I honestly believe they might at least try it someday. They saw the hype when banjo was added to smash, and that was just a fighting game character. Though I do wonder if they might do a soft reboot instead to try and entice new audiences. I won't hold my breath but I don't think its the total impossibility it used to be

The original intention for Rare is to create an adventure game called Project Dream on the SNES, but it was moved to the N 64, it wasn't working for some reason. Mostly like because realistic games can be difficult to work on N 64, such as Golden Eye. So Project Dream became Banjo Kazooie. However now that the N 64 era has ended, Rare no longer needs the Banjo and Kazooie. Why, DK 64. People did not like the backtracking of that game, and while Banjo Tooie's backtracking isn't as bad. Rare might be worried that another Banjo game would suffer the same problems as DK 64 if not worse. It's sad but it's true, some of the greatest games exists because of hardware limitations. The other reason is that ever since open world games become popular, Collect-a-thon platformers become less interesting for big companies. Thankfully there are games that due capture the spirit of Banjo such as Demon Turf Neon Splash, Fez, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, Hat in Time, and Tinykin.

As someone who loves BK over Tooie I'm glad that Minion did each of its worlds justice in his description of them. And while I would personally rate Freezzy Peak above Mayahem Temple (the whole winter/Christmas theme just hits me more than the ancient Mayan one) I totally agree that it is the best world in that game and can see why he put it higher.

Hearing Logan say "Don't attempt to 100% Rusty Fuckit Bay on the N64" just makes me smile even more. 100% BK was one of my earliest completions and I loved it. Still died a few times thanks to the propeller jiggy but I didn't care in the slightest. Just made the eventual completion all the sweeter.
I actually started playing the first game semi recently, currently in the Swamp World from last I played. And honestly, one of the first things I can think back from what I plyaed is that Clanker's Cavern was, not fun, probably partly because I stink, but, yeah. Wasn’t actually expecting to see it last though
Tip: you can hold R button on N64 or bumper on Xbox to turn sharply underwater or while flying. It drastically changes the controls, and makes Clanker's dramatically more bareable. The game never/rarely tells you this

It's hard to say what my favorite world is. They all have something about them that I really enjoy and appreciate. Though a close pick would probably be Cloud Cuckooland. After you complete it, that is. It's fun to just run around and do whatever you want after you get everything and beat the game.
As someone who does greatly prefer Kazooie to Tooie, you do make a pretty convincing argument for each of Tooie's levels. My favorite from that latter game was definitely Witchyworld because I love amusement park levels so I'm happy you shared a lot of my enjoyment for it's vibes and fun factor. Keep being you, Fawful!
Grunty Industries is my favorite. There was a point where the level just seemed to sort of click together for me, and the entire layout was just.. Agh, it was so mesmerizing in how it all come together, I'll never forget that feeling.

I will always prefer Kazooie's more sizeable pallet to Tooie's level buffets (I still adore both games), but it's very interesting seeing your take on the series' levels. Even with the levels that I typically hate I was like "yknow I can agree with him on this". Great job Mr Minion

Look, I'll admit it: I am one of the negative 2 people who actually LIKE Rusty Bucket Bay, and even I was surprised to not see it at number 17. I mean, number 16 isn't a selling point, but still!
Must be the partly masochistic part of my soul that makes me actually enjoy Rusty Bucket Bay. Or to the fact that I like to root for the underdog, as that hard as nails harbor really isn't the popular choice against all the others.
My nostalgia from BK doesn't come from the game itself, it comes from watching NintendoCapriSun play it as well as other games, which was the start of the path to me wanting to become a CZcamsr.
The over-the-top delivery, coupled with the witty alliteration and well-written jokes, reminded me of the old VHS tape of John Levitz breaking down every level in Banjo-Kazooie!

I think the whole thing with it was that because it was one of the last times you'd ever get to use the train, they made a huge deal with it. Feels a lot more interesting than just riding it into Grunty Industries once anyways.

I played Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, loved them both. But Banjo Kazooie+Tooie are on a different level of platforming collectathons that I couldn't even begin to express how much these two games got me through the last 25 years. I might be in the minority, but Rusty Bucket Bay is in the top half for me (loved it despite it's severe difficulty.) #2's my personal favorite.

I remember well Banjo-Kazooie, but this list made me realize how I didn't play enough of Banjo-Tooie. I only rented games back then so I never had time to fully explore Tooie because it was a bigger game, but I do remember beating the final boss in the first try for some reason

Aight, Ima say it, Grunty's Industries is one of the best worlds in these games, if not the best. I slightly prefer Mad Monster Mansion and Witchyworld mainly because I'm a sucker for spooky atmospheres, but in terms of sheer level design, Grunty's Industries is a master class. It kinda bothers me when people complain about it being too complicated (though this extends to Tooie as a whole) like that's the point. Collectathons are all about exploration, why is it a problem when one makes it challenging to explore? The whole point of the genre is to get lost in the world searching every last corner to find everything and learn the layout, and Grunty's Industries is the ultimate test of those skills, to be able to find where everything connects, to figure out how to solve these complex challenges. I love Banjo-Kazooie, but it's really simple, Tooie took the genre to a whole new level, collectathons can be so much more if we allow them to make navigation and exploration challenging.
Honestly speaking I love Nuts and Bolts, but yeah leaving it off the list is the correct choice as they are just too fundamentally different to really judge.
Our lists are completely different. My favorite levels are the most complex and most cohesive, Clankers Cavern, Click Clock Woods, and especially Grunty Industries. Grunty Industries is so well put together and feels like the perfect sequel to Clankers Cavern. It’s one of my favorite levels in all of gaming.

I remember well Banjo-Kazooie, but this list made me realize how I didn't play enough of Banjo-Tooie. I only rented games back then so I never had time to fully explore Tooie because it was a bigger game, but I do remember beating the final boss in the first try for some reason
The combination of pure love for these games and the STUPIDITY of the funniest shit I've ever seen makes this an INSTANT hit for me, best near hour I ever spent.

Aight, Ima say it, Grunty's Industries is one of the best worlds in these games, if not the best. I slightly prefer Mad Monster Mansion and Witchyworld mainly because I'm a sucker for spooky atmospheres, but in terms of sheer level design, Grunty's Industries is a master class. It kinda bothers me when people complain about it being too complicated (though this extends to Tooie as a whole) like that's the point. Collectathons are all about exploration, why is it a problem when one makes it challenging to explore? The whole point of the genre is to get lost in the world searching every last corner to find everything and learn the layout, and Grunty's Industries is the ultimate test of those skills, to be able to find where everything connects, to figure out how to solve these complex challenges. I love Banjo-Kazooie, but it's really simple, Tooie took the genre to a whole new level, collectathons can be so much more if we allow them to make navigation and exploration challenging.

Our lists are completely different. My favorite levels are the most complex and most cohesive, Clankers Cavern, Click Clock Woods, and especially Grunty Industries. Grunty Industries is so well put together and feels like the perfect sequel to Clankers Cavern. It’s one of my favorite levels in all of gaming.
