that you think you were better then what you EVER were.
I still think you are awesome Shaq.... As a player and a person. Can't help but Love ya
2011 championship was my greatest sports memory ever. Only thing that could top it is the Buffalo Bills winning a Super Bowl. Or if John Paxton missed that 3 pointer and the Suns beat the Bulls in Game 7.. and they would’ve been slightly favored
Idk.. 2016 had 2 teams come back from 3-1 deficits, WCF and Finals!!!
Great great post and Barkley could have had a championship
Sean David, the ambassador of the bald ball era.
I’m just glad he got a ring
Power forward was so deep back then! I have a hard time naming a good PF now. That moment during his retirement tour vs the Clippers when Doc called for a standing ovation for Dirk was powerful!
You have a hard time naming a good PF now? How about Giannis, AD, Durant, Tatum, Jaren Jackson, Siakam, Draymond, Sabonis, Zion, Mobley?
@@gunmuratilban8667 Lol! True. I guess it's more of the evolution of the game. I'm 44 and all those guys I grew up on were 20 10 guys whose games mirrored centers but with more versatility.
@@anthonyyoung4638 I loved the dominance of PF's in 2000's which is still my favorite era. Tim Duncan, KG, Dirk, Pau Gasol, Zach Randolph, Chris Webber, Antawn Jamison, Jermaine O'Neal, Bosh Brand and so on. Like you said, they were like skillful Centers.
While the traditional Centers are indeed dead now, the PF's of 2000's created new standards for bigs.
Well Said! There were battles almost every night at that position! Makes you wonder what the next step is.

Dirk is a 7-0 version of Larry Bird with a German accent.
IM glad I got to watch the Mavs win one.
So glad he got a chip, would've been nice if he got it with Nash too.
On the other hand, he also was an agent of the 'team handball-ization' of basketball
Yrah..watched that first championship run. Dwayne wade could have blinked at a mav while standing nine feet away and a foul would have been called in his favor while fouls werent called on him.
That ref was on the take (and i think he was called out for gambling later) dirk should have had two championships.
Holy smokes man, that intro, "Ewing"-oh yeah, that happened. He played for the Orlando Magic the next year as well.

Cool cut. Thanks. So Heinis your no.1 European player then if not Dirk? Hakeem?
You had to be 8ft 2in tall and have 4 arms to be able to challenge Dirk's fadeaway.
Dirk really changed the game. Loved watching him, but did not realize how the game would change after he played the position. Honestly don't care for this style. Lol

the king of Dallas!!!
Dirk was such a great & unique shooter. Although he was slow.
Not slow at all in his early years and prime . Very quick first step and footwork actually. Older days of course he slowed down a bit .
