    Vesa Matti Loiri was an exceptionally talented man. He was an actor, singer, dancer. He lived his life in a very bohemian manner to the very end. He passed 10th August 2022. It was told by his friends that he was not the slightest afraid of dying. He believed in after life, or incarnation. He was a very spiritual man. Possibly not religious but spiritual. He spent a lot of time in the Northern part of Finland, in Lappland. He loved the nature, the quiet and peace.

    This song, originally a country song from the States, 1953, called Gambler's Guitar was the best-selling single record in Germany from 1957 by Fred Bertelmann. It was called Der lachende Vagabund (The laughing tramp). Here the singer is parodying French night-club artists. Your song, the Italian patriotic 1858 Paolo Giorza 'risorgimento' tune is called La Bella Gigogin (Teresina). It was directed by the Milanese against the prevailing Austrian rule of the time and became very popular. I've heard the Gigliola Cinquetti.

    Loiri was an incredibly talented performer ❤ He did many comedic roles, and from what I've heard it made him feel trapped for deacades in the 80's and 90's as a "funny entertainer" in the work he was offered. I think he was good at the comedy but at his very best at the drama. Apparently he'd said, before he died few years back (he had health issues, he knew that he was going) that he is curious to see what comes next ❤

  • @aleksisuuronen5969
    @aleksisuuronen5969 Před 14 dny

    Loiri was a menace, he had 4 finnish championships in differend fields. Which is why he could also be very athletic comic with like jumping and falling around.
    Three was from waterball and one for handball, yes niche fields but it's not easy to get even local championship at anything. He was on finnish national series football team as a goalie (would have most likely made like global national team if he had time to play as the nr.1 thing, he only did one full finnish professional season). Took boxing seriously enough to have 3 showmatches that he won 2 of those, those wasn't any dive matches just to say.. but wanting to push himself and see what would happen. He was veryvery good pool player and at best 14th in finnish national competitions. He also played hockey goalie on like third stage to pro games but didn't think it was quite his thing which is kinda crazy when you can hang even in those games and that's your eeeh thing while doing so much (to not be completely bias tho, so many in here goes for hockey since young so it is harder field.. but then again even if Finland doesn't shine in football many does also do that for it being way more affordable for families).
    That's like just the side-stuff of really kinda hobbies since he obviously was an entertainer. Did also sing like not in joky manner but could actually sing and did make records. Acted dramas and comedy till the end. Was a comedian in a sense of stage gigs also on top of comedy movies.
    Like a lot of say Uuno things just doesn't hold as being neccesarily overall that funny to this day (they have been made so guerrilla that many jokes just being tired in todays standards), but there is some so good gem scenes in the movies. Especially with Loiri's physicality with the character that he made what it was (even if the director/writer had some grudge with that which is kinda sad, for him too being seen as a national treasure so to kinda be almost envy for Loiri getting the credit for the character when everyone knows it wouldn't work without both and it is written For Him. Like nobody else can do it and Loiri came up with a lot of stuff. I remember living as a little kid in the same area and seeing the guy Spede driving brand new some muscle car past us in 90's. Like I just remember that it was a car no one else could afford/you would not see on the road and the guy Spede had a very defined look to him and it For Sure was him driving it). The character is like an alcoholic con-man who sways thru life somehow always winning, but he somehow makes it beleavable that the guy takes a hot woman from some man by say.. A scene there would come some thing of Uuno not for example playing pool/tennis whatever but because a woman shows up and he happens to put every ball at once inside and would then show a confidence that would be enough for the viewer to even buy the thing (something akin). That is Hard in that gear/look to make it something anyone would buy even in comedic sense. He was able. Dude was so unique as a person.
    Actually also a weird thing is that my friend attended the funeral since he plays as an opener for a guy who was an attendee and his wife didn't want to go so he just went for having asked. Told how absurd it was since he ìs just like a guy trying to make living off of music and there is all finnish big names, media outside, just heard he got a happy send off as he would have wanted. Like a lot of artists so they more like celebrated his life than the basic of grieving of death.

  • @wiltzu81
    @wiltzu81 Před 22 dny +1

    There's funny story behind the characters for this show. Loiri wanted to make parody about french chancon singers and specially of famous Jean-Claude Pascal. The funny thing comes from Pascal's name as it sounds in finnish ears that someone is literally taking a shit. To match with that, he ended to have a character name Kusela which is close to finnish word kusella meaning to urinate. Jazz pianist Olli Ahvenlahti plays character Puppe, gay pianist from Sweden. Not surprisingly, when they had band in some songs, the band also was called Tunnelbana Pojkar (Tunnelbana Boys), which refers to Stockholms metro/underground where young gays hooked up in the seventies and eighties before AIDS crisis. In the eighties you could joke about these kind of things without fear of cancellation or woke and swedes were always joked to be gays in jokes by finns. Loiri also had very popular female character Tyyne Syväskökkö-Lipasti.

It's so interesting that e.g. in Finland, the same form is used for Italian cities as in Italy, with some exceptions. European music, especially Italian classics or cultural essentials where translated or made to fit Finnish lyrics. A lot of that is in 60's, 70's and 80's music. I find it strange. For example: in Japan, the "city pop" genre was popular and fantastic sounding, why was that not "exported" (so to speak) to europe or Finland? Italian music is beautiful and good pop music too, just wondering musical things after watching this.

    Loiri was amazing comedian and singer. And in Jean Pierre Kusela's role he kidna showed off both of his talents. And despite this clip is old... it still makes people laugh. You might consider this gem as the ultimate try not to laugh challenge. This performance wasn't in a movie, it was in TV-comedy series called Spede Show and also later in Vesku Show. -It kinda is sad that majority of best comedy ever made in Finland was made in late 70 to 90s. After that... it's been sad. There really have not been anything as funny ever since those golden comedy series. I dare you to react to some other Vesa-Matti Loiri's songs. I just accidently... ok, as finn, I got curious about ok what does Italian person has to say about the comedy gem. So I really do not yet know have you checked or don't really expect you to, to check some of his more serious music stuff.

    I don´t wanna be a party pooper, but you will NEVER understand fully Uuno Turhapuro, or other Vesamatti Loiri scenes. He uses so much words, that are unusual and funny to us Finns too. They can´t be translated at any languages. But if you get some fun of it anyways, that is nice. You just lack much.

    The original is "Gambler's Guitar" by Jim Lowe (1953). His laugh is really forced compared to this.

    I want to react to your reaction of Israel song to the Eurovision. The reason I'm reacting here because you close the comment section.... if you want to spread love don't talk about something You don't know. Talk about music. You should educate yourself a little bit more about the situation what happened in October in Israel... You have 77,000 followers be responsible and understand the situation better don't follow the crowd. They don't know where is the sea and where is the river Don't be one of them

      The main point of closing the comment section in that video was that nobody understood my point and i was attacked for it by basically everyone or applauded by pro palestinians . I don't favor anyone in an armed conflict , and mine was a critique to the Eurovision policy reguarding the exclusion of Russia from its competition. Their motive was of the invasion of Russia on another country, Israel did do the same, I don't see how this could result as a fake news... i am not saying they did not have a reason to do so, i am just saying it happened and this is just being ignored showing the lack of intellectual honesty by the organization. Correct me if im wrong, i look forward to see your video, we are all humans if we make a mistake it's good to be thought what that was and learn from it.

  • @hazielazarof2063
    @hazielazarof2063 Před 26 dny +1

    The main point ...you compare Israel to Russia and this is your mistake. Israel got attacked on October 7..... You should apologize

    • @mauronicolo89
      @mauronicolo89  Před 26 dny +9

      You do realize that my critique was to the Eurovision commitee and it is not towards Israel or the conflict? I compared their reasoning because both countries did invade another country , so since Russia was excluded for doing so, i don't see a reason to not behave in the same manner now.
      I never condamned any political decision , my heart goes to all the family of the people that were killed during the terrorist attack by Hamas and also to all the people in the world that has to suffer because of any armed conflict.
