All rights belong to HBO. Great scene from last night's episode, in which David Bowie (played by Noah Bean) is rehearsing one of his signature tunes, Suffragette City. Farewell Starman
I enjoyed it, too! (Notwithstanding it had moments of cliche that were cosmic level.) Apparently, the 1st season cost $100M, and the critics were not on board. (It had the negative version of Game of Thrones's buzz). Absent a massive audience, in hindsight I get why HBO couldn't commit to Season 2, but it was a fun ride! (In direct contrast, the excellent Mike White/Laura Dern show Enlightened had critical buzz & didn't cost much, so they could afford to go with another season.)
@@johnpolitis9060 I’ve already seen it and all the other Bowie movies. That was the point of my comment. I also saw the 2020 “Stardust” biopic and hated it
+bawoman Erm, he's probably the thinest one on stage! I grew up with Bowie since '72, and that's the best and most realistic I ever seen anyone play him as he was in '72/73 when I believe this series is set........the little details on not just his costume and mannerisms of that time, but the Gibson SG bass and Trevs mutton chops, Mick Ronson's whole look and Les Paul.
Can't expect an actor to lose that much weight for ONE episode of an HBO show. He looks so much like him though, which is why they picked him. Also... no one's going to be completely like Bowie, so you can pick apart their casting decisions all you want, but no one's ever going to be an exact copy.
Six months in a health farm and pretty ok. Bowie is actually an I'm-in-control type and does a lot of talking and couldn't give a shit what anyone else is saying or what anyone else thinks.
This was unbelievable. I was like, "this guy's entire purpose in life, and reason he was born, was to play David Bowie in a cameo." So awesome that Cannale is friends with him, and called saying they were doing a Bowie scene. That guy was probably screaming, "AT LAST!!!"
+Sara Page Very true. I remember seeing that actor in an "Elementary" episode shortly after Bowie's death, and I was so struck by the resemblance that I actually looked up his name to see if he wasn't related to Bowie.
+Loxodon Cyclotis Yes! My son said "he looks even MORE like him when he isn't even dressed to be him." He looks more like David than his son Duncan, even. I sometimes see people who look so much like these legendary musicians, that I have to wonder if they're a love child!
@Dancis You should have checked out how much Christian Bale was paid and how much time he had to prepare for the role before making such dumb comments.
Great series, and some great recreations of classic artists singing their songs, and this is one of the best so far. Doesn't it make the early 70's look so wham bam thank you Ma'am!
+jaroncreed No need to be rude. I simple put it up for other people to enjoy. I flipped it due to fact that I would have gotten a copyright strike if I didn't. Was hoping people would see through that.
I don't care what the detractors say, it is VERY hard to get closer to the real SSatSfM than this! (Still, very clever of the showrunners to make the Bowie-reveal a sound check to gloss over any fault and inconsistencies). Damn shame this show got canceled!
I love how the introduce a character by pointing out every fucking band member. "Hey Mick Jagger, is Keith around? Wyman told me to check with your bodyguard, Vic Robinson about going up to Bowie's house later to run on a train on Bianca. Congrats on Bianca by the way." We get it. You did your fan service. Wink wink nod nod exposition exposition. This show fails at everything in its writing. Great costume design and (in this case) great casting but horrible story and dialog.
Only Americans think this is a good performance because their ears are unused to hearing actual English accents. This accent isn't even British let alone a good impersonation of Bowie's voice.
Nope, it's not. It's just a stupid actor. Watch D.A. Pennebaker's Film on the Ziggy Motion Picture for the real deal. These guys didn't do their homework. Screw them! No wonder Bowie didn't want anyone portraying him. Here's why!
It's a shame this show was cancelled. 20 minutes into the first episode and I was hooked!!

The actors are so well cast. This show was awesome. RIP.
Except from Robert plant
So we'll cast? 😂 Lol..you see the zeppelin clips?
The actors are absolutely awful and terrible!
This scene was KICKASS!!! I love this show
Amazing casting. His face....almost made me cry how much he resembles David.
How dare HBO not have a 2nd season of this. I hope Netflix reboots it, out of spite.
I am glad they don't. It was garbage to begin with.
@@johnpolitis9060It’s unlike anything we have on TV, might not be for everybody but still not as bad as you say

He looks JUST like him. I'm so glad they had him play Bowie.
He's a bit thicker around the waist, tho. Bowie was incredibly skinny, like many other pop stars
Nobody can play Bowie. Bowie himself didn't want it.
I personally think he looks nothing like Bowie but to each his own 🤷♂️😂
@@jamesdean9183 Only Bowie can play himself! Watch the D.A. Pennebaker Ziggy Stardust Motion Picture for the real deal.

Was Bowie singing or the actor? At first I thought it was the original but if it isn't... the dude can sing!
Bowie was stick thin & he was so unique it’s hard for anyone to play him
That's when he pulled a Ziggy Stardust on her.

I played Ronson actually! Was fun shooting this. Someone just forwarded me the link to the scene hah

No it is not. Watch the D.A. Pennebaker Ziggy Stardust Motion Picture for the real deal.
Has this scene been flipped? As both guitarists, the drummer and the tambourine man are playing left handed!

Long Live Bowie
Long Live The Real Bowie, not this crap!
I love the way he says "Is that Andy fuckin' zito?". his face looks just like bowie's :d exept for the eyes of course.
I was never a big fan of Bowie. But the man was a genius.
I like how they include a snap of Angie dancing!
Or Coco Schwab...
@@thecat9660 Those two never did this in real life to this performance here.
This beefy, awkward David Bowie is plausible like Elton John making out with Scarlett Johannson.

The only thing right is the outfit. The accent is terrible and the actor is at least 60 pounds heavier than the original.
Ikr!!

David's spoken voice was always very deep.
