J Hope's Dad is a literature Teacher, that's why hoseok is excellent at writing papers, poems and really well-educated, people don't expect that of him because if you don't watch run, Bon Voyage or in the Soup, you mostly see his J Hope Persona. Hobi has a Bachelor Degree and currently working on a Master’s degree in Advertising and Communication. If you want to get know Hoseok more and not J Hope, react to the Songs “Blue side” and ''Hope World''.

Imagine sitting in a dressing room getting hair makeup wardrobe done, your mom calls and you talk, you’re scrolling your phone, talk to the staff and stuff, the cameras then turn on later to capture some behind the scenes of the members so you can’t relax too much, you have to go over choreo in your head over and over, and there’s still like 2 hours until the show and mentally you’re scared to mess up or do anything crazy. Cameras are on even in the dressing room but there will be an audience and tv cameras when you perform later. It’s stressful. Most people would want to just go home. You. Can’t. Go. Home. When have we ever heard of bts calling out of work? One time suga i think said they haven’t known what a weekend was since 2013. That’s what Daydream reminds me of. They can’t be normal and their every day is super stressful and there’s no escape for them. Every day and fans want content all the time. Always cameras, no vacation. If they didn’t show up to work it would quite literally make the news!?! Cray to think about.

They have talked about how being normal is a luxury. Even something like just going to the movies. They can't do those things anymore. Everything they do is analyzed and they end up on the news over the smallest, mundane things like making coffee. As idols, they risk criticism over everything like tattoos, smoking, drinking, going out, swearing, dating. Things that everyone else is allowed to do but they can't because they have to remain picture perfect. On top of all of that, they can't complain because they are rich and famous and shouldn't want for anything else. I feel especially bad for Hoseok because his persona is a happy and energetic, fun-loving guy (which is who he has grown to be), but that means people overreact when he's not constantly smiling and laughing and jumping around. I think he's mentioned how he feels like he's not allowed to be sad.

  • @sidochka3039

I love Daydream. The visual of the mv, superficially looks vibrant and swag (love his moves!)
But to me it's quite a dark song about how keeping up a persona bounds you, and the consequent outburst is all vented into these daydreams: which can be as normal as going out, partying, getting drunk, being young wild and free, being able to cry/experience negative emotions without repercussions or shame - or as bizarre as anything your mind can come up with, vibrant fish swimming in air, or the magical alternate world-building such as in Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter and Hogwarts.
Its a psychological escape for your desires that your Persona won't allow, constantly repressed that it's become sthg you think abt all the time: in the form of daydreams when there's a sun (in the day), in the form of dreams that you don't wanna wake up from when there's moonlights

  • @MM-et2jr
    @MM-et2jr Před 2 lety +25

I tiny thought I had. I think his public persona is very much about being hopeful, happy, smiling, "extra", energetic etc. - while I think all this is a big part of Jung Hoseok (his real name), I've heard him saying that he didn't use to think there was much space for/or should be much of his other sides like dark sides, shadows, not being energetic, serious sides etc. - while we've seen those sides, I think he has/is? trying to find a balance of what he wants his public persona to be while also being transparent and open. So we really get to see his mind and thoughts in his mixtape. He's also sharing more and more different sides to him as time passes. I love it. But I also respect that it should be in the time and way that he's comfortable with. He gets to decide when, what and how he wants to share. These are just my thoughts - obviously I can only speculate and base it on what they've shared with us so far.

Lol... everybody always asks who Arthur is. He is Arthur Dent, a character from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams and "Don't Panic" is an iconic phrase from the books. If you've never read them, I would highly recommend them. Douglas Adams was both intelligent and hilarious. So his books are also both. His Dirk Gently books are great, too. But, yes, this is an awesome song. It makes me hope that someday J-Hope will get to do all of the things he feels like he can't do now. He's a beautiful soul. And it's funny that you asked about being able to separate the artist from their art and I responded with the example of J.K. Rowling and that happened to be what you were referring to. It's hard for me to sort out my feelings about her and her books. I just tend to feel sad when I think of it. I have a family member who is transgender so... yeah...

His songs are such a mood in all the best ways. It’s funny that people might not know what to expect because he’s so different from Suga or RM in his solo feel. They always go deep and play around musically but also that deeper lyrical layer. I have my fingers crossed we will get Hope World 2 this year. And yea agree with you about the complexity and how they really give you a chance to dive into them.

My favorite solo work by j-hope is the full version of Blue Side; in Hope World we got a part of it as an Outro and I felt I wanted more. With Hoseok, his happy and loud persona makes people forget sometimes than him, like all the members of BTS, is a very intelligent man (both emotionally and intellectually). I think BigHit not only searched for talent in art, but also certain quality as people. All the artists they have now seem to be really good and smart people.
Edited to add: I think they all talked about how sometimes it feels like what it's ordinary for other people it's extraordinary for them. I believe several of the interviews on one of their docu-series was about that theme. I also remember V publishing a picture of a subway or train card and a pic of himself in public transport, and somehow it felt like a "tourist" picture, like it was something "different" for him

When Big Hit's CEO hired him it was for his dancing skills. He didn't learn to rap until after he joined BTS. Btw...it's V lying there that he says "Wake Up" to at the end of the mv. LOL

    youve entered hopeworld YAYY 💜
yeah jhopes songs sound very upbeat and happy and sometimes the lyrics match other times they dont. a lot of bts songs are like that too but jhope definitely has his own style. he said hes working on his second mixtape too so im very curious to know how different or similar it is to this one.
my understanding of this song is he is a hopefull cheerful guy but there are times when he wants to not be so upbeat or if hes depressed or upset or stressed for whatever reason he feels like he cant show those emotions too as much as he shows happy cheerful. but by making this song hes not only being honest to us about it making us aware which will lessen the pressure to keep that image up all the time but hes also expressing those feelings not keeping them bottled up.
bts dont lie to army but like all celebrities they do have personas and i think thats why they did map of the soul to remind us that what we see isnt fake but also isnt always the whole picture because they do keep some things private which they should theyre already so honest to ask for more vulnerability would be selfish. im rambling but yeah thats what i got from this song his character is half and half he is happy cheerful jhope but another side of him exists that isnt always cheerful and he wants to sometimes express that without walking on eggshells.
bts have said in so many words that they dont really feel pressure from army its mostly outside army where they get the most pressure like media, haters etc and even if they dont get pressure from army theres always fear of disappointing us so i guess they do feel pressure to a lesser extent? from armys. but armys try our best to give them some normalcy when we can example when bts go on vacation armys wont follow them even if by coincidence theyre in the same place the armys will pretend they dont see them.
December last year V and jhope went to Hawaii with their families after their los Angeles concerts and V posted when he got back to Korea a thankyou to armys who pretended to not recognize them and left them alone.

Sorry this is such a late comment…
I absolutely love JHOPE’s mixtape. I also absolutely love Daybream. It is one of my favorite Jhope songs!!!!!!
I wanted to put in more context and my point of view:
Jhope chose the name Jhope to be hope for people. Now as much as that might sound so amazing, I can’t amaJin how much pressure and hard that would be for Hobi. He does live up to the expectations and truly give hope vibes to the world. He doesn’t usually show his super venerable side because he is our hope (don’t get me wrong he does share, it just isn’t as easy to see/hear like the other members).
Jhope said somewhere that all the colors and brightness are his “shadows/dark side”.
When I heard/read that it made me really think about it and have an even bigger perspective. It also made me fall in love with Daybream even more!!! I think their can be a very deep and long conversation about this song.
    Thanks for reacting
Also it always annoys me when people recommend Chicken Noodle Soup when they show Jhope’s rap. I mean it is a good song but really? Daybream is so much better (or any song from his mixtape)!! Especially if we are thinking flow and lyrics…. Just my opinion though….
Edit: I HIGHLY recommend Hope World or P.O.P as your next Jhope solo song to react to.

We may never be able to fully understand how taxing their life is as "idols" but I appreciate how they share their thoughts and emotions through their music.. They have always tried to be honest in conveying their feelings through their songs..

Hi Bryan. I really enjoyed this reaction.
Yes I think its easy to have a misconception not just from the Hope World cover but also from what ARMYS say that J-hopes music will be happy and cheerful.
Compared to RM and particularly AgustD's solo work he definetly has a different vibe. His music is generally more upbeat and brighter sounding, but as you've seen it is actually very deep and meaningful. He has some songs with flexing like the other members of the rapline, but others that are more meaningful. They are realistic but hopeful songs as his name suggests. I think the most positive sounding song on the album is 'Hope World', its a very celebratory feel good song and also has great flows. He has a few different literary references in his lyrics like the song Hope World references Jules Vernes 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
The songs on Hopeworld actually sound quite different to each other. So Daydream is a taste of the style of J-hopes solo work, but is a different vibe to each of the other songs. I have not see it yet but ive discovered J-hope did a vlive just after the mixtape release making comments about each of the songs and his experience making his first mixtape.
I always find the lyrics 'wish on a sky, wish on a scar' very interesting. You would think the line would be wish on a star and I have seen reactors suggest the lyric might be a mistake in the subtitles, but it's not. I'm not exactly sure the intention and dont believe J-hope has said, but I have seen someone suggest it's scar to acknowledge J-hope has many scars, physically and mentally (like many of us do) that it's like an equivalent of saying wishing on a star that there are billions of - though this sounds sad its real and I kind of like this idea. But I've seen other theories from people including a suggestion it's another Harry Potter reference.
Regarding Pdogg, he is an in house Producer and writer at Big Hit. Though the members have a lot of writing, composing and producing credits (with the rapline contributing most) Pdogg also has a lot of credits on BTS songs. He is a great talent himself and has been with Bighit and BTS from the start, so ARMY (and it can be assumed BTS) has a lot of respect for Pdogg. I would think that BTS would have learnt a lot from him.
Ive seen others mention the Arthur reference is from the book Hitchhiker Guide To The Galaxy. I've never read the book but I have seen and recommend the movie from 2005 if you havnt seen it. Zoey Deschanel is in it who I see is in the show you watch New Girl. Its a great quirky comedy scifi movie💜

I like Hope word the least from all mixtapes that come out but I still like it very much, but I can't get in the vibe often I think I have to be in mood to listen to Jhope solos, even this in BTS albums, like "Ego" and "Mama", this songs and Daydream are very upbeat etc and I have to be doing something (like cooking or cleaning) or have high level energy day to listen this. But I love lyrics in his songs, that is genius work... Hmm from his mixtape I love musicaly "Baseline" and "Hangsang", and I have this two song on my BTS rap playlist :P but yeah that how it is....
