Ladies & Gents... it has been brought to my attention multiple times Taiwan doesn't belong to China. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and appreciate you all for the clarification. I've got it now. I hope you all enjoy the remaining 11 mins of the video. 😀 Thank youuuu!
I recently graduated from PU in Taichung, I also taught English my last semester to high school students. But I decided to come back to the states so I could handle personal things. I knew when I was in Taiwan sir my second time that I wanted to go back and live there. Seeing your video, I couldn’t help but smile. Especially someone that is black and from the states that I can relate to.
Congratulations! & thank you so much for tuning in 🙂
Went to school with your mom and dad. Have followed her glowing updates on you and your sister for years. Great idea to live abroad! Enjoy life!!!!
Thank you soo much!!!
For those who want to come to Taiwan, please be aware of “Taiwan is not part of China”. Regardless historical reasons ( many versions anyway) according to a poll few years ago, only 9.2% Taiwanese were willing to be ruled by China government. 90.8 % Taiwanese prefer democracy and are against CCP. Never say “ Taiwan belongs to China” technically or not, in front of Taiwanese people. Just be aware. Other than that, most Taiwanese are open minded and friendly towards foreigners.
Taiwan belongs to China ? These are N words for Taiwanese people. Definitely don’t say it
I love hearing your story! It’s nice to hear your journey because we can learn from it! You are GLOWING ✨. Mental space is so important. I believe in working hard but life shouldn’t be consumed in it all the time. I am very proud of you!

Your video really paints such a wonderful picture of life in Taiwan as an English teacher.
Thank you very much!
You are definitely selling me on Taiwan!! I am currently applying to teach English in Korea and to know that I have to pay out of pocket for the quarantine fee got me questioning. Watching your video really assure me that I should also add an application for Taiwan too!
Lol I’ve heard good things about Korea too & the EPIK program. I’ve enjoyed Taiwan though! I’m not sure how the cost work with quarantine hotels here.

Aurora!!! I love & miss youuu. Hope all is well 💕
Awesome video, liked and subscribed! I noticed in a different video (at least I think it was a different vid.. I've been binge watching them lol) you mention receiving a stipend for housing and I was wondering if $400 is the original cost of the rent or if that's what's left for you to pay after the stipend is applied.
Thank you for watching 🙂 $400 is the total cost. My stipend comes with my salary so I can really put that towards anything.
I’m also 26 and moving abroad!
That's awesome. Congrats!
Keep bringing us more videos on Taiwan
More to come!
Just want to say we don't belong to China. We are Republic of China and they are People's republic of China which is not even close to people or republic.People always think about the big main land China when talking about China. That's why we prefer to be called Taiwan now.I know it's a common mistake as a foreigner to make and I'm not here to judge. It's just something we really care.
Thank you for the clarification! I appreciate it 🙂
Taiwan belongs to China...stop lying to yourself.
you being brainwashed by the world oppressor that kills people around the world.. so the us military industrial complex can keep going.. stupid..
Fantastic video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome!
Thank you!
Heyyyy girl!! Love this video!!! Just curious, do you make lesson plans?
Wowww thanks for watching ☺️ yes I make my lesson plans.
Hello, nice to meet u.
身為一個台灣人 謝謝妳讓我知道外國人在台灣當英文老師的故事^ ^。As a Taiwanese, thanks for you let me know the story of foreigners working as English teachers in Taiwan.
Thank you for watching! 🙂
What city are you located and what type of training do they provide with a public school?
Can you make a video about how you found your job? If your used a recruiter, how and where to apply, etc?
Hi, yes I will be adding a video like that to my channel soon :)
Thank you good for you
Thank you!
Always looking beautiful
Thank you.
Did you have to get a TEFL certificate?
Thanks for sharing your inspiring story. Question, what is the monthly salary for an english teacher at your level in Taiwan?
Thank you for watching! For first year public school teaching with a bachelors degree you'd start out around $2200 a month before taxes. Salary goes up every year and you get more if you have a masters or PHD.
Which website did you use to find your job ❤😊?
Amazing
Thank you!
Good job
Thank you!
To whom want to come to Taiwan, you have to apply the Visa of the Republic of China.
A wee smidge of clarification: the ROC title for Taiwan refers to the Kuomintang (KMT) government from pre-civil war China, that fled to Taiwan in the late 1940s. They presided over the longest period of martial law in modern world history until the single party KMT rule was finally rejected in favor of the social democracy we enjoy today.
All of that is to say that Taiwan has a historical connection to the landmass across the strait, but it is not, and never was, a part of "China" as we know it today (a collection of annexed territories under the rule of the People's Republic of China's 70 year old central government). The ROC name has been kept around domestically in Taiwan primarily to pacify an openly hostile PRC, which threatens to take Taiwan by force if it formally declares dejure independence, something that the majority of Taiwanese support nonetheless. When you say that Taiwan is technically part of China, using maps that color it as if it is PRC territory, it can be taken by many people living here that you're validating a narrative of people that seem pretty eager to bomb us into submission. I don't get the sense that that's what you meant at all, so just a friendly heads up, from one immigrant to another.
Still looking forward to your future content! Don't worry about it too much.
Thank you for the backstory. I’m not exactly sure of the history between the two countries so this is good to know!
@@NneniaYasmeen you're welcome! :)
A lot of the modern Taiwanese ethos is shaped by the past 70 years of conflict and competition with China, but since the culture here is pretty reserved and polite, folks often avoid talking about it in mixed company, since it's a stressful subject.
Hi ! Thanks for the video . If I may , do you plan your lessons or do they give the lessons to you ?
Hi, thank you for watching 🙂 I make my lesson plans based off the syllabus & books they give me.
@@NneniaYasmeen yooooo you respond sis?!!! I am a subbie for life ( been subscribed by the way) !
@@kamilahmarston51 hahah of course my girl! Thank youuu 💕
I was wondering did you get much help when arriving in Taiwan as a foreigner? Did you secure housing before or after arriving? Thank you! :)
Not really. Lol I met with an associate from the recruiting agency I went through my first day there to show me my school. I found my own apartment through a Facebook group.
Did the school required TEFL or TESOL certificate?
No a teaching license or substitute teaching license is required if you don’t have a degree in education.
Did you buy a vlogging camera or is this filmed on Iphone?
I use a canon G7x 🙂
you are soooo beautiful. Welcome to Taiwan
Thank you so much!
What website did you use to find your teaching job? You look really pretty BTW and you're glowing
Thank you! I was referred to a recruitment agency called Teach Taiwan.
@@NneniaYasmeen Thank you!!!
How did you go about finding your job teaching English in a public school there?
I went through a recruiting agency called Teach Taiwan. There's a video on my channel explaining in detail!
@@NneniaYasmeen thank you! I'll check it out.
I know many people who are teach English in Taiwan. Is that why you chose that particular country?
I didn’t know anyone here before moving. I chose Taiwan for the salary, cost of living and safety!
I am 28 years old in 2021 and I cannot move outside my country due to pandemic. I wonder if I turn 30, does it too late for hunting some job in Taiwan?
No that's not too late to job hunt in Taiwan!
Do other countries require you to be vaccinated in order to live there?
@@NneniaYasmeen What was the oldest age English teacher that you knew of?
I had two coworkers that were 50+ at my first school. Not sure of their exact ages. @@doninmichigan
I just commented on your Bustle video and realized that wasn’t your CZcams. So, if you gave a work visa you can stay in Taiwan so long as you’re working? How long was the process? What was the cost? Thank you. Do they mostly like non-Asians for teachers? My kids are mixed Taiwanese Americans and want to live in Taiwan. Thanks for any info.
Hi! Glad you found me. Your work permit will be valid for the length of your work contract. It took a few weeks to come so I flew in on a travel visa because it's valid 90 days and applied for the working one once I got there. I think it was around $100 USD . They prefer native English speakers from US, UK, CA, SA.🙂
@@NneniaYasmeen thank you! You have a new subscriber. Very informative. My mom is a citizen but I am not. Just learning more about this process.
would you mind sharing some of those fb groups please?
Hi! I don't remember them exactly. That was over 3 years ago but if you search something like "Teaching jobs in Taiwan" multiple groups will pop up.
I'd like to move to Taiwan.
Good luck if you do!
I also wanna move to a country somewhere in East Asia, specifically Singapore but that's a bit ambitious for a 20 year old with no money or experience.
Malaysia seems alright, but being born in a religious environment (as an atheist) the last thing I want is going back to a similar environment, mind you I think malaysians are awesome but I really don't want religion anywhere near me.
I speak 2 languages, can understand & speak bits and pieces of 3 others. Working as a teacher seems the most suitable, but I don't see it as a career for me. I suck at explaining things & don't have the patience to explain them. Do you know any other jobs for someone in a similar situation? (no money or experience)
Thank you!
Hi! Teaching was not a long term career choice for me either but it was the best option for me to move and live abroad. I think it's something to consider and look into if this is what you really want to do. Going to school overseas is the only other way I know of foreigners being able to legally live in another country. Good luck & hope this helps!
@@NneniaYasmeen
Thank you! :D
Well, studying abroad is something I also wanna do, and have been planning to for a while.
I'll try my best this year to apply and get my stuff together, and hopefully I'll update you on what happens and everyone else who might need to hear it.
Do you need to know the native language? Taiwanese?
No, you don't.
Does your school pay for your apartment?
No, they do not but there are some programs/ schools that will.
Sorry to say that you are misleading your viewers. Taiwan is never part of China. Taiwan has its own government elected by its people. It has its own military force, its own passport, and its official name is Republic of China.
How on earth did you get a public school position without being a certified teacher in your home country??
What do you mean? A teaching or substitute teaching license is a requirement which I met.
Although I have seen online distance courses to gain a teaching licence from the USA, I assumed after what you said @4:30 you only had a BA.
@@oldschoolwaverider When I started my search yes that’s all I had initially but I did have to get a teaching or sub teaching license. I went with sub license. I didn’t explain that in this one but I mentioned it in my “How to teach abroad” vid. 🙂
@@NneniaYasmeen The requirements for working in Taiwanese Public Schools seem to be somewhat of a grey area. Some stated '2 years experience needed post certification', which seems to have now changed? Different sources state different things. I taught in Taiwan 2010 -2011 for 18 months, then went onto teach in South Korea 2012-2017. I am currently working as an unqualified Teaching Support Assistant in Mainstream and SEN Primary, Secondary, and 6th Forms here in the UK. My aim is to teach in a Public Taiwanese Elementary School, and am therefore now debating whether to get qualified as a Teaching Support Assistant here, or go the APRC route. Anyway . . . Great vlog!, I'll check out some more of your channel, and hopefully gain a deeper insight. ☺︎
@@oldschoolwaverider Thank you for watching! There are grey areas and it’s hard to give definite answers but it sounds like you’d have a lot of options with your experience. The requirements I give in the other video I referenced came from my hiring agencies website. I believe that is what’s most up to date. I hope it helps!
Just left your favorite cousin to live your best life lol I see how it is
Still love you though 💙💙💙💙
I still love youuuu! I'll be back... to visit lmao
The hostile environment in America is just not good for anyone who wants to be happy.

Yes I've been corrected. Lol thank you!!
