Always open your engine compartment on a cold start, gas fumes can explode... didn't hear a blower before the cold start either, but I never trust a blower anyway.
My boy Louie stugots had one of the ten years ago we used to smash the Hudson River down to the the statue! Good times, lost a diamond pinky ring on that boat! Broke my heart
Outside the fact the blowers aren't on, and it's wayyyy too early to starter up. I've agreed with my neighbors not to hit the keys before 9 am. Peanut heads or oval port? Straight stock 7.4L sounds like. A cam swap and some new exhaust manifolds and full MSD ignition would surprise you. MSD ignition made a Ton of difference. pro billet dist., coil and 6M 2L box (Blue Box) best money I ever spent, next to props. They start easy so timing is on point.
@@tomsreviews238 I kinda agree, but if you know your boat it's kinda a land lubber kinda thing...here's the deal with that. If it was that big an issue out of the factory, ALL gasoline boats would be mandated timers for the bilge blower on the ignition switch.....no starter until the blower timed out. This cat knows his boat....no dicking with the throttle to get it to fire, and it hit slow idle right from the get-go....
@@imtheonevanhalen1557 it is not legal for a manufacturer to install a blower to the ignition switch, mainly because the blower is electrical, which causes sparks when it's in operation. The "proper" way (as suggested by U.S. and Canadian Coast Gaurd), is to physically raise the engine hatches, look and smell for gas/fuel leaks, start the blower, THEN start the motor. I know this, from being a licensed marine mechanic for 30+ years,,, PLUS, having lost a friend, due to starting his boat, without taking the necessary precautions (there was a fuel leak and the spark from the starter, ignited the fumes). I'm not being a "knit picker", just suggesting the safe practice to starting a boat.
@@imtheonevanhalen1557 Dude I’ve spent my entire life working on or around boats, both pleasure, early in my career, and commercial, for the last 20 years. To not crack the cover or blow the engine compartment is absolutely negligent, especially on a dated go fast like that one. Skipping basic common sense practices because (you know your boat) is laughable. That’s a cool boat though, even if it wakes up the lake on that pristine morning, very nice.
Some people need to blow up a few times before the lesson takes. I prefer to run my blower for a few minutes simply because I have an aversion to being in burn units.
@@CaptainDayne Maybe, maybe not. I've had boats where you could heat it running and others where you had to see the light on to know they were running. A lot of it's where the actual fan motor is located in the boat.

Better get that engine cover open and the blower going longer before you crank it or one day it will be just one large boom.

If you're worried about fuel consumption, you're remarks aren't needed lol. Sounds like heaven😎
If you can't afford the fuel you don't get a boat like that lol
If you're worried about mpg this isn't your boat, or really any boat other then a row boat
Yeah that sounds right it isn’t miles per gallon, it’s gallons per mile :)
Fun per gallon...

Awesome sound!! I bet the water coming out of the exhaust simulates the amount of fuel it's using 🇺🇸

Thru Hull exhaust is always music to the ears!
I could just sit and listen to this for hours.
Anyone that has grown up on a lake or a river with big block chevy boat motors firing up in the early morning know what’s up. 🤘🏼👍🏼♥️💪🏼
Waking up at the campground when I was little I would ride my bike to the ramp and listen to them for a solid hour.
One of the best alarm clocks ever made, just meant that grandpa had breakfast cooking on the fire

Marvellous, thank you Dan, more please 😁👍

Great sounds
I like the "captains call" option for thru-hull exhaust...sounds good but there are times quiet is needed!

I said the same thing before reading the thread ...just gambling no fumes ignite, and never fire up with houses close by before 8 was my rule...
I bet your neighbors love you.😂
454s have a different tone could tell when it first started
No blowing out the engine compartment ?
Was thinking the exact same thing...
He is lucky no gas fumes
How fast does it go? those 454's don't rev as high compared to the newer speed boats I believe.
No bilge blower first?
sounds like twin 8hp Stuart & turner engines.
That V6 😍, just like my Camaro V6
454’s are V8’s

Small engines compared to today's monsters.
How does it not hydro-lock ?
Late answer but the water is not coming from the bores, it's being directed through the block and heads and channeled out through the exhausts.
Cold start my ass, they bark and puke 3 or 4 times before running that smoothly.
