  • TP-Link AC1750 Smart WiFi Router Setup and Review - Archer A7
    Link to buy TP-Link AC1750: amzn.to/2Zm3UpG
    Today, I’m going to setup and review the TP-Link AC1750 Smart WiFi router. This is the Archer A7 model, in case you were wondering. So let’s first get it out of the box and start setting it up. The first step is to obviously remove the plastic covering on the box and see what’s inside. So when you take the cardboard tray out of the box, you’ll find the TP-LInk AC1750 WiFi router itself; a few different pieces of documentation(like a quick start guide). One very important piece of documentation is this card that has your default WiFi network ids and your default password- you’ll need this info to set your router up the first time. In case you do lose this information for some reason, you can also find it on a sticker on the bottom of the router. You also have an ethernet cable and power adapter in the box. Now the Quick Start Guide does do a decent job at walking you through the setup process, but I’ll be setting it up today so feel free to follow along and pause the video, if you need time to complete a step. You first want to start off by gently unwrapping the plastic covering on the router’s antenna. Take your time with this and be really gentle. And then remove the plastic cover on the router itself. And when you unwrap you can see that the Tp-Link Ac1750 has a really sleek, modern design and pretty good build quality. Now it’s time to connect the Tp-link Ac1750 to your Internet Service Provider’s modem, using the ports on the back of the Tp-link AC1750. Now there a few different buttons and ports on the back. There is a power port on the left, this is where you’ll plug in the power adapter. There’s an on-off button to power up the unit. A USB port which can be used to plug in a USB drive or hard drive and use it as a shared network drive. There’s a blue ethernet port to connect to your modem and 4 orange ethernet ports to connect to any devices that need a wired connection. Now there may already be an ethernet cable connected to your modem. If there isn’t, use the provided ethernet cable, plug one end into your modem and the other into the blue port on the back of your Tp-link AC1750. You can now plug in the provided power adapter to the power port on the back. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet. And you should now see the power indicator on the front light up. If it doesn’t, make sure to power on the unit using the button on the back. The indicators on the front will begin blinking and go through their bootup sequence. This could take a few minutes. Once it completes it’s bootup sequence successfully, all the indicators on the front should turn green. This means that the WiFi is working and that the router is able to connect to the internet. However, we aren’t done with the setup process just yet.

    Just ordered this one the other day. My old Linksys router has finally died. I was originally going to buy the TP Link ac1900 but almost all the reviews on that one were really bad. A lot of people were saying they're wifi would keep dropping over and over with that one. Whereas like 95% the reviews on the ac1750 were positive.
    Update: 2, almost 3 years after buying this router and its still going strong. I've maybe had to reset the router 6-7 times in total and a few of those times were because our ISP told us to when there was just basic internet outages happening. So I'd say its still a solid router to purchase. Obviously there's probably newer options available at this point but this router is still a good choice.

    • @TB-Steezy

      @@Good-Enuff-Garage almost one year later and I haven't had a single issue with this router. Haven't had any lag. no crashing, haven't had to reset it a single time. As for its "simple and lacking interface" I'm pretty sure it would be a good thing for something to be simple over complex. Why would someone want an overly complicated router? To be honest, this is probably the best router I've ever owned.

      @@Blu-Man Honestly it might entirely depend on where someone lives and what someones internet provider is. For me the connection never slows down and theres around 10 devices connected to our network at once. Also I should point out the fact that it can apparently handle 50+ devices at once and still maintain a fast speed, says something. I'd say to definitely take advantage of it being on sale.

    Hello guys I have an issues hopefully by installing AC1750 will help. I have fibre optic broadband with router/modem inbuilt provided by Huawei Model no HG659. Unfortunately in our current flat the wifi signal is only recording one or two bars in one of the rooms. This is due to 3 walls in between creating an interference hence low signal strength. I have installed an WIFI extender Linksys RE6500, signal is better than before, but the signal drops in between. Question is if I buy this AC1750 Wifi Router and plug in with the current Huwaei Model does it help to improve the signal strength. Appreciate your quick response. If it works I can get rid of WiFi Extender

    What's the realistic range of this router? I have a 2000 sq/ft house and want to be able to stream 3 tvs, couple laptops on all the time and my son on his phone skyping with his girlfriend at same time, but on a budget. Will this work? I'm also hoping (although not a requirement) it will reach a ESP8266 NodeMcu I have in my garage through a small breezeway. The router will be located about center of my house.

      This router has OneMesh(TP-Link Mesh Technology), so if there are dead spots you can fill those in later. It's much better than using range extenders alone, as mesh will make both the same network so you will not need to switch networks, and works with a large number of devices.

    Can I use this box as a wireless router or does it have to be connected directly to the modem?

    • @Reviewlamp
      @Reviewlamp  Před 4 lety

      This is a wireless router. But in order to create a wireless network connected to the internet, you need to connect it to the modem.

    can i use with RJ11 cable for ADSL+ LINE, because i bought a linksys RT but it's not working with this type of cables and in Algeria we have ADSL+ LINES with telephonic cables work with modems like TPLINK Archer D9

    • @Reviewlamp
      @Reviewlamp  Před 2 lety

      It only works with an Rj45 cable. You can probably could use a RJ11 to RJ 45 adapter like this one, though I have not tested it: amzn.to/3lIMQrQ

    One thing i don't seem to find anywhere are the actual wifi speeds from the device to the router itself and not to the Internet because that also introduces other factors and is not important for local area file transfers/streaming
