I got sent home from high school for wearing my Exodus shirt with bodies hanging from meathooks. Prob around 89 or 90. It was awesome.
it was the Pleasures of the flesh tour shirt wasn't it?
@@samuelfredrick3171 It's very possible. I tried to find an image of it but I couldn't track it down.
@@nitemareman1 tshirtslayer.com/tshirt-or-longsleeve/exodus-pleasures-flesh-tour. check the third image. is that the Bodies on hooks?
@@samuelfredrick3171 It was like that but I remember it having more than one torso and it was more graphic with like organs and shit. Lol
@@nitemareman1 I'd love to see it if you find it. All of these cool shirts are fading away and being replaced by today's modern alternative pop culture trash. nothing today has anyting on the old school thrash metal tour shirts. those are some of the coolest designs I have ever seen and that's why I collect them I've spent hundreds of dollars on them.
Paul baloff is absolutely killing it here on performance
Never liked him. The way he sings, sounds the same on alot of songs, not the band, just him
Paul how much reverb do you want?
Paul: Yes.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Paul: Hell YYeeesssss
And that's ruined all those early thrash records. I can't even listen to any Slayer before Reign in Blood.
Someone still milking that joke huh?
Bob Frapples same
Gary Holt is to this day one of the finest guitar players in all of rock music
Rick Hunolt too
your missing out alex skolnick
I'm not knocking Gary Holt's talents... because I do like him but, to say he's one of finest guitarists in rock n roll history is a bit of a stretch, to say the least. I suppose you are entitled to your own opinion though.
@@m.c.ruckus2032
Well at the very least he’s one of the best players in all of metal, although I find that a little bit limiting.
@@m.c.ruckus2032 i think gary holt is great but i know my opinion means nothing he is not the best thrash guitarist my opinion Alex Skolnick is the best in thrash
Exodus, Slayer, and Venom.
The 3 most brutal bands in their genre 🤘
venom 😊
only the official exodus channel gives you the authentic early thrash
my mom got this VHS tape for me when it first came out...I literally wore the tape out from watching it so many times
Do you still keep it?
Dude your mom kicks ass
I still have mine.
It was released on Beta as I recall.
What a cool mom!
I was there . I'll be 64 years on may and sow exodus last year. Love the 80's and 90's
I can't even imagine being able to see all three of these bands in their prime back to back!
It was a great gig but unfortunately Mantas wasn’t there…hence Venom kind of sucked this night.
That's not Slayer's prime.
@@nc9726 I saw, ...well kinda saw Venom twice here in L.A.
They were awful.
AWFUL.
Just a shitty band.
@@yanikotavov385 Yes it was their prime.
They were at their most punkish on Hell Awaits.
That was MY Slayer.
83-85
@@pauliescott Reign in blood and South of Heaven are Slayer's prime. It's a thrash band, not a punk band.
Exodus played Vancouver that same year. They had a couple of days off so they hung out with a bunch of us. We hit a couple of clubs and my buddy's house party. They even came over for a barbecue before they went back. Great time to be alive. Rest in peace Paul!
No#5
The 80’s !🤘🏻
Back when slayer got along and played for the love and not the money. Before their egos got the best of them and forced out the best drummer in the history of the genre. And up there with the best ever.
Best drummer in the history of the genre HaHaHa

I was friends with katon in 1986! Cerritos ! Phantasm. I was 13yrs old!! He named me ditch! I would run the streets with him also hung with nuclear assualt 3days! Dan liker is wicked cool!!
as it always is, all of the Venom footage is priceless. Especially the interviews
“Can we say fuck?” “Yeah” “right, FUCK”
"Feel free to say FUCK"
I saw Venom, Exciter and Dorsal Atlantica live in Rio, December 1986.
I Bought This VHS Tape In 1985 When I Was 18 Years Old!🤘...Brings Back Great Memories!🤘
I would sit in front of the tv after school watch this while mom was cooking dinner
Exactly, I'd buy BluRay of this
I was also 18 in 85 when I first saw this.
Shit I had this video back in the day. Brings back memories. 🤘
I had it on BETA format...😄😄😄
me too
At 1:01 to 1:17, guy who camera is mainly focused on is called "Rook MPC". He's was famous Bronx graffiti writer from infamous Morris Park Crew (MPC), who were featured in Style Wars documentary in 1982. Also, he mouths "MPC" into the camera when they first show him here. R.I.P Rook MPC
Wow thanks for the info man. You definitley uncovered a subculture that I never knew existed ! I always thought that guy was insanely cool and I’m kinda saddened to hear of his passing. Any idea what the cause of his death was?
How did he die? I mean, he looks early 20s and this video was 1985, so he only be in his 50s now
@@prettynoose8497 He either was pushed or fell from a 4 story window..he died in the ambulance on his way to the hospital.
@@robaxl3088 Wow, that's rough! Thanks, dude
@@robaxl3088 That's actually the story behind Colt's death, not Rooks, according to the MPC WP page

Damn dude Exodus and Slayer are on fire for this show. The crowd is a top notch lively and savage bunch as well. I wish I could’ve seen them back in 1985 but I was only 7 years old at the time. Fuckin’ Exodus and Slayer for ever the true Kings of Thrash!!
🎸🥁🥁🥁🥁🤟😝🤟🥁🥁🥁🥁🎸
Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, and Testament. The Lords of the Bay Area Thrash Scene.
Vio-Lence being a matryr to Thrash.
I'm 14, and fuck do I wish I was there
im 13, and goddamnit i want to be there so bad
We have a new album...HELL AWAITS. Damn! haha
I saw Slayer twice in LA in 1985 - once with Exodus and Venom (Slayer was the middle band) and once with Abbatoir and D.R.I. (Slayer headlined)
Was there at the country club...yeah abbatoir was cool..DRI got everyone fired up!! SLAYER brought the house down HARD!!! GREAT SHOW!!!🤘👹🤘
Exodus... I was there from the beginning to now. My favorite brutal thrash band. Still waiting for the knife in the back... Exodus Attack! Where's the new album GARY?!
Hey man I'm not sure if he said or not, but Steve has a channel Zetro's Toxic Vault (you probably knew that tho) where he may have said about it. I think they're shooting for next year. I guess a lot of dudes releases got screwed by Covid BS
This November
Oh shit, look at that is one of the greatest metal bands doing their thing. Gary is the apex of metal guitar, royalty among guitarist and same goes Rick.
Agreed. To this end, 24:43 is so kick ass
this is incredible footage. What a way to go back in time for us who saw this world come into creation as young fans in the 80s.
Venom: We make it extreme, throw a brick.
Slayer: Speed, Violence!
Exodus: Fuck that pretty shit, YEAAA!!!
Early days raw EXODUS..rip Paul
1:18 That old dude might be lost, bwhahaha!
1:34 Nevermind! lol 🤘🤘
That old dude was a homeless man who had been sleeping in the alley. We woke his ass up! Great show
He looked like red foreman from that 70's show
Damn, Slayer killed it.
Big time
Goddamn!! Exodus was JUST TOO GOOD!!
Three of my all time favorite bands.
*_Kids today have no clue what the 80's was like, their heads would explode without their cell phones._*
I know how awesome 80s was even though I was born in the year 2000. I mostly listen to 80s metal albums.
Tom Araya has the greatest song intros ever.
Those were kind of cringey actually
The nonsense he introduced the songs with were awesome lol
@Ryo-lence It was kind of awkward tho. I mean
Tom: People would think they just walked into a morgue, am I right?
People: YEAH!!
Tom: What!? I hope I'm not right...
@@WALDENSOFTWARE That was the best part of his cheesy intros.
He used to say the dumbest shit and try not to crack up why he was doing.
Some of the intro for Necrophiliac were hilariously bad.
I saw them a lot back then.
@@pauliescott I think you guys are mostly right. 2 years later 😁
My first slayer album was Live Undead. Then i saw them on the south of heaven tour, i was 15 that was a great show. Not yet arena big but big enough for 5k people in Houston
Got this when it first came out and it NEVER gets old!!! My only problem is there is no footage of Venom from studio 54 playing live. The Witching Hour was a video and Countess Bathory was from Hammersmith Odeon show.
cronos cut the cable to the main video feed, so no footage exists. the rumor is that the promoter wanted to not pay them or something like that.
@@LadyFairChildVideo never heard that before. Was it on purpose or by some accident? It had to be before they played as the cable wouldn't have been on stage. Wonder since they rarely played live wanted only footage from a bigger production? Never liked the fact they wouldn't tour! Who cares about seeing some pyro!!?? I just wanted to see the band play live and to this day have only been able to catch Venom Inc. live so no Cronos. One of the very few bands that I loved as a kid i have never seen live. I was lucky enough to see Bon Scott,Cliff Burton,GG Allin and had chance to see Sex Pistols but not the original Venom! I think had they dropped the "bigger than life stage show" idea, swallowed their pride and landed a good opening gig in US getting some much needed exposure things would have played out much different. As it was there were not that many fans here in US because people didn't even know who they were or had never heard their music. I mean the ONLY time I read about them was in an issue of Hit Parader where the 1985 album "Possessed" was reviewed!! THAT'S IT!! It was next to impossible to find their albums in stores. I bought "Welcome to Hell" on vinyl as an import and could only find their releases on cassette at Camelot Music and/or Record Bar neither of which were all that close to me at the time so every so often made a road trip to load up on stuff couldn't find locally.
@@hammeredwithhorror the story is that they found out, right as they were about to go on, that they were getting shafted, with some video rights/payment, and cronos used something to destroy the main video feed cable. so it was on purpose.
and likewise threatened to not even play if the crew insisted on filming. they did the show. but there's no footage of it. so for contractual obligations they used the hammersmith 84 footage.
@@LadyFairChildVideo what a bummer! They still ended up letting them use the band in the video so why not let them film! Exodus and Slayer would have known as well but still had the right frame of mind that the exposure (at that specific point in time) would be worth much more in the long run. Weird how they never spoke about it all these years. STILL it was great to have this available in a time when there was next to no chance to see these bands live for most people that didn't live in big cities and had no way of knowing if they were playing anywhere close.
What happened was Mantas got sick and they used two other guitarists (one with spiked hair!!) and they just sucked. After Slayer they would’ve been blown away even with Mantas though. Great gig even though Venom had some bad luck.
Saw this tour here in Cleveland was my first time seeing Exodus was a crazy great show.
Big four sem Exodus é compreensível, Pq a banda SEMPRE foi a pioneira do gênero, a melhor! Não se encaixa no "Big four" sem desmerecer as demais.
as much as i love venom, they got out classed by a bunch of teenagers that took what venom did and did it 100x better. Kudos to venom though for inspiring so many great bands.
I always considered Venom in their own category and what they ‘lacked’ in musicianship, they made up for with sheer fucking attitude, which is why I love them so much.
They are better musicians, but Venom were creative enough to invent something new and they were the common ancestor of what evolved from it. Also, I bet Venom would kick the shit out of a lot of those kids. Not that it matters musically.
They did it first.
Dumbest comment I read all day . Kudos
doesnt matter venom spawned the hardest genre of metal till this day. slayer and exodus stayed thrash.. but the black metal legacy just began.
I got in trouble for wearing a Dead Kennedy's Too Drunk To Fuck shirt. Those were the days. They said it was just a phase I would grow out of it. Here I am years later with a music collection big enough to open a store.
Disco was already dead as a doormat by the mod 1980s.
The best classic of metal

"It aint about no Goldfish!" -EXODUS
Thanks for sharing, never seen it before and I enjoy the deep dive into the early days... It looks way funnier and way less businessy as it is today !
This is weird, my daughter asked me who was that band you met back in the early 90’s again? I said I quickly met the guys from Exodus when they opened for Sabbath. A couple minutes later I went to CZcams and the first thing I see is this video. I never really watch anything Exodus but as soon as I mentioned them, here they are. Someone is listening!!!😳
Its a public secret at this point
its god bro
Had the vhs in 85. This was awesome
I Was there, That is "The Troubadour'" My friend said this band is sick lets go see'em, I said sure, little did I know, I was in for a long ride.
Studio 54...and in New York. The Troubadour is way smaller with a red brick background in Los Angeles.
Hollywood Paladium
So many details to comment!, mine is: Lombardo with a DRI shirt at 31:15..
Those were the days, growing up with metal, awesome
what a absolute fucking night this wouldve been to actually be at holy shit
big 3!!!! increible !!!Paul ballof x ever!!!! salutes and beers from CHILE!!!!
This video was actually a bit of a rip-off when it comes to Venom. It doesn't actually show any footage of them from the Studio 54 show. That's because their guitarist, Mantas, had left the band. Venom actually toured in 1985 with a different guitar player (It's also why only Cronos & Abaddon appear in the interview segments). Not sure why they couldn't just show the footage of the band playing with a different guitar player. Anyway, the version of Witching Hour seen here is some sort of promotional video. The version of Countess Bathory is from a show Venom filmed at the Hammersmith Odeon (London) in 1984.
I was at this show. Cronos said customs wouldn’t let Mantas into the USA & they got two guitarists and at the last moment to fill in. They were from two bands ive never heard of and to this day still never heard. Because Venom at this show were painfully awful. Those bands were Fist and Avenger. Saw Venom also in NYC the following year or two with Mantas and they were great.
Saw this tour in Sacramento California. Life changer
Exoduuusussss great
The Exodus Attack!!!
Dude in the Raven tshirt, f*ck yes!
Back then was a huge male dominated metal era with loyal comradery.
Awesome seeing Hanneman and Lombardo in Slayer (again).

Damn. Slayer killed it with Chemical Warfare. Perfect closing track to bring Studio54 to ashes.
Whoever has the master of this recording, it would be nice if they digitized it in the highest quality available. As hopefully, this was filmed on something better than VHS.
This is digital from vhs lmao your lucky it got recorded on that
@@tommilitello198 I'm saying if they still have the master tapes. It would be nice if they digitized the master tapes and released that as it would be in a lot better quality and you'd get unseen footage.
As they used multiple cameras to record this, then they edited the footage together and released it on VHS. Which then people copied and copied into bootlegs, which really degraded the quality even further.
Ever notice the guy at 1:10 is standing behind himself
