    thanks so much for all your Taiwan vlogs, you're one of the many creators that have inspired me to begin my own teaching journey in Taiwan after I graduate college! I'm currently in my 3rd semester of chinese language courses so hopefully by the time I decide to move the transition won't be too hard.
    Teaching english isn't really marketed towards people of color, so it's nice to see someone who doesn't quite fit the stereotypical mold of someone who moved abroad share their experience. it's helped me realize that even if I am brown that i'm still American, and there are so many opportunities for us like you mentioned in this video, we just have to take them.

      That's awesome you're learning Chinese. It'll help a lot and probably make for a better experience living in Asia. Best of luck to you on your move/journey!

    Hey congrats on the great choice of change! It has been interesting watching someone not originally from Taiwan to vlog and share their experiences. I’m very connected with family there but can’t live there myself (I’m Chinese) so always interested to watch others share Taiwan adventures. Completely understand the “missing family” and to “plan” your family future. We have a friend who is doing the exact same change as you except she’s moving from America to Taiwan (she’s originally from Taiwan). How interesting that people so different turn out not so different in life. Best of luck and thanks for sharing your journey with a different set of beautiful eyes!

      Exactly. And like she said there are things that you can do and have in America that you cannot have anywhere else(maybe in Europe?) but she definitely has experience in another world and she can use that for many other things in her life. She can always visit this place and who knows, she and her hubby do well enough they can always buy a home in that country or wherever else and then retire there. 😁

    I just got to Taiwan I don't plan to stay long-term probably 2 years max. then off to somewhere else. It's not my first country to teach in but I never intended to teach English for life anyways lol. I don't plan for it to be my main career. No matter which country you live in it's never really the same as the one you call home. Hope you're having a good time back home. 🙂

      So avoiding responsibilities then? No wonder qualifications are increasingly expanding, and employers are becoming tired of these "teachers" who lack a greater goal and are simply exploiting the system designed for real teachers so to gain popularity through vlogging 🤗 and spending their money on the party and paying back their student loans.

    Can you please tell me if the borders are now open for us who want to come to Taiwan?
    And the quarantine process, the hotel costs and everything.
    Thank you

    • @lanahanbrian0
      @lanahanbrian0 Před 2 lety

      I don't know all the details but you definitely need to quarantine on arrival for like 14-21 days. And I don't know if it's the case for everywhere but I just heard from someone I know IRL that her daughter's quarantine hotel stay here cost her 70000 NT$ total. No fun and it's not cheap. Maybe better to wait for more of the population here to be vaccinated and the restrictions relaxed before coming.

      Hi I'm not positive on what things are looking like now but the borders are still closed as far as I know. Quarantine is still mandatory in a designated hotel 14-21 days. I've heard there's hotels at different price points you can choose from. Similar to the comment above I've heard it's not cheap and regulations are pretty strict still.

    Its a smart move, long term English teaching in Asia is a dead end for any career. USA has the most high paying jobs and numerous opportunities for a good career vs anywhere in the world when you compare the same job/experience... Important to get your 40 points in to build social security, save for a house and retirement fund. Then you can retire anywhere even outside the US.
